@@corberus3119 Yeah but he doesn't sound English himself, so it's probably even harder for him to differentiate. I also think it's the music, although they sound Mexican, Spanish and Mexican music sound awfully familiar to the untrained ear...
Answering your question, all these cinematics happen when Overwatch had been already shut down. So Tracer, Winston (gorilla scientist), McCree they used to be Overwatch agents, but not anymore. Overwatch saved the world in the war with omnics decades ago then became kind of international military/scientific organization. Soldier76 were strike commander of the Overwatch. Then everything went down, there were some shady things inside Overwatch which all led to massive backlash and the UN decided to close Overwatch and claim all agent activities illegal. Tracer now retired in London where she trying to do some good herself. Other agents doing their stuff: healing, inventing, participating in transnational terroristic organizations etc.
If you didn’t notice, the man pictured most prominently on the poster *is* Jack Morrison/S76 before he became a vigilante. Alejandra’s mother is a member of the “Overwatch generation,” when Overwatch was the revered group of heroes depicted in the poster. Alejandra herself only knows the world from after Overwatch’s collapse, so she can’t bring herself to believe in those kinds of heroes... until she sees one for herself.
when this short came out, the first thing that caught my attention, was Alejandra "descending into the darkness" the way she goes from that street and it's colors, to the alley and it's darkness, and how 76 literally "brings her back" and then he goes deeper in.
Bit of lore for you the reason he doesnt say hes a hero anymore is because the overwatch orginization was disbanded. He had to fake his own death because he was the leader and everyone thought overwatch was bad. They were going to kill him. He said old habits die hard because he still works in the shadows as a vigilante. Thats what the recall animation was, it was winston calling the group back together.
More so everyone assumes he's dead. The apex of the infighting led to either a self imposed destruction or an accidental one of the Swiss HQ. Leaving both Jack and Reyes seemingly for dead.
@@goldieholdie6317 yea but the explosion of the swiss HQ is what broke the camels back and gave Petras EXACTLY what he needed to get his accords signed into order.
Jack Morrison was the Strike commander of Overwatch but once the shit hit the fan and the Overwatch HQ blew up he was presumed dead... some time later a vigilante known only as soldier seventy six started to hunt down those suspected of Overwatches downfall...
WAIT FINAL??? I don't remember you reacting to the original "Overwatch" one yet? How can you watch the Overwatch 2 Trailer before the Overwatch 1 Trailer???
15:17 "You went to get flowers, how much money did you have?" Flour, not flower. The kind to make bread and such. Thus the big bag she's carrying back home at the end of the cinematic. xD
24:03 is a really cool scene to me because Soldier stops walking and the number 76 on his back is in the middle of light and shadow, she asked him if he is one of "those heroes", which would be the light of his image, but once he says he isn't anymore the number is now covered in darkness... It's a nice touch :)
@@ChrisConnorFilms Did you watch Reunion as well? There is a total of 10 shorts before Zero Hour: Recall ✔, Alive ✔, Dragons ✔, The Last Bastion ✔, Infiltration ✔, Honor And Glory ✔, Shooting Star ✔, HERO ✔ - you are watching now, and I think you are missing Rise And Shine for sure, and I can't find you watching Reunion as well. 13:00 - because overwatch corporation was shutdow by the UN by the "Petra's Act", you can see that in the recall cinematic, when athena pointed that overwatch activity is illegal. so this cinematic is actually in the present of the lore, and all we've seen about the overwatch heroes are actually in the past of the lore
i hope you react to some overwatch origin stories like the Doomfist one( this on is made like an anime unlike the others). they are pretty nice, you get to know the characters a bit better, short (so maybe 2-3 per episode) and more characters.

@@kitsune7806 No, no it is not stupid to hear a language and for your first thoughts to be of its country of origin instead of racking your brain for *every* other place on earth that speaks Spanish.
