This movie is SO well written, it still amazes me, over 25 years later that Matt & Ben wrote this at such a young age. It's one of my favorite movies, the characters are so well fleshed out. The performances in this film are outstanding, and the soundtrack by Elliott Smith (RIP) is incredible.
Family Guy had this running bit that Matt Damon actually wrote the entire screenplay and only gave credit to an inferior intellect such as Ben Afflex due to loyalty bred of a long friendship. I don't know why this got started, but I was often ashamed to find myself laughing in spite of the mean spirit of this. Ever since, I've had to remind myself that I actually have no reason to believe that Matt Damon is smarter or more accomplished than Ben.
To be fair, they had a lot of help. Apparently the draft they first turned in included a major plot in which Will took a job with the NSA and there was a bunch of spy thriller stuff going on, and they were told, "No, this should be about the relationship between Will and Sean."
@@susanb4213 actually wouldn't be surprised if Matt Damon was in fact smarter than Ben Affleck but I don't think that's an insult. I'm sure Ben Affleck has strengths that Matt Damon doesn't have.
There are two kinds of people. Ones who watch the 'Come to California' scene and are confused by Will's actions and those that know exactly what he's doing and why. I'm the latter and it's a bittersweet thing to watch people react to it in the former manner. Because on the one hand it's a little frustrating to see them not 'get it' but on the other hand they don't get it because they're psychologically healthy people without attachment and abandonment issues. In the end I guess I'm glad so few people really 'get it' because it's a painful and lonely way to live.
When you broke during the cancer experience part of Sean's monologue, I KNEW you were reacting to something in your life, then *I* teared up because your pain was so real and relatable. "That only happens when you love someone else more than you love yourself" are powerful words. I feel that for my daughters. Great movie.
@@sean---the-other-one her job is literally caring for people, she has done countless streams for charity and if you watch her content you can see what kind of person she is. Good enough for you sir? And yes being ridiculously beautiful doesnt hurt
@@sean---the-other-one As the answer and response would be different for everyone. I think in short, the answer is just Because. For me. The emotion she gives off when she's reacting here, is genuine and beautiful. That's part of what makes an incredible reaction. Its the part some us need to see in others, especially if we were raised to not display it ourselves, or worse had that emotional guidance system so messed up we reacted the opposite to what you'd expect.
@@moviewatcher1127 agree. I took Sean's question to actually be frivolously provocative. I just finished Centane's reaction, I thought it was particularly special because of the depth and personal nature of her reaction. I don't find the word "incredible" all that unusual, but I do find it unusual to call it out and insinuate some hidden motive. Bad form IMO.
I immediately recognized your pain during the cancer dialog "visiting hours don't apply to me". Even 15 years later, my own experience of my mother going through cancer, and being with her everyday in her last 3 months of life still takes its toll.
He said he didn't love her bc he didn't want to drag her down with him. He has a tough guy complex, which in his own way was how he showed his love for her.
I've lost both my parents and an aunt to cancer so that part of the movie hits me hard too. I'm glad that you found some closure through the movie. It's beautifully written.
This is just one of the greatest movies of all time. So many people can relate to it. It is so well done and written, by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon by the way. Robin William was just perfect for this. I miss him so much, he influenced my life as a kid so much with his comedic movies. And then we got this.
One of the best scenes here was when his best friend told him to go and fulfill his potential even if it meant not seeing him again. That's a real friend right there.
Funny random observation from a random stranger online who is seeing this random comment a year later: The first time I watched Community, I absolutely LOVED it. While there are still many things about it I love, I went back and watched it years later, and realized there were quite a few 'lessons' within the episodes that were basically just flying monkey bullshit that people use in real life to excuse/enable narcissistic behavior. This made more sense when I saw more behind the scenes stuff about Dan Harmon, and how he has major narcissistic tendencies. A stand-out example is the episode where they make fun Good Will Hunting, and basically say it's a bad movie about a bad friend, because a good friend would never encourage someone close to them to leave (which is very much a narcissistic control technique, where you hold someone back to keep them in your orbit). Ironically, they later contradicted this entirely in the episode where Glover left the show, and the 'lesson' was that the right thing to do is support your friend, even if they're leaving, which was precisely the 'bad' thing they shit on Good Will Hunting for doing.
