As the gen goes on I’m sure we’ll see raytracing truly start to shine as devs figure out the new machines and how to optimize it better. I mean the calculations for light recreation/reflection have been know for far longer than video games have even been a thing lol
If you check the Forza Motorsport trailer that came out a couple days ago you can REALLY see what Raytracing can do for a game. It really made the game look phenominal.
@@runningbear6391 no it's possible. Consider that the GPU and CPU of a console aren't just watered down versions of 20 series cards, they're custom cards designed to work around a console's parameters. A good example is looking at titles like God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn. They were running on outdated Jaguar cores but they looked just as stunning as you'd get on a full PC rig on the PS4. If a game is made focusing around these consoles and taking their specifications to heart it's possible. You also have to consider a gaming console is built with all the parts optimized specifically for gaming whereas with most PC's the combination of different parts can near be endless with performance sometimes dependent on a single stick of Ram.
@@DragonicGamer32 a lot of the stuff wasn't actual gameplay though. It was done in engine yes, but gameplay will have a lot of the settings turned either off or down.
@@damagecase13 Guys lets wait and see what Turn10 can do with Motorsport and judge then what is actually possible this gen consoles. They claimed tho that similar results are possible for Series X
The reflections are a bit low, but honestly, I find it visually more appealing than the non RT mode. I'm not quite sure about lighting and shadows, are they raytraced, too?
I would say lighting is atleast somewhat better in many scenes but overall not a huge difference. Well atleast we still got 4k resolution and 120fps mode , I would have been happy with just those
When the static environments and baked in lighting look just as good or barely worse you wonder why they bothered. The flame thrower lighting up the scene was about the only convincing part I saw.
Well it’s better but not much but super shiny rpd floor was fixed by raytracing lol . Atleast we got now 4k resolution and 120fps mode so that’s something
@@KimTe63 I only played about 10 minutes of 2 so I can't give a definitive answer on which I like better but I'm leaning towards 3 just because of the dodge mechanic but both games still look fantastic

shadows are much deeper and the light sources have a much more natural glow as opposed to how they were before which was more hard and illuminating more than they needed to be. but honestly you wouldn't know this if you weren't comparing these games side by side. its most noticeable in lowlight environments, but honestly they couldve done better I think reflections shouldve been improved upon like seeing your reflection when you look in a window etc. the series x has the power and capability for some serious raytracing capability but devs just aren't taking serious advantage of it yet
I tried this on PS5 and couldn't see any real benefit to using ray tracing mode over quality. I'm sure lighting looks good at times and reflections are better but then you're kind of playing the game just to notice those things instead of playing the game to play the game. I'd rather just use performance mode.
Yea some lighting is better now and super shiny rpd main hall floors are “fixed” by raytracing lol . Well atleast we now have 4k resolution and 120fps option
The RT looks good and definitely fixes some of the visual blemishes the last-gen version had but I can feel the performance decrease even in this 30fps video. I hope VRR works well in this game otherwise it'll be non-RT for me.
Thanks for this quick video, I appreciate it and will leave a like. I don’t see any difference really and IMO it’s not worth the performance hit. Don’t get me wrong as I’m a sucker for 4K and better graphics, but I honestly don’t see a difference. I mean if I have to look at them both side by side and look back and forth to find something, then it just seems pointless.
I agree. To be fair this game has very poor rsytacing overall and these consoles in general just are not powerful enough to do actually good raytracing in most cases. Fortunately re2 has also "performance" mode without raytracing
Really? I can also hear Fan when RT mode is on but did not have any other issues myself. Sounds weird , for me it was much sharper than even One X version
@@taztas117 unfortunately this gen consoles are not powerful enough to do raytracing justice . But I agree most people likely don’t see any difference especially if they are not side by side
Why these games don't do a Metrô Exodus upgrade? Real resolution and frame rate upgrade with global illumination ray tracing. Really noticible difference. Guess the effort would be charged.

@@KimTe63 The One X version ran at 1600p, Series X seems to render at 4k,maybe dynamic now. Same goes for 3, I guess. Nemesis was running at 4k at launch and was "downgraded" to 1600p,as well. As far as I remember this was necessary due severe performance issues. This has now been restored to full res,I think. Looks very sharp and clean.
@@SOTVT I plan on uploading quick re3 comparison tomorrow aswell . Already editing it but have to take break to sleep and go to work lol . There is scene included where I think you can clearly see difference in reflections side by side