To clarify why the soldier is so fast and strong in the lore is explained that he is some kind of super soldier just like captain america the government did some kind of experiments with him (and apperently other soldiers)
13:00 because overwatch was dissolved by a Reaper attack in addition to the bad image that overwatch had because of blackwatch that is an outlaw operations team of overwatch that was discovered by the public eye (thats a summary)
Soldier 76 (Jack Morrison) was part of a super soldier program before/during the Omnic Crises (when robots, "Omnics", attacked humanity - that's why they're often mistreated). He and his team gained a lot of fame during the Crisis and became founding members of Overwatch, to make sure a second Omnic Crises couldn't arise. Morrison was made head of that organization (thus the prominent shot of his face in 8:12), partially due to his "Captain America" poster-boy looks. But over time that led to resentment from his former squad mate and best friend Gabriel Reyes (seen as Reaper is several cinematics). When Reyes' ruthless actions in Overwatch's secret branch "Blackwatch" came to light, political pressure to disband Overwatch rose. Eventually the two clashed in open battle in the middle of the Overwatch headquarters. The fight ended when something triggered an explosion in the building and (supposedly) killed both - and many others. With such an event and the fallout of all the declassified information that followed, Overwatch was disbanded. Now Morrison - masked and under the handle "Soldier 76" - is working in secret to try and uncover what really happened behind the scenes that lead to that downfall. The cinematics are set roughly 5 years after the fall of Overwatch, that's why Alejandra regards them as Heroes of the past. The Omnic Crisis, which was their original Hero years, is even further back; 30 years ago.
Hey I’m sorry honestly I love seeing you react to overwatch animations but this new change really changes things, this sounds different and the screen isn’t as big as what it used to be, unlike your other videos the sound well sounds like it’s from the video... this one sounds like your recording it on your phone. Please fix’s this to the old set up, love your vids.
This is an amazing analysis. Overwatch, the original fighters for justice, was disbanded. Most of these shorts take place after Overwatch was already disbanded. But, they are finally getting back together. That's why some of them mention that they have "been called" like in Honor and Glory, Reunion, and Rise and Shine. (Because in Recall, they were all brought back together by Winston).
I think important things to note that you didn't seem to cover: 1. The thug refers to her by a nickname for her first name, so it's likely they know each other on some level. This is important to me because it explains why she's not quite so afraid of him and ends up chasing after - even though he's clearly a bad egg, it's likely they've known each other for years, so she likely sees him more like someone sees a school bully, rather than a dangerous criminal (even though he's actually the latter). 2. Soldier's expressions through his eyebrows. When the girl looks at him with hope in her eyes right after she realizes he did this for her (when he throws her her purse), it's as if it hurts him. It's like his heart opens up for a brief second, then he hardens it. He doesn't like it. He has to look away. This makes more sense knowing his backstory, with him thinking he's failed everyone and he doesn't want people to look up to him like that anymore, because he's afraid his failures will get them killed, like so many people in the past.
If you remember back to the "Last Bastion" Cinematic it portrayed memories of lost bastion units being destroyed or at war with military soldiers. That was the First "Omnic War" Omnics being sentient robots capable of thought and emotion. Overwatch was formed to stop the omnic war it consisted of Solder 76 (based on him being the 76th soldier of his genetic super-soldier serum. Reyes (Reaper before he became reaper) Tracer, Mercy Mccree, and so on. they were then shut down and so that's why Winston in HIS cinematic is reuniting overwatch.
