Totally agree, I think this interior is great. I mean, the people that buy these sometimes do buy different versions of this whenever they replace their family car...I have an aunt that went from a mid trim Yukon XL, then an XL Denali, a newer XL Denali, and now has an Escalade ESV. And Denali specifically definitely has luxury Brand cache in the suburbs...
You don’t get the reality of the size of this thing without Mark standing next to it. Jack being on the talk side makes this brick seem somewhat moderate, size wise. We need our star manlet to really invoke the feeling of massive when reviewing SUVs & Trucks.
When the audio is tuned with no highs and bumpy bass, the effort was clearly made to calibrate the features to its intended audience. This was made to scare old people in their 20-year-old Camry and Avalon retirement vehicles, and to know it's proper place and to bow in the presence of an Escalade.
Our lease on a German competitor is coming up and we looked at one of these, unfortunately for $100k, still has too much of the rubbery GMC switchgear. Perfect for a GMC Pickup, for a $100,000 SUV, no thank you. Props to them for including the option of the 3.0 liter diesel.
While Savage Geese does make Monday mornings better, what is the purpose of the "Ultimate" trim if it brings a Yukon Denali to the price of some Escalades? Do customers choose this because they like the exterior and interior more?
I think you're right, people choose this because they like the more rugged look or they find the Escalade pricing just too absurd/offensive. Some wealthyish folks probably prefer being slightly less flashy driving around in a GMC Denali than the Escalade. GM is definitely pushing the edge of eeking out every niche trim level they can get with this platform. Tahoe, High Country, AT4, Denali, Escalade, Platinum, V, XL, etc. and now this Ultimate, lol. On top of that, there are more engine choices available for each trim than in the past...I guess more consumer choices are better than less...but it does make it more confusing if you're trying to pick which one you like the look of and has the features you want. In general, I'm not a huge fan of these sorts of trucks as they are really big money regardless of model/trim for a vehicle that is not particularly bespoke or special, They have their purpose for hauling people, stuff, and towing (or at least perceived purpose with the amount of these being driven around as commuter vehicles in Texas...)
We've owned our 2017 Yukon Denali for 5 years and most of my wife's driving is in town short trips. Ours is loaded with every option imaginable and 4 wd. Not once have we ever averaged 14mpg. Most of the time its 17-18 mpg according to the computer. So I'm trying to figure WTH kind of driving you have to do to get 14 mpg in rural areas.
At 100k it is a bit of a stretch… however at 60-70k for a base level Suburban with the 3.0 diesel one gets a lot of capability and still decent (if not, pretty exceptional) fuel economy.
This review is like your second choice girl for the senior prom. Most people that have the money for one of these don't care about the gas milage or stereo sound..It's about being seen when their tooling around the burb's....Thanks for nice review Jack....
It would be nice to incorporate the 9 seat version into upper trim levels - what's the point of all this space if it can't be used? The extra seats turn into consoles when not in use.
I honestly hope these manufacturers price themselves out of existence. Then someone will come along and start building, reliable, practical vehicles that people can actually afford.
My last two Yukon Denali's, 2015 & 2019, have been less than quality vehicles. Both had a lot of warrant and non-warranty repairs. 2019 had transmission work and replacement of the differential. While both these vehicles have some great features (towing and cargo space) quality and customer service seems to be lacking at this price point of a vehicle. Mileage on both were 17 city and 22-23 highway with the 6.2L engine. Just from my point of view, this price point I expect quality and customer service which seems to be lacking on both. Hopefully for 2023 GMC/GM has changed direction on quality and customer service.
My mom's last two Yukon's (2008 Denali XL and 2016 Denali) have had their share of quality issues in and out of warranty but the 2016 has been dreadful quite frankly. The 2008 had an issue with the stereo for the first year where the speakers would go between working in the front only then the rear only. A quick software update fix that and the issue never happened again. Otherwise the dashboard cracked like they all do and the passenger rear door lock actuator stopped working 5 years in but it was good otherwise. Plenty of space and power, very comfortable seats and ride, great transmission, decent pricing for the time (It was around $50k new in 2008). The 2016 however has been a nightmare from the first day. Mom instantly complained on the transmission shift quality from the get-go and she mentioned the hard, flat seats and harsh overall ride. The transmission slowly degraded and between software updates and a few flushes it finally ended up getting replaced at 51k miles under GMPP warranty. At the same time all 4 Magneride shocks were frozen and two motor mounts were busted in need of replacement. I forced her to get an extended warranty when she bought it and it paid for itself instantly. The sticker on this one was $76k and it definitely isn't worth the cost.
So you had a bad car.. And you bought another one.. That too with issues. Now you're thinking of buying another one? Are you getting these cars for free.
This type of SUV will always remind me of the tacky “dub crowd” at its peak circa 2006-8. They’re not complete without ripped jeans and an MMA t-shirt worn by a guy who’s never taken a punch in their life and was standing after.
I generally think very few people actually can justify needing these types of vehicles. They are mostly used as suburban commuter vehicles, but at least they are now legitimately nice, comfortable cars instead of the lipstick-on-a-pig, gussied-up plasticky work trucks from the early 2000s era...
People love these too. Would never buy this for 100k especially when they have x7 SQ7 Gls lx600 and range rovers in that price range. 100k Tahoe no way.
Just had a '23 Denali rental and 100% agree on the Bose system. It's truly terrible and the frequency response changes dramatically depending on volume level to an annoying degree.
How are you gonna mention the independent rear suspension and not even mention the fact that the lower control arm hangs about 3 inches from the ground.

