    Looks to be the highest stack is 14 high looks like the back corner goes 9 wide and 4 deep but let’s say 5.
    14x9x5=630
    I’d say that picture has about ~500 NESes when you subtract the ones missing in the front and the rows that don’t go 9 wide.

    Frankly, I'd be skeptical of anyone claiming to have this large of a stockpile, especially when they're all mysteriously in the same condition and the seller is claiming to have equally large stockpiles of other systems as well. On top of all of that, it's on Craigslist, instead of an outlet where it's more likely to reach collectors/resllers who would be interested in such a large lot. Not saying it couldn't happen, but the whole thing just seems fishy to me

  • @Metal-Possum
    @Metal-Possum 5 лет назад +1

    I'd kill to pay $30 for a loose NES. I paid $150 to get my PAL unit here (included AC adapter and controller admittedly) in New Zealand, and that's an average price here!

  • @MSUHitman
    @MSUHitman 7 лет назад

    In comparison: my friend that runs a store here in the STL area was able to acquire the following for $400 from a Nashville vendor at last weekend's MO Game Con:
    Contents:
    12 NES systems (all needing new pin connectors)
    20 official controllers
    13 official coax hookups
    9 AC adapters (not all official)
    7 Zappers (4 grey, 3 orange)
    3 NES Advantage joysticks
    1 NES Max controller
    1 "Ultimate Superstick"
    1 sealed pin connector

    $30 each in bulk is absolutely insane. It might be reasonable with an original power supply and controller, but that's still crazy. Maybe individually, but not in bulk. Phoenix does have a strange amount of retro stuff through.

  • @iphonepunker
    @iphonepunker 7 лет назад +1

    $35 for untested with no peripherals in Europe/ here in Ireland is a steal I'm lucky I've kept mine since I was a kid, but they sell here for untested unit with nothing for Bout €50 and I've seen retro shops sell them complete one controller, power cable and copy of super MARIO Bros/ duck hunt for €120. Personally it's pushed me into buying NTFS or region modding some of my consoles because of how expensive PAL games are right now. And this is why Japan's retro seen is so sparse now people buying the games up because they are so cheap

    7500 nes's, and no cords, controllers or power supplies for any of them? Who is this aimed at? Even if retro game stores wanted to stock up on these, they generally want to sell them with those other things with the console since the console is useless without them. The customer will be expecting them to come with it too for the same reasons. I agree with them, this guy would have to halve the price for it to be profitable enough to consider, cause the store is gonna have to supply these things on their own.

    The only console I could understand, but still not fathom why you would do it, is the Saturn because the eye for the disk reader is impossible to get a hold of unless you are getting it from another Saturn. So having a stockpile of the eyes would make some sense, but not like over 200!

    Its not unheard of. Some pickers will focus on a item and take it to the extreme. Hoarding is the correct term. They are compulsive collectors. I have seen this first had and second hand. First hand is a friend so I will go to the ladder. The guy from Mad Magazine, Dick DeBartolo AKA the GizWiz. He collects everything that is Tech related or unique. There are views of his hoard in the interwebs .. Its amazing. The one thing that stands out is how over the top it is.

      MasterControl90 that's because during that time gaming in PAL regions was dominated by computers. Consoles didn't start gaining momentum there until the Mega Drive and SNES, and it wasn't until N64 and PlayStation that home consoles became just as successful as home computers.

    They are probably old Block Buster units or similar rental company that were combined from the U.S market and sold off at the bankruptcy auction as a lot for a couple buck a unit and someone is trying to make some money off of them -- If he'd get realistic on the pricing and cut it at least in half he'd have a chance of going through many of them with the demand for the NES Mini right now - THere are a lot of people out there that would pay the $15+/- just to reuse the case for a Raspberry Pi build and those units wouldn't matter if they worked at all or not !

  • @AmazingFrenchman
    @AmazingFrenchman 7 лет назад +1

    An NES for $80 US? We sell them $60 CDN here. 7500 consoles at $30US each is a ripoff... even if you were to bundle in tomee 3 in 1 AC and cheap retrobit controller and dig up all the rf modules on earth, these consoles would still not offer decent profits. What a weird listing?... oh and just to be torough there are about 800/900 NES on this picture. Stacks of 16 NES, Stacks of 10, and there are 7 rows on the front then 8 rows further back and then 9 rows after that, we can see at least 6 or 7 rows deep.

      Joey's Music/ Tech Channel I bet the other one just has a dirty cart connector. Try giving it a clean. It will probably work

    He will sell these anyway... NES systems here in PHOENIX where I live are $100+ in MANY places. So there is still room for profit here.

    If I where to guess, that listing is from someone who was paying enough attention to notice the NES classic release, and likely, some how had all these left over un sold NES Originals from way back when it was released, likely from a business that for some reason or another, didn't manage to sell them, or some how a warehouse that had them crapped out and the shipment got stuck in limbo and never past the defunked warehouse... IF the posting is even real at all and not some sort of scam... which, with the outragious amount that is being claimed, most of those stories about such listings, it was fake bait.

    Would that many NES systems make the price of the NES drop?

      Captain Nwalps I don't think it'd effect the market much. You can't buy them individually so the casual gamer won't look twice at it. Who's gonna buy 50 nes consoles? A reseller, maybe? Even still it won't have much influence on the market

    To be fair, hoarding/buying up hardware isn't a bad idea. Because unlike with actual games that can be copied/emulated, if people want to play those games the old fashioned way, whether it be with original carts or flashcarts, they're always going to need the original hardware obviously. Of course you have to have the space to store all of those though. I find having 7500 consoles to be far-fetched though.
    Also, assuming there's no discount for buying bundles, the minimum you could buy 50 consoles for would be $2500. Which is absolutely insane. Because he wants to sell at least 50 at a time, he sounds like he wants to get rid of them quickly.