Informative and fun as usual! For the setup, I much prefer the old setup as it shows the screen more and more relaxing to look at with the plant For the overwatch stuff, overwatch was banned by the world government after the omnics(sentient robots) went down the first time and is deemed dangerous in that time For Soldier 76, he was Jack Morisson, the former leader of Overwatch before he got betrayed by Reyes(Reaper) The betrayal of Blackwatch(basically special ops of Overwatch which is lead by Reaper before he goes all angsty) is what makes overwatch got banned and put down by the world government
In Recall they talk about how Overwatch was forced to be disbanded, in Rise and Shine (you need to see this before Zero Hour) the video give you a bit of a timeline in the events. About the history of Soldier 76, there are a few short videos (less than 2 minutes each one) called origin that you can also see the past of a few characters like Soldier 76, Ashe or Echo (the robot in Reunion)
Here's what I know about 76: Jack Morrison (you can see him in the poster the girl tears down) was the commander of Overwatch during the Omnic Crisis (the war between robots and humans). At the end of the crisis, Overwatch was framed and destroyed by an attack by Talon (Reaper and Widowmaker's faction) and Morrison was presumed killed in the bombing of Overwatch HQ. However, Morrison had been part of a super soldier program and survived because of his bio-enhancements (also how he covered ~50ft and saved the girl in less than a second). Morrison took up the identity of Soldier 76 and has been working behind the scenes for years (now modern times) to bring justice to the people who destroyed Overwatch.
12:54 Overwatch was an elite crimefighting organization. They protected the world from big threats and helped all around. Commander Jack Morisson (alias Soldier: 76), was the founder of overwatch, along with his collegues Ana Amari (alias: none) and Gabriel Reyes (aliasses Soldier:24 and Reaper). Overwatch came under fire when it was revealed that the organization had an off-the-books subdivision named Blackwatch, under command of Gabriel Reyes. People grew hateful towards Overwatch, and after a terrorist attack on the headquarters where both Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes were presumed dead, Overwatch was disbanded. After the disbanding, Overwatch agents began doing different things. Some turned into mercenaries, like Reaper (who survived the attack), and you've seen him and the new accomplices in action in the short "Infiltration". Others turned into vigilantes, like you saw Soldier 76 do in this short. All the shorts that you've seen, unless there were flashbacks, play out after the disbanding of Overwatch and before Winston reinstated Overwatch in the short "Recall". The lore is really good and I encourage you to just watch a video on its entirety.
The first shot of the cinematic also shows it's happening in the past because in the game there is a huge pyramid in the background of this map, lead by Lumerico wich Soldier tries to shut down. Also it's the action takes place in Dorado in Mexico.
Basically if you want some lore, This guy used to be the leader of overwatch, which later disbanded because the public feared them. His name is Solider 76, also know as Jack (I forgot last name). He’s the guy on the poster along with tracer and mercy Overwatch has a darker side called black watch. Blackwatchs leader is Gabriel Morrison, also who you might know as *plot twist* Reaper. They were responsible for the less savory jobs overwatch were to do. This included Gabriel (reaper) Jesse Mcree, Genji, and a 4th character called Moria, who doesn’t have a cinematic but has a back story. After overwatch was destroyed, Solider was thought to be dead, but he’s still alive and fighting crime.
Soldier 76, also known as Jack Morrison, he was the leader of Overwatch and was considered dead after the split division of Overwatch blew up the headquarters, his in game character is as follows: he is a typical fps shooter character, he can sprint faster then most characters, has a machine gun and an under-barrel rocket, he has a small health pack he can drop to slowly heal himself and allies, and like the video suggest, his visor is indeed aim-bot hacks. Also, Jack is the character on the "Los Protectores" poster the top right corner.
Basic story of Overwatch: The Omnic Crisis was a war between man and machine and Overwatch was, a special organization, tasked with ending it. After the war, Overwatch had some controversy that ended with the Petres Act, that made any Overwatch activity illegal. As you saw in Recall, Winston brought Overwatch back together do to extreme violence around the world. This is were the story of the game takes place
Soldier 76 story is he was a soldier that was experimented on during the omni crisis and got enhanced strength, speed, etc. His name is Jack Morrison and he was the 76th soldier in the experimental program. After the omni crisis he became the Commander for Overwatch. Overwatch ran into trouble(corruption, spies, etc.) and he was believed KIA when their Swiss headquarters blew up(Which then lead to Overwatch being shut down). People believed the HQ explosion was caused by a fight between Morrison and his friend(Gabriel Reyes aka Reaper (not Reaper at the time)). Morrison later raided some Overwatch facilities, got his gear and is looking to expose those whom lead to Overwatch being shut down.
