    Do you struggle with Aviation Weather? Do you find the weather services hard to use? Being able to access and interpret aviation weather reports is a critical skill for passing your private pilot check ride. Let’s take a look at a FREE Aviation Weather App suite found within the aviation weather center that can save you a significant amount of time and energy!
    Warning: The information provided in this video is for demonstration purposes only. The information and results cannot be used for an actual flight. To plan an actual flight, you will need to use the information in the Pilot’s Operating Handbook, and the other documents associated with the specific airplane you fly.

    Scott..... if you get a chance would you check out the beta version of the new Aviation Weather Center and let me know if you can find the Winds/Temps Aloft Forecast Tables like in the current version of the GFA. I cannot and I have inquired as to where they are, no response from AWC folks yet.

    • @ScottKoonCFI
      @ScottKoonCFI  Год назад +1

      @Ken E. I have looked at the Beta version and you are right, it doesn’t have the basic Winds/Temps aloft forecasts. Instead, it expands a bit on the GFA’s interactive Winds forecast capabilities (on the main page, just choose “Winds” from the “Weather” menu). The menu is a bit harder to see on a phone, but it is there. Also, this is a Beta, and has changed a few times. The regular winds/temps aloft forecasts may yet make it into the final version. We’ll just have to wait and see. Please let us know what you hear (if anything) from AWC.
      Having said all that, I would love to see some updates to the standard winds/temps aloft forecasts. Foreflight and other third party suppliers have started using different modeling that provides more granularity without having to do so much interpolation. In fact, as noted in the video, the GFA tool uses some of those same models to provide Winds Aloft. It would be nice to see improvements to the number of reporting stations and the reporting altitudes so that flight planning could be a bit easier/faster.
      Thanks for the comment!!

      @@ScottKoonCFI I just asked the AWC yesterday about expanding the reporting stations in order to make each geographic section/area that much more complete and even add to safety for planning purposes.

      Thank you for the comment. Yes. They’ve moved things around quite a bit. I actually did a video on the updates. The link is here:

      I left this video up, because all the tools we discuss in this video, but one, still exist and this video goes through them in a little more detail. I hope the new video is helpful. Thanks again for the comment.
