Sam you should get one. It looks great in that color. Its not too big, easy to park in UK parking spaces, tonnes of room, seats your mates and guests! Do it, perfect daily driver!
Sold! Get it bought. The polar oposite of a manual 360. Perfect. A daily doesn't need to be sporty. It should really be anything but so that your 'weekend' toy shines brighter....and lets not forget you drive a shed load of special stuf that isn't yours... so a bit of high riding, tech festy, graceful, comfort is JUST what the doc orders...
I AM going to give you a huge 'leg up' on this vehicle. I test drove this today as I am looking to replace my 2006 XJR which has been magnificent but sadly deemed a total loss as it was hit in front of my house in October 2017. As far as the XJRJag went (and I think you are interested) it was my most lustful drive, not without shortcomings. It got looks and compliments almost every day through my ownership. It was NOT the best drive in western Canada in the winter...even with winter tyres! Still---used it, loved it! I get where you are coming from... you have some sort of emotional attachment to the dealership because of your parent's loyalty to the dealership and brand. From where I stand, the Velar was BEAUTIFUL. Loved the tech!!! The drive and engine was not to my expectation in terms of power/impressiveness. 6 cylinder/ supercharged... it is WAY less than 8 cylinders/supercharged of the XJR. In Canada, the Velar will stand out. The tech is amazing! Would I be bored with it in 2 or 3 years? yes. The tech is changing as we speak--- the only thing left is the performance--- boring. Here is the deal: it is expensive! In Canada at this price point, we have lots of competition. Range Rover is is all about exclusivity. It is not about performance with the Velar. So--- this is the part I am gifting to you, my friend. Given your apparent age and the climate you live in (assuming 'snow' is not your average climatic condition), you are going to love and appreciate the Jaguar F type way more than the Velar. It will thrill you every drive long after the tech of the Velar has worn thin. I loved the the Velar. BUT... at over $100,000 Canadian, maybe not. Anyway- those are my thoughts. Victor
I just bought my 2020 R dynamic V6 Range Rover Velar I love it! It is just freakin gorgeous and drives so smooth! Love your videos! That Velar is of course gorgeous!
The good thing about buying a Velar is that contrasts nicely with the 360. One is a comfortable, stylish and luxurious daily and the other a supercar for those precious moments to trash it. As for covering all purposes, spot on I'd say.

Volvos have good seats and are safe but thats all...U can feel they are really not that premium and doesn't ride that well compared to some other stuff..
I'm not a fan of the air but seems to be like the world over. BUT, look at how many times Volvo vs. Range Rover gets into a workshop with expensive repair costs. So in Sweden, state-owned independent organizations are called: Motor men. So, Range Rover's all models are highly overrepresented. Furthermore, we have Swedish car tests that ensure road safety is safe. Even there, Range Rover is the one who is most wrong with the car after just two years (when a car turns 2 years old, they will be inspected). I like Self Range Rover, but one can not ignore the facts.

So I have this car, very similar spec...p380r-dynamic. Had it for about a year now. And so far...I love it. It’s a beast in the snow. It’s not really that sporty, but imo it’s quick enough for an SUV, so you can still kinda push it on the highway and stuff. The cabins especially a nice place to be in, this thing has massaging seats which all my friends seem to love. Feels and looks super futureistic, different from a lot of cars out there. If you buy this out I’m sure you can get a tune and work on the exhaust. I feel like they could have done better with the exhaust note. Not since it is a JLR I bet people are wondering about what maintenance is like. In my year of owning it, I just had one thing go wrong. Once of the covers for the door handles fell off. The handle still functioned but just the cover fell off. But I got it replaced under warranty. Haven’t noticed any glitches on the infotainment system, was actually expecting it to glitch out on me but so far nothing has happened. I just put it in for the 10k miles service which was 700 dollars. They change the filters, oil, update the infotainment system, tire rotation and a couple other things. Other than that I have not had any problems with it. If you truly looking for a daily, especially a 4x4 then this is the way to go. If you really want the drive to be more fun, check out something else. However, I feel like the velar is a good package since the styling, tech, and drive is good. Other cars may be faster but you also have to factor in the other components
The E60 M5 is a horrendous daily. Horrendous fuel economy and a maintenance nightmare. If Sam thinks a Ferrari 360 is going to be a money pit, an E60 M5 will be a money crater.
Got mine last week, the perfect SUV. It's worth every penny, I got the mid level but something like this will hold it's value and has not disappointed.
Suvs have progressed so far from looks to performance. I don't see how owning a Ferrari 360 and maybe this saves you money so you can buy a property that was the point originally