The character centered in this cinematic has a TON of lore behind him; Soldier 76 is the post-fall version of Jack Morrison, Strike Commander of Overwatch as an organization after the initial Omnic Crisis (during the earlier days, Gabriel Reyes, who turned into Reaper post-fall, was the leader of the small strike team that was the metaphorical seed that would grow into Overwatch as a worldwide organization, and the two were quite close way back when they were both in an experimental Soldier Enhancement Program to make them better fit to fight against the omnic threat). In the late days of Overwatch, tensions were rising and the public eye was firmly planted on the organization after a mission lead by Blackwatch (the covert ops, "no red tape" organization within Overwatch, and lead by Gabriel Reyes) goes wrong in Venice, leading to a public exposure of the more gritty shadow within Overwatch and causing the public to start to distrust the organization as a whole. While dealing with trying to calm the public and assure them that Overwatch was still wanting to serve and protect the world and promote peace, tragedy strikes; an Overwatch base located in Switzerland was hit from the inside, and the majority of the base was blown away in an explosion, supposedly killing Strike Commander Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes, as well as several other members of the organization. Some fans theorize that Moira's experiments on Reyes (Moira being a brilliant scientist that worked for Blackwatch due to the nature of her experiments being too unethical for Overwatch itself) causing him to be able to turn into smoke, as well as the SEP enhancements is what saved him, and just the SEP enhancements saved Morrison, but both of them simply rolled with their assumed deaths and took up new identities; Gabriel Reyes as Reaper, a mercenary working for Talon (the same Talon that had been the cause of a good portion of Overwatch's problems, as well as the cause behind an attack on a Blackwatch base) and Jack Morrison as a wandering vigilante known only as Soldier 76, scouring the world and doing whatever he has to to try and uncover the truth behind the explosion and the fall of Overwatch, and squash anyone who gets in his way. As a small bonus bit of fan-speculated lore (not confirmed by Blizzard, but fairly possible) some people think the reason he was in Dorado (the city this cinematic takes place in) and hunting Los Muertos was because Sombra (the hacker from the Infiltration cinematic) had connections to them when she was younger, working with the gang while she gathered secrets and got her cybernetic enhancements, and that Sombra might be able to help him uncover some well buried dirt on Talon.
So the location is the OW map Dorado. It is speculated that the girl might even be Sombra as a child. Also as mentioned below he was able to dive on the girl to protect her because because he has a ability to have increase sprint speed. (Soldier 76 is basically a joke character to all other fps games that allow you to sprint forever, auto-target enemies with mods, and self heal by taking cover. That is also part of the reason his character is a random soldier #)
Strike Commander Jack Morrison of Overwatch was originally an American soldier in the Omnic Crisis. He was the 76th soldier inducted into the American Super Soldier program, like Captain America style but mass-produced to many soldiers. Gabriel Reyes (Reaper) was also in this progam, him being the 24th soldier. Over the years since Overwatch's fomation, controversy after controversy arose surrounding them, with angry masses claiming they'd become the very thing they'd sworn to destroy. Reyes was at some unknown point compromised by Talon, and became one of their agents. Some great altercation at Overwatch's headquarters in Switzerland lead to both Jack and Gabriel "dying" (though both actually lived) and the building severely (if not completely) damaged. Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes ceased to exist, instead giving birth to Soldier: 76 and Reaper. Soldier: 76's driving purpose is to bring the truth of Overwatch's demise to light, and bring Reaper and all of Talon to justice. He's a vigilante, a fugitive wanted in several countries and viewed as a terrorist by others.
