Rest In Peace, Philippe. (As he predicted more or less in this movie: doctors and medicin will manage to keep me going until I'm 70... he died earlier this month, aged 72.)
I'm french and I saw a report on TV about Philippe. He mentionned that he met Abdel like in the movie and the scene where he plays with hot water was true too 😂 I also read on Internet that Abdel participated to a season of the french TV reality show " Secret Story ", a tv show where the candidates come with a secret and have to guess the others'
This film really is categorized as comedy, not as drama. But that is the beautiful thing about french comedies, they aren't just "clownish" comedy, they are always full of heart. :) (At least the few that I know of, I also really recommend "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis")
As a Frenchman (maybe you are, too), I can garantee that some of them are just clownish and lack depth. But it's definitely not the case with this movie.
As french, french comedy sucks since 15 years. I miss the old time. Not a comedy but you can watch "Les choristes" and "Mr Batignole" and the best of the best "Amelie Poulain"
Not all over the world, I guess. And... even the Americans did a remake (ain't that a reward? 😉). But it's true that English has become the first language worldwide. And people seem to dislike subtitles. Thank heavens I got used to it since childhood. Made my life a better one!
@@BCTMarcusthe american remake is literally horrible, the french one portrays french culture way more accurately and its one of the reasons its so great, the humour and other is just not as great in the american one, i just think it's lacking greatly. The english subtitles themselves even in the original don't really capture certain interactions just as good either.
because of this masterpiece i fell in love with classical music, especially with Ludovico Einaudi's music. so beautiful and inspiring. Una Mattina Song in this movie will forever be my favourite song.
Thanks very much for reacting to this great European movie. I'm also pleased that you mentioned the beautiful music by Einaudi in this movie. All the best from the Netherlands!
The music is composed by Ludovico Einaudi. If you want to play some of his works, I recommend "Una Mattina" and "Primavera". These pieces are very accessible and their simplicity permit to put all efforts on interpretation. By the way : when the movie "Intouchables" came out in 20...11(??), every pianist got their hands on the piano sheets. The same happened in 20 ... 04(??) for "Amélie" with Yann Tiersen's scores. PS : "The Upside", the US remake of "Intouchables" seems to be sh*tty.
Im sure you probably already googled the Pianist of the soundtrack since you play piano, but if not, his name is Ludovico Einaudi. The main song from this movie being "Fly". Some other favorites of mine from him are "I Giorni" and "Experience". Absolutely beautiful pieces of music
Thank you so much, #Olavity, for uploading this awesome movie reaction. I love your content so much because it's so amazing, and I really enjoy watching your reactions to different TV shows and movies.
The soundtrack was nominated for a César (french equivalent of the Oscars). You'll probably be happy to know that the real Philippe lived a very long life : he died at 72 last year
@@ROBOTRIX_eu I'm french and this movie did a lot of talking after it came out. On the TV news, they talked about a special seance with only paraplegic people for seeing it. You'll be happy to know that Philippe lived very well : he passed away last June at 72
*Amelie From Montmartre* ? WTF! Lol. Is it the English title? *"Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain"* (The fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain) is the French original title.
Perhaps you're watching the wrong Untouchables movie? Usually this title refers to the 1987 movie starring Kevin Costner, Sean Connery and Robert DiNero

I was taken to this movie without knowing what it was. I reckon it was the best movie I saw that year, easily. So much heart to it.
Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, the man who inspired Phillipe in the movie, just died a few dans ago.
Glad ypu could see some french movie

My favorite of this composer is "Divenire" but it isn't featured in the movie.
One of the best reaction.
Short but extremely good and emotional
This is one of the best movie soundtracks i heard

Thanks to react to the ORIGINAL French movie . You have good taste ^^
Good chooice of movie. I recommend to try also "Angel's Share" from about that time period.
Whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH the American remake with Kevin Hart. They ruined it.
You cut the best parts of the film but still one of the greatest movies of all time...
There's an american adaptation with fine actors but the movie itself is underwhelming compared to the original.
