Ugly Stik GX2 Medium 2-piece 6-15lb line weight.
Finally got a Tarpon to test the Ugly Stik GX2. Once again the GX2 held it's own and controlled that Tarpon well. Pretty much worked flawless. Very pleased with my $30 combo. Next up full size Amberjack (Reef Donkey).

I had never watched your videos before but I'm running this EXACT same set up. Crazy coincidence! Penn Conflict 6000, GX2 6'6" medium rod, 65lb power pro braid.
I have been fishing most of my life. Now at 57, I am learning how to fish. There is so much information overload with what not to do and what to do. All the info always stating...'Don't put that reel on this rod, don't put this line on that reel, don't use this rod with that line.' What I like about this video, other than that massive beast you caught, it tells me to try stuff out. See what works for me. Yesterday, I ordered two GX2 6'6" (one was a combo...pfft $9 extra with a reel, might be shit but hey) and a 7'. Looking forward to trying them out. All the best.

I have a GX2 6'6 for 3 years now. Its a very tough rod. The only issue I have so far is that braid have cut small grooves on the guides especially the tip.
I love my GX-2 more than my $700.00 rods. That rod does the dirty work!

Ugly Stik just needs to make the guides ACTUALLY braid compatible instead of just saying it. They need to Put on the aluminum oxide or titanium oxide guide inserts and build them well, strong, and durable.
Them “saying the guides are braid compatible” doesn’t mean they really are. Science and long term Testing will prove that.
The old ones were built better. The old ones have the braid compatible aluminum oxide fuji guide inserts to stop braid line from cutting into the guides. Ugly Stik needs to go back to them now.
I Love my NEW model Ugly Stik GX2 and BIG WATER rods. But on the newer models the guides suck.
Ugly Stik needs to put the aluminum oxide or titanium oxide fuji guides back on so the braid line doesn’t cut into it.

Can I get suggestion on rod from Ugly Stik to use it for Amber Jack / Baracuda / Bluefish fishing… ? My problem is law in my country that I need to pay extra day license for rod rating above 30lbs for the line … So I need a good quality rod for good price like rods from Ugly Stik

My brother bought one recently, tightened down the reel lock nut, cracked returned. Breakable. They should make that ring of aluminum. Not plastic. I won't buy one now.