Kamilla you did a fantastic job and seeing this from your perspective gave me a new insight to one of my favorite movies. When Robin passed away the bench in Boston Public Garden became a huge memorial and even today it's a popular spot for photos. What is really amazing about this film is that it started as a writing assignment for Matt Damon while he was at Harvard. For Matt and Ben to have written such a layered and brilliant script at such a young age is truly amazing. They totally deserved their Oscars for Best Original Screenplay.
16:02 "Were those egg in a jar?" I can't see them here, but yes, probably. Pickled eggs are an old bar food especially popular in New England. Apparently it's a tradition that German immigrants brought over which spread to the English, but it has become much less common these days because bars have improved their ability to prepare tasty food items.
They’re also pretty popular in the US South. Not so much as a bar food, but more of a country food (like something you’d buy in a General Store). Tasty, cheap protein with a long shelf life at room temperature. They’re commonly died red/pink for some reason, historically with beet juice but these days more often with food coloring or a little Kool-Aid.
I first saw it in my 20s and didn't like it. Boring? Yeah, that's probably what I would have said. However, seeing it again after gaining more life experience and self-awareness, it hits a lot differently. As a result, one of the things that impresses me the most about this film is that Matt and Ben had enough insight into the human condition to be able to write such a script at such an incredibly young age.
I know I'm late to this one, but bless you for this beautiful reaction. And RIP to your father. To have a daughter as committed to him as you, i already can tell he was a good man.
Minnie Driver (the gf) in this is just sublime. Her heartbroken moments are what sell the whole thing. Not just her, the whole damn movie is just insane acting. But she doesn't get the credit she deserves for this.
This films so good many, many ways. But to me Robin William´s speech in park Bench is gutt punch. I always remember how how my mother died in ALS, we borther´s pretty much took turns to stay at her the last year. Doctors said she wouldn´t last more than a few months but she fought almost year against the inevitable. The scene always makes me remember that and the smell of hospital. God that Robin William´s performance is good in this film
This is such an amazing movie. Heartbreaking, tender, dark and bright. "It's not your fault" (cue in tears). I appreciate your reaction to this movie, it was real and great.
I love that reactors like you put yourself out there because it's more than just being about a movie.i lost my mom to cancer and I always appreciate when I can not only enjoy a great video but someone I can relate to going through this❤
Sorry about your dad. In the last 7 years I’ve lost most of my family including relatives and animal family. It’s devastated me. Nobody can escape this reality, it’s just the cruel nature of life, though that doesn’t give us much comfort to know you aren’t alone in this horrible pain. It’s something that we must live with for as long as our time lasts on this planet. For what it’s worth, I truly believe you will be with him again someday. I’ve always been a Christian but I think most of us have doubts from time to time but after I lost my brother he came to me in an amazing and emotional vision. The details I suppose aren’t important but it was something unlike anything I have ever experienced. It has given me a peace about life and I hope in some small way it helps comfort you too. You will be together again.
Love your channel. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s team work on the story was paid off nicely. And can’t forget Robins Willams performance. RIP you legend.
I'm 50, a grown man. I've seen this a minimum 20 times. I cry every time I watch this, and I'm no crier. Great reaction to a truly Great movie. RIP Robin Williams.
Sean started out referring to Will as “sport” and at the end was calling him “son.” I love how they both saved one another. What an absolute perfect film.
The best films can compel you to not talk while watching them. The best films will pull you into the story, so much that you feel like you're part of it. You get attached to every word, every action and reaction, every bit of the drama and suspense. Good Will Hunting is one of those films!
Beautiful reaction. So sorry about your dad. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've never quite been in the trouble Will gets in, but I've had a lot of issues from my past that often haunted me (and still do). This was one of the first movies I ever watched where I got to the end, to Sean telling Will it's not his fault, and I just hysterically sobbed. Because I, like so many of us, just carry SO MUCH and put SO MUCH blame on ourselves for what others have done to us. And I really put myself in Will's shoes and I heard Sean telling me it wasn't MY fault. The things that had been done to me, the abuses, all of it. The movie has so many great moments. Wonderful comedy. Romance. Drama. It has literally everything. But most of all it has PATIENCE. Sean is patient enough to not try to force his way through Will's defenses because he knows and sees how defensive he is and that he has to show him that he can trust him before he can get in. And I think that's something that a great many of us need in our lives... patience. Thank you for what you do.