Coleen Rooney, Posh Spice & Every country mother would approve. For someone who lives in London, is a massive car like this really necessary? No doubt the pinnacle of comfort and tech, but I reckon a perfect medium between sportiness/comfort can be found elsewhere!
I have the velar p380 se r dynamic and I love it... such a smooth and comfortable ride. My car was one of the first five delivered in British Columbia, Canada. People were offering 10 grand for our spot on the waitlist (currently a 6-7 month wait)
Sam,I know you're a car guy and you appreciate sport cars but this velar is more loaded and comfortable and usable than the ttrs or cayman. I think you'd appreciate a more realxing and luxurious car. You're doing great,keep on going with the great job!
I'm not sure of actual policies in that regard but I don't think many manufacturers officially will sell newer model cars without an engine to individual customers however there is a guy I know around here I've done work for in the past who's a huge gearhead that has managed to get 3 newer model vehicles without engines by contacting the manufacturers directly and talking to the right people - he had custom built engines he wanted to toss in them. Those were not "high-end" cars though, if I remember correctly it was 2 Fords and a Chevy and they cost almost the same as with having engines because the companies added "special order" fees to the price(but the labor savings of not having to remove the engines made up for the $$). It wouldn't hurt to give them a call and ask them about it though, the worst thing they could do is say no. If you were a company that was looking to buy a large number of vehicles to customize as a 'special edition' type deal then I'm sure the manufacturers would be happy to do business but for individual sales I have no idea what their policies are.

Drive it on a sunny day, and see what you think of the touch screens. My friend has just bought one and the reflections on the screens and piano black surfaces drive her bonkers. Makes it very hard to use, especially in bright sunlight. Otherwise, it's a very nice car. 2.0 engine bit under powered though apparently.
My dad’s just bought one of these in the same spec, drove it a couple of days ago. Yes the interior is lovely, drives nice and it’s very comfortable. I don’t like the touch screens for usability, you have to take your eyes off the road for a long time to perform even a simple function. With buttons, knobs or switches you can do what you need to without really looking. There’s no denying it looks good, but I think the big petrol makes no sense because it’s not that quick and it’s thirsty. Also, £80k? How can it be so expensive? It’s a soft roader! I think it’s another example of the SUV marketing machine convincing people they need a car like this. My vote goes for the Golf R. Does everything and won’t go wrong like this will.
Thing is Sam if you get a used velar keep it a year or less the only cost you will have is the depreciation so if u buy low an sell high then the actual cost of owning 1 of these beautiful machines will be rather small.

As good as some of the other cars are going to be, it needs to be remembered that this is a daily, so needs to cover more bases than just fun to drive. I actually think this will be a top car to own as a daily, it will make the Ferrari feel even more special when ever you drive it.
You loved taking the 695 on track & that opportunity would go with a 4x4. I think you need a smaller, more fun, cheaper little hot hatch. The 360 is inevitably going to have ongoing costs so you’ll need the extra wedge
But you don't need a sporty daily, that's why you've got the other cars in your garage. I personally love this car, and would love to see more videos of it

How much would this spec of the velar cost? Is it possible to get this spec without the engine?

I'm not sure of actual policies in that regard but I don't think many manufacturers officially will sell newer model cars without an engine to individual customers however there is a guy I know around here I've done work for in the past who's a huge gearhead that has managed to get 3 newer model vehicles without engines by contacting the manufacturers directly and talking to the right people - he had custom built engines he wanted to toss in them.
Those were not "high-end" cars though, if I remember correctly it was 2 Fords and a Chevy and they cost almost the same as with having engines because the companies added "special order" fees to the price(but the labor savings of not having to remove the engines made up for the $$). It wouldn't hurt to give them a call and ask them about it though, the worst thing they could do is say no.
If you were a company that was looking to buy a large number of vehicles to customize as a 'special edition' type deal then I'm sure the manufacturers would be happy to do business but for individual sales I have no idea what their policies are.

Drive it on a sunny day, and see what you think of the touch screens. My friend has just bought one and the reflections on the screens and piano black surfaces drive her bonkers. Makes it very hard to use, especially in bright sunlight. Otherwise, it's a very nice car. 2.0 engine bit under powered though apparently.

My dad’s just bought one of these in the same spec, drove it a couple of days ago. Yes the interior is lovely, drives nice and it’s very comfortable. I don’t like the touch screens for usability, you have to take your eyes off the road for a long time to perform even a simple function. With buttons, knobs or switches you can do what you need to without really looking. There’s no denying it looks good, but I think the big petrol makes no sense because it’s not that quick and it’s thirsty. Also, £80k? How can it be so expensive? It’s a soft roader! I think it’s another example of the SUV marketing machine convincing people they need a car like this. My vote goes for the Golf R. Does everything and won’t go wrong like this will.

Thing is Sam if you get a used velar keep it a year or less the only cost you will have is the depreciation so if u buy low an sell high then the actual cost of owning 1 of these beautiful machines will be rather small.

As good as some of the other cars are going to be, it needs to be remembered that this is a daily, so needs to cover more bases than just fun to drive. I actually think this will be a top car to own as a daily, it will make the Ferrari feel even more special when ever you drive it.

You loved taking the 695 on track & that opportunity would go with a 4x4. I think you need a smaller, more fun, cheaper little hot hatch. The 360 is inevitably going to have ongoing costs so you’ll need the extra wedge