I like how reaper is seen as the hyper violent edge lord with no mercy and soldier as the Grey area (and hair) anti-hero, but if you compare the short infiltration to this one, reaper is the one sparing an unconsious but alive enemy while soldier brutally pounds his enemies to death even when they're begging for mercy
Soldier 76's real name is Jack Morrison. He has enhanced abilities (increased strength, agility, speed) because he was part of a "Soldier Enhancement Program" that is basically like the Super Soldier program Captain America went through in Marvel Comics. Anyway, Jack was the leader of Overwatch. He's actually the blonde guy in the "los protectores" poster that Alejandra looks at in the beginning and takes with her at the end. Global drama and politics led to Overwatch being declared illegal and disbanded a long time ago. That's why Alejandra's mom talks about them like they're in the past. This is also why in the "Recall" cinematic, Winston was hesitant to put out the call to get Overwatch together again (because they're illegal now). After the fall of Overwatch, Jack Morrison was thought to have died in an explosion in one Overwatch base. But he survived. He took up the name "Soldier:76" and is now doing vigilante work. To me it seems like during Overwatch's prime, Jack was portrayed as a very super hero-like "good guy" type of character. Very much a captain america type character, he was the face of Overwatch (just look at the poster lol). But after having gone through all that crap and almost dying, he changed. It made him "angsty", like you described. This cinematic puts a big emphasis on that. It really highlights how much angrier he is and how much more violently he fights. Even though he's still on a mission for justice, he no longer sees himself as a good guy. He's now a vengeful spirit, who's willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve his goals. Which is why when Alejandra asks him, "You're one of those heroes, aren't you?", he responds with "Not anymore". Despite all that though, Jack can't help but BE a hero - at least to Alejandra. He has a fixation on eradicating the "Los Muertos" gang that he fights in this cinematic, but when faced with the choice between giving pursuit to the gang members or saving the life of the girl, he chose to save the girl. And at the end, we see him not only watching over the city, but watching over Alejandra, specifically. He was there to make sure she got home safe, and it suggests that he had been watching over her longer than that because somehow he knew that Los Muertos stole her money and made it a point to return it to her, at the cost of putting the fight against the gang - the mission - on hold.
Soldier 76 is Commander Morrison, the poster the little girl took from the wall of the streets, the guy with the white hair - that was him. He was part of overwatch (duh) and long story short he was often commanding their missions. One of his best buddies was Reaper - Gabriel Reyes (Soldier 24). So they created Blackwatch - for dirty missions, and Reaper onone of that missions straight up killed one of the bad guys while he was commanded to bring him alive. So the public saw overwatch figures involved with killing of a man, so they shutdown overwatch etc etc. Also - I love the setup, SO COZY!
As others have pointed out, the organization of overwatch has been disbanded for some time at this point, think about the Reinhardt cinematic and how young he was at the start when he joins, and how much he’s aged at the end when he has been recalled. Something that might be throwing you off is tracer, who doesn’t age because of her time displacement. So in the tracer cinematic, which is supposed to be modern day, she still looks exactly the same as she looked in that overwatch poster. The game overwatch takes place after the group’s recall, which Winston put in place. The original group had been disbanded for maybe 15-20 years by then.
22:53 He was a part of American supersolider project, and he is the only character in the actual game who has sprint as an ability, so yeah, he is probably way faster than regular human.
Not Spain, Mexico. Not the future but the timeline of the lore: Overwatch got formed with more and more heroes joining the cause. They saved Humanity during the Omnic wars (the Omnic crisis being still active during the story), then got disbanded for multiple reasons (including Reaper doing shady things). The heroes then becomed vigilantes like Soldier 76 here (who was Overwatch's commander). Not sure if other comments mentionned that but here. Glad you enjoy them ^^! (also as another comment pointed out, he's a super soldier, hence his running/action speed and strength/resistance to the blast :).
That setup is pretty damn cozy. As a little suggestion to your keyboard alternative, maybe get a program like xpadder that can translate controller presses into keyboard and mouse presses so you can just control the mouse and spacebar with a controller.