The park scene is one of my favorite monologues. Your explanation as to why that hit you so hard though. I really just wanted to give you a big hug right there. I wish you didn't have to go through that.
That movie put Matt Damon on the map! He and Ben Affleck, they wrote this together! Oscars tend to do that to you! And from a young age too! Robin Williams was already madly successful, but he still took the Oscar as well for supporting!
what a beautiful reaction. you always do the best reaction videos. Is not about talking during the movie. They are called "reaction videos" and not "talking videos". Your face is always reacting to the movie. You are such a wonderful person, full of empathy.
One of my all time favorite movies. It did a lot for me as a man who eventually sought therapy to deal with some really hard issues. We need more men like that Robin Williams character to help us deal with our trauma. Great reaction. You have a new sub.
Robin Williams is not just Will's therapist here. He is OUR therapist! His performance transcends mere acting and brings a measure of self realization to all of us. Thus your powerful (wonderful) reaction.❤❤
The fact that you went to spend time with your father every day at the end means you are an amazing person. Thank you and I love you for that. Be the best that you can be and live your best life! You are amazing and deserve all the best things!
Never feel like you have to apologize for not talking during these videos. It's a reaction, not a discussion. We're here to see you appreciate it and get it. And your face said it all. Great reaction.
Can we just take a second an appreciate this moment in time. Reaction videos like this are rather new in youtube. We have the privilege to see people such as centane bear themselves, expose themselves to us and we in turn feel a little less alone, feel a little less cold for a brief moment and connect with them and share their feelings. Thank you centane for providing us with this connection and this warmth. We wish you all love and the best of things
A powerful movie and a powerful reaction. I lost my Father to cancer too and it was the deepest pain. Ultimately it did give me greater empathy to others and made me a better human at 39. I am sorry you lost so young.
most people have Will Hunting disease, i am one of them. you exude hope and feel the world around you. that is like seeing the sun rise up for the first time, there is nothing in the world like it(exept when the true beauty inside shows). great job. ALL MY HOPES, SEE YOU SOON!
The scene in the park on the bench is my favorite. It really humbled Will and made him realize that he really had no life experience despite being a genius. It also really served to give Williams’ character a backstory in a creative way. He has experienced everything he asked Will about and in just a few minutes it give his character a good deal of depth. Robin Williams really had a wide range when it came to acting. Starting out as a comedian, to acting in frames like this to even playing the villain in some movies. I’m recommend his movie “One Hour Photo”.
Also around the same time he did Insomnia, a remake of the Norwegian film starring Stelan Skarsgard. For a small independent film, the all around production was first rate. From the script, director, acting, music
You don't need to talk a lot. The tears spoke volumes. I have always felt connected to this movie. It came out when I was 14, and I always felt connected, as a young man who grew up in very rough circumstances, but was high intellectual. I spent my youth with rough dudes that never understood, and would even give me shit for carrying around books constantly. So yea, I did connect to this movie quite a bit from a young age. Nice to see your reactions to it...
12:18 My family and I are living with my mother and father right now for the same reason. He has stage 4 cancer. He's doing okay right now, but everyday is a battle and almost everyday brings more tears. So, I feel that too. I'm so sorry about your father.
If anyone finds movies like this or this one specifically, boring maybe they don't deserve nice things, movies are not for them. This type of movies are what true films are about. Great reaction n i'm sorry about your dad, many of us can sympathize with that
@10:42 Gotta be one of the best monologues ever written and probably no one could have delivered it better than what Robin Williams did. The beauty of this movie is that everyone can relate in some way.
