Jeran is going on The Final Experiment, and Level Earth Observer is not very happy with some of his recent comments. It's all going off in the flat Earth community.

I don’t think it has anything to do with money, they have a few hundred viewers. I think they are scared of loosing their audience through money or not people listen to him and they are so scared of becoming irrelevant and humiliated that they cope as hard and as often as they can to stop the illusion being shattered. It is sad really that they dedicated a significant portion of their lives on a medieval theory. Because they so badly want to believe they are free from propaganda only to ironically eat the propaganda of the Flat pack community

LEO's first 4 points against Jaren:
    1. His own community doesn't trust him.
    2. How can he be trusted when his own community doesn't trust him
    3. He can't be trusted. Even his own community has lost faith in him.

The problem with Flat Earthers is that they don't understand how models and experiments relate to reality.
The fact is that this experiment shouldn't be necessary. The fact stars rotate clockwise / counterclockwise depending on the hemisphere is all you need. But Flat Earthers aren't able to connect that observation with what it entails.
And observe how the criticisms revolve about if they trust or don't trust someone. And the 'demonstable reality' rejects experiments as a concept. 'Demonstrable reality' means putting a giant spirit level on the earth and eyeballing the bubble. Indirect measurements are just fantasy to him. If you asked him to calculate the speed of a car knowing the distance and time of its travel, he would say that's impossible: eyeballing the speedometer is the only thing he thinks is reality.

    • @PeerAdder
      @PeerAdder 26 дней назад +13

Not quite. LEO is a crane operator. Every morning when he gets to work he sees the lifting cable hanging stationary below his crane. "But that's impossible on a rotating globe" he cries, therefore not a rotating globe. He thinks he's done science. He thinks he's taken a physical model (a rotating globe), made a prediction (it would be impossible for the lifting cable to hang stationary and _vertical_ under the crane when it is at rest), and made an observation (look, it is hanging stationary and vertical) which falsifies the model.
All of this would be good except for one small problem. Well, not small really, an enormous elephant sized one, and not one but two.
Firstly, he doesn't understand forces and rotational motion, so doesn't know that it is perfectly possible for the hanging cable to remain stationary.
Secondly, his observation is wrong. He has eye-balled the cable and concluded that because it looks vertical then it is vertical. This is exactly equivalent to "it looks flat so it is flat". But it isn't. Plumb lines are deflected by the coriolis force due to the earth's rotation. For a cable of length 100 meters, at 32 degrees latitude, the displacement is about 1.9 cm. It is always to the east.
On the earth, the direction that we call vertical is normally defined locally as the direction that a plumb bob hangs. (A plumb bob is simply a mass hanging from the end of a string, often used in construction to set walls vertically.) It is safe to assume that (neglecting hills, bumps, and such) the local patch of ground (or water) lies perpendicular to vertical, so that on average, the shape of the earth can be related to the verticals at different locations around the globe. Due to the rotation of the earth, local vertical doesn't point back directly to the centre of the earth. It will at the equator and the poles, but at other locations, it points slightly away from the centre. This deflection can be measured. It is so well known that it has been used in the past to measure the shape of the earth.
So LEO's entire demonstrable reality is based on two fundamental errors.
      But it gets worse.
If the earth isn't a rotating globe then what is it? A stationary globe? No, because stellar parallax, the phases of Venus, and the retrograde motion of the outer planets all confirm that we are orbiting the sun. But if we are orbiting the sun without rotating what causes day and night? Not possible.
So what about a stationary flat earth with a local sun and moon circling above it? For a finite, circularly symmetric distribution of mass, the centre of gravity would be on the axis of symmetry somewhere below the surface. So now the direction "vertical" would lean progressively outwards as we move further and further away from this axis. Since most flat earthers put the north pole at the centre of their disc, this would mean vertical leans over the further south you went, and for a relatively thin earth by the time you reached Antarctica vertical would be almost horizontal. Not remotely what happens.
So not only has LEO reached a false conclusion about the possibility of a rotating globe earth, he has also successfully highlighted why a flat one is impossible.

The molecular structure of something may have emergent properties when there is a lot of it around. "Wetness" is an emergent property of water, not derived from looking at its chemical (I guess that's what molecular means) structure. I don't understand anything any flat earther believes, but things like this really are confounding. If you pull a water molecule from the bottom of the Marianas trench and a molecule from the surface, they are indistinguishable. Not even mentioning that simply descending in water and seeing the pressure increase as you descend kind of demonstrates gravity, doesn't it? And there is no container so that means the pressure at the surface should be the same at the bottom of the trench if it's all buoyancy right? Nevermind. I don't want to hear the garbledy-gook that the flat earthers will try to spin me.

When flerfers claim you can’t have air pressure next to a vacuum without solid separation, have they never thought about the air pressure gradient we already know about? It doesn’t take solid separation when you have a gravity well.
Denver, at one mile altitude, has air pressure about 2psi lower than the 14.7psi New York enjoys at sea level.
When you fly somewhere, your bag of crisps is plumper and harder in flight than at ground level because the cabin’s pressure is around 10psi, equivalent of about 10,000 feet. I have, for fun, taken an empty plastic bottle aboard: it hissed when I opened it at altitude, and was crushed during descent. my ears complain on both the way up and down, and I feel for the baby on some flights whose ears are hurting and they don’t know why or what to do about it.
At 5psi, few people can reach the 29,031-foot summit of Everest without oxygen, and at the 39,000-foot cruising level of that aircraft I mentioned earlier, the outside pressure was under 3psi.
Crews on unpressurised high altitude aircraft require pressure suits. Small wonder. The official highest air-breathing non-rocket-powered flight is 123,523 feet (MiG-266M in 1977) at which the air pressure would have dropped to around 0.06psi.
This pressure gradient is why no matter how good your aircraft or balloon, they don’t keep climbing forever - they don’t hit the firmament, they just run out of enough air for lift.
The reported ISS altitude at this very moment is 257 miles - rather higher than thought - I recall it being around 220 miles but I know it varies, eg to avoid drag from atmospheric expansion due to heating - so the ISS is “flying” 11 times higher than the MiG-266M at which air pressure had fallen from 14.7psi to 0.06psi.

It's interesting that in this video LEO makes NO claims whatsoever. At no point does he say what he believes, except the moment when he denies that he is a Flat Earther, which he has done before. And yet he keeps saying that it is obvious to everyone. So he can't be tied down to any model, meaning he can deny everything later. Almost clever. But definitely the methodology of a cult.

Huh? What map are you looking at. On the flerf map you basically go straight north to alaska then continue over the edge of the arctic circle and go due south back to japan. On the real great circle flight on the globe you do not go that far north probably up to around the 50 degree latitude. Need to get her to Aukland and then fly to Santiago. Flight is only $1100 if you can get to aukland. But on flerf map you fly near hawaii and mexico. The actual great circle flight is closer to the antarctic circle. Of course ask any flerf and that flight does not exist. Qantas must just list it for no reason.

the best you ever get is they are making us believe in some giant lie, and everything we think is true isnt. which is fine, but there is still nothing to be gained from that. maybe a small ego boost, knowing you can manipulate the masses. but thats hardly worth what it would cost financially to keep this charade up and running.
