Social activist Tipper Gore, wife of former VP Al Gore, created a committee that sought to put label warnings on covers and soon after the Senate had hearings and Tipper gave testimony. I thought it was pretty funny that one little Prince song caused such a stir. What started it all was Tipper's 11yr old daughter at the time, asked her mother "Mom, what's masturbating?" @celineophile I was a big MJ fan in the 80's until July 1984 and I heard the song When Doves Cry on the Radio. Went to watch the Movie Purple Rain and was hooked from that point onward. MJ definitely sold more albums and was more popular worldwide, but Prince did do one thing in the summer of 84 that MJ never did, and that is to have the Number 1 Album Purple Rain, the number 1 Song When Doves Cry and the number 1 Movie Purple Rain all at the same time. The only other artists to accomplished this was the Beatles and Elvis. If you want to immerse yourself in Prince I recommend watching the Movie if you haven't already done so and maybe do a reaction video to it.

Full respect to MJ, but they should not be compared. They are completely different, and it causes injustice to Prince. One was a great singer and dancer, the other was that too but also the greatest artist of the 20th century.
I was fortunate to grow up with Prince, miss him terribly! Very talented man, my one of my favorites is "The Cross". U have to do it live in Dortmund...sooo good! And he's so gorgeous!! Give it a go on your journey down the rabbit hole 💜

We knew he was special in '79 and with every album that came out after that. I had them all on vinyl up up to Purple Rain, then went to tapes. Saw the Purple Rain tour twice!!! Yes, we were all screaming & asking, 'What is happening to me?" 🤣 Girl next to me at one of the concerts was crying so hard she could hardly breath, lol. Love to see the younger generation keeping the love for Prince alive!

New sub! Huge Prince fan/fam from way back. Happily saw him 5 times. It's funny when you spot another Prince fan. For example, I visited a client today, and in the neighborhood was a house painted purple, and the mail box was painted like his cloud suit in this video. I had to stop and tell the owners how cool their "Prince house" was. They seemed pleased someone noticed.