I'm very sorry for your loss Camilla. I saw this film years ago and always found Robin Williams monologue very powerful and that was before I'd ever lost anyone close to me. But once you've suffered a loss, you find a whole new appreciation for his performance, even more so when you find out he committed suicide in real life due to depression I could tell that his monologue hit you like a tonne of bricks. Anyway, you should take comfort in the fact that you obviously had a great dad, otherwise the loss wouldn't hurt so much. i know "Will" is a fictional character BUT there are many people in the world like him, who have terrible dads or no dad at all etc... and they will never experience the loss that you have experienced but they also never experienced the love that you did and they'll never have all the precious memories that you have etc.... It's ok to hold on to grief but also hold on to all the happy memories to!
This movie is beautiful and i enjoyed your honest reaction so much. Because of Robin Williams i highly recommend "Dead Poets Society" with him and young Ethan Hawk. Its a heartbreaking movie, too. And i am sure you get this of many people here, too.
It's a "reaction", that doesn't mean always talking about the movie. Your reaction is in your face and your eyes, the tears rolling down your cheeks. This was one hell of a reaction!! Thank you!!
So glad you enjoyed this movie, but also sorry that it brought back some difficult memories for you. That wasn't my intention, but I hope the closure you got gives you comfort.
This is one of the best written films of all time, and the performances of Damon, and Williams take it to a level that only a tiny handful of films can compete with. Robin Williams was generally a truly brilliant man, beyond just comedy or acting. That brilliance comes through in the depth of the characters he portrayed.
13:27 - Yes, it's supposed to "mess" with you. It's okay, this movie hits all of us much the same way it hit you, but in our own personalized way. Every so often, I personally watch this movie just for the free therapy sessions.
I had always thought the “It’s not your fault” scene was a little too easy, all things considered. But the guys at Cinema Therapy broke it down and said, no, yeah, it’s very accurate and true to how things often go.
@@prettyokandy230 I agree with both. It usually is not that quick and easy although sometimes breakthroughs that have been coming for quite some time have break through moments. Usually, people do not have a breakthrough and then they get over that bad thing and move on. People have break throughs and things go well. but then they are back where they were before 2 months later. There is usually more ups and downs even if the overall path is upwards.
yeah, if you can understand how it works, you can understand why it works. Will would only hear people saying meaningless words, until someone important - someone who truly understood his pain - drove the message into his brain
I'm glad this movie meant something important to you and helped you with things in your own life and soul. Many people I know who see this film have a personal connection to it. Lots of people cry watching it. ❤❤

I love this film. I worked at Miramax Films when it came out and worked on the marketing campaign/advertising art/poster. So many great performances in this film. Robin and Matt were great, but t eh whole cast and the writing and direction were well-suited to this material. It was one of the best films I had seen from Miramax, and I was proud to be a part of that. Another one was Slingblade with Billy Bob Thornton... another classic gem. Worked on that campaign, as well. I loved your reaction, and I'm glad it's still touching people's lives years later.
It is truly those little things, life farting in bed, those "ugly" things about us that create intimacy when we know someone accepts us even with those "ugly" things! I was sorry to hear about your father. Thank you for sharing that! I am glad that the movie was able to put you in a space where you can get some closure, as that is important! For me, the amazing part of this movie was Robin Williams' Sean. He was the "real guy" even when Will was not. Robin's portrayal, I think is what allows us to FEEL what he is saying, and not just hear it. It really is what puts us in a place where we can have some introspection. Thank you for your reactions!
Loved that you connected with this film. I am 43, and this is in my top 3 movies and I have watched this probably 100 times in the last 26 years. Love that it maybe gave you some closure yourself. I'd love to recommend the film Gattaca. x
First, please accept my sympathy for the loss of your father. I'm sure that he is very proud of you. I lost my father less than a year ago. This movie is one of the best I've ever seen, with respect to the level of connection between the actors and the viewers. Truly a great movie. It also showcases the talent of the newcomers like Matt Damon & Ben Affleck and the undeniable veteran, Robin Williams, may he rest in peace. Great movie, great reaction. Thank you.
I was him as well and it was my mother. I was 15 when we lost her. That scene always gets me.idk if you want advice or anything but all I can say is that the pain will fade away but the love will always remain.

Robin Williams holds a special place in my heart. I’m sorry about your father as well 🤗. Hope you have a great weekend and wish you all the best.
This is my favorite video of yours yet, Kamilla. Robin Williams is no longer with us, of course, but great art never dies and I think it's wonderful that you could watch a film older than you are and find something in it that relates to you. Keep these videos coming. p.s. It was terrific to hear you speak Spanish and have an almost-cameo from your mom.