Honestly, I mainly watch these because of how excited you get at these like I do. Your analysis is just a bonus. Would suggest watching "Warbringer: Sylvanas" from the Warcraft Universe. Not much to visually explain, however it does give you insight into the dead elf lady, and explains the start of the series you've already watched. Also, would like to see you do "World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor" cinematic. It's pretty epic.
tiny info that might be missing: Soldier 76 aka comander Jack Morrison is the blond guy on the poster. The location is supposed to be mexiko. You maybe remember Sobra, she also made deals with these gangs. (but i think this was only mentioned in the origin story's). Most of the character have an animated comic style video called origin story. They give a short summ up to the chracter back ground.
22:00 could this be somewhat fixed by adding a second or so of black screen and silence? Like 1) girl screams + riser sound effect 2) cut to black and silence for half a second to a second 3) cut to the explosion (maybe same shot of explosion even) Basically add tension and make timing feel more believable. At least the way it's playing in my head seems to work.
Just realized, sound-wise my idea would be similar to the scene from the Wolverine stand alone movie where the nuke goes off and logan saves the guy who would become the antagonistic from dying. Probably cut into a more traditional explosion sound effect though, a simple grenade would not make sense for that immense of a sound.
tl;dr about Soldier 76 - He was the main leader of Overwatch - Some bad stuff happened, there was a big fight, which resulted in a huge explosion - He was presumed dead, but actually survived, severely injured - He was healed as much as the healer could, and got cybernetic parts for the rest (thus the visor, etc.) - He's going around as a Vigilante to find out what really happened that got overwatch disbanded (thus the angst)
The reseason why the mother talks about the "heroes of the past" is because in the OW story, the Overwatch team was disbanded. Remember the animation with the monke-- er, scientist? The question raised was whether Winston should RECALL the Overwatch agents to active duty. To bring them back. Hope that helps!
"Junkertown: The Plan" is a very short cinematic and worth watching for the comic relief. "Rise and Shine" is Mei's cinematic and one of the best. It ranks up there with the brothers, Bastion, and Reinhardt cinematics. They deserve some of your love before you do "Zero Hour" - especially "Rise and Shine." You'll understand why once you see it.
One of soldier’s abilities in the game is sprint. The impossible speed to save the girl from the grenade is probably a nod to that. Also, that’s soldier on the poster before the shades.
The poster with tracer was made like 9 or 10 years ago. The organization was disbanded 8 years ago and is just being remade now. Soldier 76 was actually the leader of the organization until him and reaper/reyes had a falling put that lead to one of their hq blowing up and both being thought dead. Now soldier 76 is on a one man world vigilante tour while winston and tracer try to rebuild overwatch. Also, soldier 76 was his designation in the US super soldier program while reaper was soldier 24. That's why they can do the things they do but reaper got a second super soldier enhancement later to turn into smoke.
About the gang "los muertos", remember Sombra? from the russian factory short film? she is part of that gang. she even has a skin that is the glow in the dark tattoos
Soldier: 76 is a US soldier who was enhanced (like captain America) as part or the US's response against the omnic crisis (robot uprising). Each country had their own response, the Germans had the crusaders, the Koreans and the Russians had mechs, the Egyptians had snipers with cyborg eyes, the us had super soldiers. Reaper was also part of this program, and was the head of Overwatch's black ops division, blackwatch. Soldier: 76 was the strike commander of overwatch, and is presumed dead after an incident involving Reaper at Overwatch headquarters, which was part of the reason overwatch was disbanded by the UN. Soldier: 76 has been working as a vigilante, stealing his equipment from various agencies in order to uncover the conspiracy behind the disbanding of overwatch (sombra is also working on figuring out a major conspiracy that likely involves the same). Reaper (soldier:54)has been working for Talon, an organization which seeks to provoke another omnic crisis with the purpose of evolving mankind. Reaper works alongside Moira, another former member of blackwatch and the scientist who gave reaper his spooky powers, sombra, widowmaker, who was brain was into murdering her husband, a higher up in overwatch, and Doomfist, the leader of Talon. Genji and McCree are the other two former blackwatch members, who really really dislike reaper and Moira. Hanzo (Genji's brother) has refused offers from Doomfist to rebuild his father's criminal empire in exchange for joining Talon, but has also refused to join his brother in overwatch.
