    It's amazing that they can remember every feeding source during migration year after year. So cute how that one hummingbird was sitting on the feeder while you were moving it, my hummingbirds would never do that. 😁

    My girlfriend has NEVER seen a hummingbird in person before yet its her favorite bird.
    I plan on setting up a humming bird feeder to surprise her with. I dont see humming birds often in my area in general so i think it will take some time. Thanks for this video i hope it helps.

      I have one last year and I was sad. But I tried this year and I have 3. So you need the nectar and it might take more that we want. But did use the nectar with 1 cup water, 1/4 cup white sugar AND I use 2 level maple syrup this year and they love them! Boil or not but mixed.

      Did it ever work out? I had some great hummingbirds all summer, but now that it’s fall, the wasps have found the feeders. Luckily, I had a lot of zinnias grow in that they just overtook my garden. So, the hummingbirds still have a food source.

    We have been watching from Columbus Ohio for some time now !! How we love to watch the Hummingbirds It's so relaxing, Thank you so much for sharing them. We have 2 feeders, one for having ready to set out when we clean the other, one, we only want one feeder because we have cats and this feeder is up high away from them. the feeder is hooked high on the corner of our garage.
    We can see them from the kitchen window and back bedroom window. Love these little creatures !!! our inside cat Aloha sometimes watches your Hummers too.

      Hi SPACE IS HARD! They are here! I guess patience is the key. I moved into an apartment with an outdoor balcony in last year in February. It faces large field surrounded by woods. The last week of April..I had humming birds flying right up to patio door! I had no feeders for I've never seen them on the South Shore of MA either. When I lived in AZ they were so common! Anyways..I immediately got a feeder..and I enjoyed my humming bird ( he's a bully chased all others away) untill end of Sept. This year around the same time in April..who comes knocking? Mr. Humming ! Put 2 feeders up..but he still bully's! The people who lived here before me probably fed them. Also they LOVE hanging baskets of Freesia.. I hang part shade/sun. Gosh, I wrote a book! Good luck! It is such a undescribable feeling when you meet YOUR first Humming bird.

    Just hung my first feeder a week ago (no visitors yet) and using the store bought bottle of red nectar. Is it better to make your own mix or will the red nectar do the job? I prob need to find a more visible spot too as it is hanging about a foot below the lowest branch on my backyard tree.

    Does it matter how high the feeder is from the ground ? Better to be higher ?

    • @HummingbirdSpot
      @HummingbirdSpot  Год назад +2

      I can't imagine it matters, but the lower to the ground, the easier it is for squirrels to jump on it. Once they discover sugar, they will be at it all the time.

    Question for you we had hummingbirds all last yr and they came back for like a week or two and haven't been back since is there a reason why we haven't switched up anything is there something we can do to get them back ? Thanks

    • @HummingbirdSpot
      @HummingbirdSpot  2 года назад +2

      The hummingbirds that were there a week or two ago might have stopped off at your place before getting to their final destination. I'm not sure where you are, but it seems that birds are getting further north earlier this year for some reason. Not sure why yours aren't there. Just keep doing what you are doing.

    My biggest problem with attracting hummers to my backyard feeder is the 30ft bottlebrush tree just 10 feet away. My birds like the real thing I guess?

    • @HummingbirdSpot
      @HummingbirdSpot  4 года назад +2

      They love bottlebrush! Hang the feeder as far away from the plant as you can and see if someone claims it. If not, you have the best scenario. Lots of hummers and no food to make or feeders to clean!
