With Spider-Man 2 just around the corner and that symbiote running through my veins, I couldn't help but fire up Ultimate Spider-Man. The art style in this game is timeless, but is the open world design and gameplay? It's time to go back to an unlikely, comic book inspired Spidey game and find out!

It might not be as packed with content as some of the other games, but its art style has allowed it to age gracefully. Love the story and gameplay. My favourite Spiderman game.
Got this, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland for my birthday when I was younger, it was the best freaking year of my life.
Crazy because I got the Hulk and this one but I got Budokai Tenkaichi 2 instead, memories go crazy
Man I’ve been playing this game on the GameCube since I was like 6 years old. It’s still just as fun as it was back then and I’m thankful that I still have it. Playing as venom always made me feel like a beast as a kid

My grandma got me this for Christmas when It came out. I was maybe 13. Best Christmas ever. I'm 32 now and I still remember how excited I was. I remember it being sooooo short though.

This game is how I’d want an invincible video game adaptation to be handled. Not only do you play as mark Grayson but you’ll have to play either as some villains or Omni-man maybe do a mission as omniman killing and then play the aftermath and figure out the mystery as invincible
I recently started to reread the Ultimate Spider-Man comic, and seeing those cutscenes was so cool because they look like they’re ripped straight from the comics
There’s a reshade on PC for this game that is pretty much a remaster. It’s fantastic

if u got a ps2 emulator like pcsx2 and find the bios files (either a PC or android device) and the iso file of the actual game....there ya go 🤷♂️

11:00 - city goals are good and somewhat real because spider man after big events in his life always going back to be friendly neighbourhood spider man and do city events waiting for new big events. Being spider man is not only beating big bad guys but it's a symbol of helping people

This is probably my favorite Spider-Man game. I love it so much. Couple of highlights from me are how Rhino's fight isn't just the usual mindless "jump out of the way to make him smash against the wall" crap and when playing as Venom you literally get to kill the annoying kid with the balloon from Spider-Man 2. Hilarious.
Man, I loved playing the Ultimate Spider-Man Video Game with my PS2 because it brings so many memories. Now, I want to read the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. I still listen to the OST from the game to this very day.

I remember not loving the movie tie in games when I was younger. But I loved Ultimate Spider-Man, more fun graphics, a slightly bit more mature, and let you play as Venom. Such a huge selling point to be able to play venom in free roam after you beat the game

A remake of this game would be sick. I know the art style is timeless but imagine if it was upressed, 60fps and a greater draw distance, a proper more modern map system. This game would slap.
The way they did the art style in Shattered Dimensions is even better, it would look amazing on modern hardware

Would be awesome if they had an unlockable cell shading filter for everything on screen, in Spider-Man 2. I also thought DLC or a spin off based on each world of Shattered Dimensions could be good.

Just replayed this masterpiece myself and finally got the Black Suit. It took me a week to get it mainly because of johnny storm and my schedule but it feels so good to 100% this childhood classic.

About 3 mins into the vid, as ur talking I always wondered why Ultimate Spider-Man was the forgotten one (or at least not talked about as often) among the several Spidey games out there.
Especially since I think the ps4 entries imo take more cues from Ultimate Spider-Man than I think ppl realize or would care to admit.
I don’t think it’s a perfect game, but this game needs it’s flowers.
I love this game. I just wish there was an easier way to get the Symbiote Suit and a NG+ to play as it from the beginning of the game.

I know up next is probably TASM 2, but please do Spiderman 2000 from the PS1 at some point, it's definitely my favourite Spiderman game ever made.
zipping around might have more detail/mechanics in Ps5 spiderman but I had more fun swinging through nyc in ultimate spiderman (edit: maybe it was the speed of going through the city)
This was my favorite Spider-man game before Insomniac's game came out.
This game still holds up I recently completed it, getting all the costumes and tokens was so much fun. This was when Spider-Man was at his best. No stupid screw ball challenges, no hold square and move left analog stick to do air tricks. This game was so much fun
I just passed this game last week and it's still so much damn fun. For me, the best part of the game is being able to play as Venom and do some brutal things like eating a little kid lol, snapping enemies backs, consuming humans for health and more. Plus the boss battles while playing as Venom was awesome, Wolverine, Carnage, electro, Silver Sable and more. Of course, playing as Spider-Man is fun as well, the web swinging isn't the best but being able to climb ur web while swinging makes it so fun to keep ur momentum going, especially during races. I really love this game, the art style, the story, the bosses, it's a childhood classic. 2nd best Spider-Man game and I hope we see some things from here implemented in Spider-Man 2 (2023).
Craziest part about this game is that they kept venom in a syrup bottle from I hop.

Honestly I don't get the over hype of this game, it's original due to it's comical graphics which is a positive note on this game, not to mention the genius web swinging mechanics but the boss fights are so unbelievably bad it's sad. the beetle boss fight is on the quick and easy side but the green goblin, Carnage and Venom final boss fight are so unenjoyable. If this game were to be remastered I hope they make the fights more enjoyable

2:00 the cover art you loved was drawn by Mark Bagely, the USM artist at the time. However, it was not drawn for the game. That pic of “Spidey” was culled from an issue of USM. An issue where a bank robber dresses like Spider-Man and goes on a spree. For some reason, they went with a panel of the impostor instead of the actual Spider-Man! So, yeah, that guy on the cover is a criminal.
The weirdest part is Bagely did a ton of art for this game. His art style is even imitated in the graphics. How? How did they not get him to do a new exclusive cover?

As a kid I had trouble with the electro boss fight. Had trouble luring him to the hydrants. Then I realized that throwing cars had the same effect on him.

Honestly not a bad idea. We also considered doing a movie like compilation of all of them once I'm done just so it's all in one place for those who don't want to hunt around.
Bro one thing you learn is to respond to any event as it spawns don't wait till you need it. You only need to do a set amount to complete the game and can definitely grind them out in the beginning

I purchased a copy from Vintage Stock. I think I got it for like $50.
It's a simple game, but still really fun. And honestly. with it having a climb button, the traversal is more complex and fun than insomniac's spiderman's traversal.

Yo fr I have NO idea why there's so much hate for the ASM2 game. I played it before SMPC came out and liked it quite a bit, I was even happy when I saw that they borrowed some of the stealth elements from that game, although I'm glad they made it a little easier on the player lol

I was like 8 or 9 when playing this and was stuck at the mission with Rhino for like a year or two, I was too young to look it up on the internet and in the moment when rhino was stuck in the cement I was always failing😅 fun times
Also, chasing missions with beetle and the fire guy were like inhumanly difficult when I was a kid, I was certain it was impossible to beat them😂

I remember I got this game before my 6th grade exams and I was so excited to play this game when they were over. For the whole month I was just looking at the box art of this game and imagining stuff about how cool it would be. And cool it was. I will still say I prefer Spider Man 2 more but this game is very awesome as well.

Sorry idgaf about amazing spider man, web of shadows, spiderman 2. Hands down this was in my opinion the best and my favorite spider man. I actually felt like spider man and its one of the only games even in 2024 that took a comic art style applied it to the game correctly and doesnt even look bad by todays standards. The shit was made in early 2000s and was better graphically then just cause 4 and cyberpunk
I'm playing through this game right now. I haven't played it since I was a kid. It's always been one of my favorite Spider-Man games. However, I always disliked having to complete side objectives just to be able to play through the main story.