Notice how Alejandra comes out of a green door, she herself is also dressed in full green and the store stalls are the only other green in the entire cinematic.
Thank you for breaking this one down. I really enjoy your energy and the points you bring out that I don't catch. On this one, the specific of removing frames from a fight scene to enhance the sense of action is a great, subtle idea. Rise and Shine does not have as much action and tends to be more of a character piece, but since it does introduce an important character in Zero Hour, it would be good to cover it. I also trust you will help me see more in it than I already do. ;) Thanks again and keep going!
i look forward to every one of these videos i love them all and you’re awesome!! but you definitely have to watch the Rise and Shine cinematic still, it’s so good!
Yup, there's still "Rise and Shine", some are saying it's boring.. I don't think it is. It doesn't have the action and fight scenes like in most of these clips, but it's still great. It's still got some drama to it although most is light hearted and it's, more importantly, super important for the story. Definitely should see it before Zero Hour. You'll know why once you get to it. *cough even though we should be here for the filmmaking tips and tricks *cough, but seeing you react so passionately to all these shorts is just a treat. .. 18:48 Chris just flexing on us scrubs xD 22:52 "maybe he has super-speed".... well... he's not called "legs" for no reason
21:36 I kinda feel like this might have worked better without that last shot of him turning around - we could have filled in the blanks that it was during the cuts of the grenade beeping and Alejandra covering her face that he ran to shield her from the blast, and it also would've been less obvious that he did so instead of giving chase until the reveal.
13:00 because overwatch was group that save the world in the 2060 from the omnic and the game and the cinematic are collocate 10/20 years late than the war of the omnic...and the overwatch "group" fell after internal strife shortly after the war ended
Thanks Hero! "Sigma Origin Story" is the video I would recommend for Overwatch series. Unlike other animations, it may look like a paraplegic cartoon. However, if I had to describe this video in one word, it would be "perfect".
Lore-wise the original Overwatch trailer and Soldier 76's origin story (1-2 min cinematic) gives a good timeline of the Overwatch universe. Plus, of course, Rise and Shine as many have already mentioned missing. Can't wait to see you react to some more though.
They speak as if everything is way back in time because Overwatch's story starts with Overwatch having already served for years and being disbanded for years, and Winston (gorilla scientist) recalling the team. This cinematic takes place way after the disbanding of Overwatch, but probably before the Recall of Winston though we can't be 100% sure.

MEI!
yeah, you missed Rise and Shine
Big Fan of both you and this channel.
Hey Zalzar big fan of you.
hello you
when this short came out, the first thing that caught my attention, was Alejandra "descending into the darkness"
the way she goes from that street and it's colors, to the alley and it's darkness, and how 76 literally "brings her back" and then he goes deeper in.
@@animo358 didnt they get forcefully disbanded by the people? I remember the mei animation had newspapers with something along those lines.
@@goldieholdie6317 yea but the explosion of the swiss HQ is what broke the camels back and gave Petras EXACTLY what he needed to get his accords signed into order.
He didn’t really fake his death
He didn't go advertising he was alive though. No one really faked there Death in Overwatch. They just let others think they were dead
Jack Morrison was the Strike commander of Overwatch but once the shit hit the fan and the Overwatch HQ blew up he was presumed dead... some time later a vigilante known only as soldier seventy six started to hunt down those suspected of Overwatches downfall...
Also, "Soldier 76" was his code name in the Super Soldier program (Gabriel aka Reaper was the "Soldier 24")

Flour, not flower.
I'd love to see you react/analyze Final Fantasy 14 ARR trailers and the "Flames of truth" cinematic from said game.

When the truck drives away - it's playing music from a character in the universe that is a DJ. Cool they incorporated that in a different setting.
I'm so pumped you're ready for Zero Hour (so you've been listening to us about the plan!
