Range Rover sees the Velar as the "Avant-garde" vehicle. It looks awesome. I see this Velar as the Range Rover in which the high end customer believes that the Evoque is too small and the Sport is too big.
If Tesla looked this good I would actually be a fan... Instead their products look like those anonymous placeholders architects scatter around their 3d-models.
Hey Steve. Great Review.
I share other commenters concern re dependability and your annoyance with electronics, but find that the tone of your review really captures life with this car: It's finicky, and will occasionally drive you nuts, but every jaunt in it (and just looking at it) is such an occasion, that you may be unable to hold a grudge for long.
You look like you had fun with that sucker for sure!
The car is perfect, simple amazing but you people always have a lot to complain about in a car, so just build yours and put everything that you will want to use in your own car. . . Simple!!💔
If only Land Rover can provide a smooth velvety ride and make their infotainment system and on board faster and more reliable, they truly have a winner in their hands.
Agree. The thing about infotainment systems are this - we want it to be simple to use so that we can focus on driving. It seems like this laggy system that Land Rover (as well as Jaguar) is more focused on the razzmatazz rather than ease of use. It seems like the luxury car companies have not caught on unless they’re brand loyalist. BMW and Audi have figured it out, even the fact that Audi doesn’t utilize a touch screen. Lexus and Mercedes have maddening systems. And Steve said about the maddening systems - the gold standard on how to make an infotainment system is Hyundai-Kia. Others prefer FCA’s UConnect. And the mainstream models have simple controls.
Interesting:I’ve just had one for a couple of days as a loan car and didn’t have a problem with the system at all. It took me moments to set up, including phone connectivity, so I wonder what he was trying to do with it. If there is a problem it is that because there are no buttons it takes a while to intuitively find the functions but by the time I handed it back it wasn’t really a problem.
True, I would have the ability to master this infotainment system because I am tech savvy myself. However, what about those who aren't as savvy? This could be a a deal breaker for some.
Probably the best review I’ve watched.
Thanks, David!
This was a great review
Thanks!
I just picked up mine on Friday and absolutely love it ( 2019 P380 HSE R Dynamic)
Hi manny. R u recommend this model if i want to buy a new SUV by 2020?
Looks awesome. However the touchscreen reliability is something that we'll have to see in the future.
Vou comprar a minha velar black agora em março.quero uma sujestao onde compro mais no jeito
Damn Steve, I may need to take down my Farrah Fawcett poster and replace it with a Velar poster. This is arguably a better looking vehicle than the Plymouth Volare, however this is a topic I will save for another day and another beer.
Namaste
I like SUVs, having driven trucks (K-blazers and Yukons) since 1981. I've been targeting an aspirational SUV that I'll enjoy driving next. I like the Velar and F-Pace, but would prefer the RR Sport for the better offroad chops.
Play any Golden Axe lately?
the colour its amazing...damnnn dope car though
Nice
The sexiest car of the year
Elijah van der Laan Agreed!! I own one and love the looks I get when driving it.
Gorgeous but electronics is something to worry about like in any other Range Rover model
I just picked mine up last week so a little behind but I’m siked. I have the Se model
Any issues on it so far? I’m looking into getting one any mechanical or electrical complaints?
@@juanmiguelmendez8536 actually yes a lot of mechanical issues that I'm told an update would fix and it did but it takes range rover 1 week to fix. It has happened e times so far where the inside panels go dark and you camt reader see anything. Once you turn the car off and back on it clears but definatly not a good look for the velar.
👍keren
Nice Car.
it does have 2 usb ports at the back
Although I like the “Velar” brand - Too many options to buy to get to the great bells and whistles....any car selling at $50k should have many things standard, i.e., rear USB ports etc.
It does have it he just not see it comes as a standard feature it located behind the arm rest for rear passengers in that middle seat
The issue for Land Rover is repair record and dependability. Land Rover with Fiat are at the bottom of the reliability list. I checked this one iout and really wanted to buy it but that reliability record along with electronic and quality issues kept me away.
I have just bought the Velar 3 weeks ago. I absolutely love it. I had a 2010 Sport HSE and also a 2013 Evogue. I traded the evogue I for the Velar. 85,000 miles on the Evogue and zero problems. Yes Land Rovers have had some problems in the past . I Honestly feel like the newer cars are much much more reliable. IMHO .
Yeah once Tata took over from Ford reliability went up a ton
Auto express 2018 have moved landrover jaguar to 7th place , Lexus 1st and Alfa 2nd... the Germans aren’t even in the top ten but people will still rave on about how reliable Germans car are and how unreliable JLR are.
Usually by people that have never own one.
My wife’s Mercedes’s glc spent 3 months in the garage in its first year with head gasket problems .
My neighbours 8 year old discovery has never had an issue . Just goes to show !
@@anthonyhull1274 Well I own a 2018 BMW X6. That's about as German as you can get. I have not had any issues other than young meatheads wanting to drag race me at every stoplight. hahaha
Great car just over priced.. great review!
Is Upcoming Mercedes GLS 2020 is better than RangeRover Velar ??
Aqui esta por 490$ muito caro mas ja decidi
I still like Range Rover sport
I have not made up my mind about the SUV. I still see a bit of a Ford Explorer in it. I want to like it very much but the jury is still out of me. Also, living in a state where there is ice and now I worry about the door handles being frozen shut. I've heard of instances. But we shall see for ourselves shan't we? hahahahaha
if you don't mind going to the repair car shop every one month or two then get the land rover
"No V8, except for the Sport".....and the upcoming Velar SVR, Steve.
Iceberg Dawkins All in due time.
V8 now available
Man that’s a sexy S.U.V. But the reliability is going to kill it.
What color is this?
lupinearsenalALT think he said byron blue
I said it before and ill say it again if I was going to spend 90k I would never get this over the range rover sport, it would make no sense
That's a electric bomb waiting to happen it looks good though
He's scuffed the front wing.
The V4 is underpowered and the V6 is $10K more. Expensive.
Audi Q7 or RR Velar??
asim jamenis Velar 😍
I just drove both. RR
Go with Audi for reliability. Go with Velar for looks and offroad chops (relatively speaking).
The Audi always leaves me cold, but I respect the design and internal guts.
Just bought velar
This car is a lil too sexy to point where I sometimes hate looking at it lmfao
explorer platinum does it better for half the price with better reliability
It is neatly unreliable too. They never learn.
no cap, the Urus is just a faster Audi Q8. much rather have the Velar. tho' that V6 380 horses isn't enough power..I feel all new models are built for soccer moms who don't care to drive fast.
its very nice looking SUV for sure .. but Unfortunately very it's expensive and very unreliable and it does can't wait to lose its value very quickly not. to mention the very expensive maintenance . and please i don't want to hear wealthy people who got a lot of money they don't care about all that ..because they do care as soon the manufacturer warranty runs out they are selling it . and it will be resold to some other poor dreamer only to get stuck with the unreliable nice looking Range Rover !!! :-D
I really hate that glossy black interior color looks cheap
Actually it is quite nice as I optioned this feature called Grand Black Veneer (Just like a Grand Piano finish) affording a very nice ambience to the SUV given mine is Fuji White with Black Exterior Pack adding to the stylish suaveness with Diamond Turned wheels as well.
JLR reliability and quality are horrendous. Owning one and suffering.