I wish the quality had been better as it was a really nice vehicle and I liked most everything about it. But with the amount of repairs needed it would have been too risky to keep.
I haven't heard anything nice said about BOSE in about 30 years.
No highs no lows must be BOSE.
Why do they still exist?!
But can I shift into 2 or more gears simultaneously using my pinky and pointer/middle finger combo?
Could you guys review a Silverado Z-71 with the 6.2 V8 and go in depth in the shop portion? Would love to hear your thoughts on it! From what I hear most people seek this setup with the 10 speed. Great review as usual!
I have been driving one for a few days and not super happy with the creaks and rattles after 18k miles.
No matter the lipstick applied, it’s still a GM product. GM may have a solid V8 but everything else is Great Value quality-wise.
@@l00tur And yet the car is shockingly expensive.
@@Dowlphin I’m sure some of those costs are due to paying folks a good wage to build these road tanks. In reality, that may only contribute to maybe 30% of the cost of the vehicle.
Among the 3 GM SUVs, this is indeed the middle ground and the one I want.
Are the headrests comfortable with the speakers built into them? They look like they’d get in the way.
With gross family income of 85k I still need to consider this because of its great curb appeal and ability to haul my whole family.
For this segment and, its intended purpose, I would argue that body on frame is superior.
Well Done.
I have to agree. There is a good reason that every livery company employees a fleet of these things.
When I hear "body on frame", why do I think of anorexia? 😆
Love the little easter eggs in the video. @3:02 on console screen "hey Google take me to get a vasectomy". I was cracking up.
Does it come with the faulty lifters like all other GM V8s? If so then I'm sold.
This kind of money used to buy you a house. Or two.
Not to be confused with the current US model Youcon Denial Ultimate.
Anyone ever met a diehard GMC fan? Ie "I'll only buy GMC they're the best". My friends and I could only think of a single weird uncle
@@ryannatividad3137 I think that cache existed circa 2005 when the Sopranos was still running 😂 or maybe it's just in Detroit now
To my eye and taste, looks much better than the chevy or the caddy. I do miss Mark's smug dour looks as you take off on the drive though.
I just wish the hood wasn't so damn high
You don’t get the reality of the size of this thing without Mark standing next to it.
Jack being on the talk side makes this brick seem somewhat moderate, size wise.
We need our star manlet to really invoke the feeling of massive when reviewing SUVs & Trucks.
When the audio is tuned with no highs and bumpy bass, the effort was clearly made to calibrate the features to its intended audience. This was made to scare old people in their 20-year-old Camry and Avalon retirement vehicles, and to know it's proper place and to bow in the presence of an Escalade.
Thanks, Jack! I was taking a sip of coffee when the "professional breeder" comment was let loose!
Enjoying the extra memes here. Keep them coming!
100% agree would like to see more memes in the future videos
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!
Great review of the most relevent points as always!
This review is like your second choice girl for the senior prom. Most people that have the money for one of these don't care about the gas milage or stereo sound..It's about being seen when their tooling around the burb's....Thanks for nice review Jack....
Rich Mormons are going to love this thing.
Great job Jack, nice review.
It would be nice to incorporate the 9 seat version into upper trim levels - what's the point of all this space if it can't be used? The extra seats turn into consoles when not in use.
Have you guys gotten your hands on the 3.0 duramax yet? I don't think I've seen you drive one
Great review, gents.
Lincoln Navigator Reserve still competitive in this group?
I love the Google typed message at the 3 minutes mark. Classic...
@@Bren39 I have driven GM/GMC suv's for 30 years, I will be looking at other brands for sure!
@@Allegan49010 For the love of god just don't buy a Ford Explorer when you go looking. Absolute piles. And I'm a Ford guy btw.
This crowd is still around....it's just evolved into something a whole hell of a lot stupider
Yes... the review would have more legitimacy if Jack was wearing a T shirt with a wolf's head on it instead
Can you recommend a vehicle that is even larger, decadent and more expensive, thanks!
O M G, i need that class leading powered center console in my life!!!!
GM is crazy with that price.
Where do I sign up with SPFPS, LLC?
As Mr. Regular put said it "No highs, no lows, it's got to be Bose"
Have you guys reviewed the 3 liter duramax?
This review is the definition of informative irreverence.😆 Awesome job Jack!
The woman gazing up, synchronized with the voice over saying "extra inches", made me laugh out loud 😀
People love these too. Would never buy this for 100k especially when they have x7 SQ7 Gls lx600 and range rovers in that price range. 100k Tahoe no way.
“If you want to drive like a professional grade a$$hole.” The GMC Yukon
Love the editing on this
Great review on a great vehicle
What about the engine lifter failure defect? And, the bent pushrod issue?
Dont worry about it, that only happens when you drive one.
@@savagegeese lol
Just had a '23 Denali rental and 100% agree on the Bose system. It's truly terrible and the frequency response changes dramatically depending on volume level to an annoying degree.
The thing is, though, I really like this one. ❤️ Money aside, this truck looks great. #sorry #smoothsailing
"Professional Grade Disappointment" 😝
No highs, all lows, that's-a Bose!
First time hearing hate on the ZF8 transmission. Hmmm...
"Hey Google, take me to get a..." LOL
+1 Michael McDonald mention.
Sarcasm off the charts, good!
How are you gonna mention the independent rear suspension and not even mention the fact that the lower control arm hangs about 3 inches from the ground.
I could care less about this vehicle but it’s savagegeese. There’s always entertainment 😁