For the setup, I much prefer the old setup as it shows the screen more and more relaxing to look at with the plant
For the overwatch stuff, overwatch was banned by the world government after the omnics(sentient robots) went down the first time and is deemed dangerous in that time
For Soldier 76, he was Jack Morisson, the former leader of Overwatch before he got betrayed by Reyes(Reaper)
The betrayal of Blackwatch(basically special ops of Overwatch which is lead by Reaper before he goes all angsty) is what makes overwatch got banned and put down by the world government
2:08 youptupe
Here's what I know about 76:
Jack Morrison (you can see him in the poster the girl tears down) was the commander of Overwatch during the Omnic Crisis (the war between robots and humans).
Love the new setup! Looks really cool! Also, I know lots of people have said it already, but dont forget about the rise and shine cinematic!
You should see the Origin videos of the overwatch characters. Gives a little bit of history and lore about them.
The first shot of the cinematic also shows it's happening in the past because in the game there is a huge pyramid in the background of this map, lead by Lumerico wich Soldier tries to shut down.
Also it's the action takes place in Dorado in Mexico.
Basically if you want some lore,
This guy used to be the leader of overwatch, which later disbanded because the public feared them. His name is Solider 76, also know as Jack (I forgot last name). He’s the guy on the poster along with tracer and mercy
Overwatch has a darker side called black watch.
Hey Chris! Poster is referring to OW 1.0 but they eventually disbanded. Most of these cinematics are the lead up to the reformation of OW 2.0
I shall once more make an attempt att bringing the Final Fantasy XIV cinematics into light, for Chris to see.
As a small bonus bit of fan-speculated lore (not confirmed by Blizzard, but fairly possible) some people think the reason he was in Dorado (the city this cinematic takes place in) and hunting Los Muertos was because Sombra (the hacker from the Infiltration cinematic) had connections to them when she was younger, working with the gang while she gathered secrets and got her cybernetic enhancements, and that Sombra might be able to help him uncover some well buried dirt on Talon.
do not miss "rise and shine" before see "zero hour" is an important cinematic and well you also forget the launch trailer of overwatch 1
It adds nothing to the story so it's ok but Rise and Shine on the other hand... No one should miss it
So the location is the OW map Dorado.
Like
1) girl screams + riser sound effect
2) cut to black and silence for half a second to a second
3) cut to the explosion (maybe same shot of explosion even)
Basically add tension and make timing feel more believable.
This cinematic takes place in Dorado a fictional city in Mexico. Funny thing is they actually used Manarola, Italy as a reference for the Dorado map.
Stellaris Apocalypse please!!!!!!!! Love your videos Man! 😎
tl;dr about Soldier 76
- He was the main leader of Overwatch
- Some bad stuff happened, there was a big fight, which resulted in a huge explosion
- He was presumed dead, but actually survived, severely injured
- He was healed as much as the healer could, and got cybernetic parts for the rest (thus the visor, etc.)
- He's going around as a Vigilante to find out what really happened that got overwatch disbanded (thus the angst)
That blond haired man on the poster, that was him.
The Man in the Background on the Poster is Jack Morrison (Soldier 76).
The Base explodes and everybody thought he died in the Base.
Nice setup and video love you Chris ❤️have a nice day
Soldier: 76 is a US soldier who was enhanced (like captain America) as part or the US's response against the omnic crisis (robot uprising).
Every time I see this, I remember Dafran's Hero cinematic. (Dafran is the best OW 76 aimbot)
I also trust you will help me see more in it than I already do. ;)
Thanks again and keep going!
Did you remember Reunion? That one is also important before Zero Hour
i look forward to every one of these videos i love them all and you’re awesome!! but you definitely have to watch the Rise and Shine cinematic still, it’s so good!
i just lvoe the casual, "nani" there at the begining, it caught me so off guard.

22:52 "maybe he has super-speed".... well... he's not called "legs" for no reason
I love “took a turn” like it didn’t already start with a hate crime
New setup looks awesome!
U forgot about "Rise and Shine" its quite important to watch that one before zero hour
12:55 because overwatch was created a long time ago and it was disbanded. (Remember the Winston cinematic)