I’m sorry. I just lost my father to cancer a few months ago. It still seems like yesterday. I haven’t watched this movie in awhile and that part hits different now. So, I was in tears with you. Sending ❤ your way. Great reaction. I love this movie. Subscribed.
What a lovely heartfelt reaction :) This movie is one of my faves. Sorry to hear about your father too. My dad has terminal cancer, it's an emotionally challenging time for sure.
I think that anyone that gives this movie a try will feel an emotional response. I often tear up when I see it, even when I'm just watching a reaction. I think there's a real human quality about it that takes us by surprise. It takes us to a place, emotionally, that we didn't know was there. It can be uncomfortable for some people as they are used to their masks bandaging over any heartaches. I'm a 63 year old man and I just retired. I have regrets but feeling something deeply is not one of them. Don't be afraid of the emotional depths inside you waiting for attention.
One of my favorite movies of all time. I've seen it a ton of times and it it still gets me each time. Amazing Ben and Matt wrote this movie so young. Titanic never should have one best picture over it.
For me, William’s suicide hit harder because he played in such cheerie and loving roles in movies, and especially this role as a grounded and tranquil therapist. If only he had his own Sean to help him. RIP
A most wonderful and sincere reaction, thank you, just subscribed to you. I might be looking too deep into things, but when Sean is telling Will that no one is perfect including ourselves, and only we have the choice to allow others into our world, speaks volumes to me. As we grow, get older, get wiser, learn through our mistakes, we can only then really choose who we will keep closest to us and who means the most to us and why. The people I knew when I was 18-25 years old meant the world to me back then but only 1 or 2 remain in my life now. Of course I've gained new friends since then but lost some of those as well. The fact is ..... we're all different and no one is perfect, not only friends but family as well. The knowledge we learn through our lives eventually carves a path as to who is perfect for us and who we want to keep in our world. I take that far more than just a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship and cast a wider net upon friends and family as well. Immediate family is always most important of course, but outside of that, we learn who we can trust, who we can count on, who we can trust, who we want by our side. Flipping the script on this, it makes me want to be one of the people others deem me worthy of wanting in their lives as well. Just do your best, be kind, be willing to sacrifice if needed for others and you'll all be fine and find the right friends and family for you as well.
My favorite movie EVER!!!!! (My condolences on your loss. I lost my dad also, who actually looked like Robin Williams.) This movie hits me so hard!.... Can't believe Matt and Ben wrote this when they were 19-20. Brilliant script!!
Robin also did a few other great roles similar to this... Good morning Vietnam, awakenings, and dead Poets Society. A couple other standouts are, The Bird Cage, and Mrs Doubtfire!
I'm glad you liked the movie. I'm showing my age here, but when I first watched the movie, I related strongly with Will as I was a young man who was lost at the time. And now that I'm a 'middle-aged wonder' who's finally got his act together (allegedly) and has lost people close to me, I relate a lot with Sean. It's a beautiful movie.

He felt that she was better off without him and his baggage.
Funny random observation from a random stranger online who is seeing this random comment a year later:
The first time I watched Community, I absolutely LOVED it.
I can say I've never met anyone who thought this film was boring.
This is a top 5 movie, up there with saving private Ryan, Shawshank redemption, Forrest Gump, gladiator, Braveheart
Very good list you have.
I know I'm late to this one, but bless you for this beautiful reaction. And RIP to your father. To have a daughter as committed to him as you, i already can tell he was a good man.
"It's not your fault" The repetition of this phrase touched me😭😭 ! Beautiful reaction of yours and thank you for this great video!
Your reactions are stellar. Dont ever change.
Minnie Driver (the gf) in this is just sublime. Her heartbroken moments are what sell the whole thing. Not just her, the whole damn movie is just insane acting. But she doesn't get the credit she deserves for this.
You don't need to comment anything while watching. Your eyes were commenting all the way through the movie. Thanks. Love from India.
Thank you for watching this. I relived the best moments, through you, as though it was my first time watching this masterpiece again..
I love that reactors like you put yourself out there because it's more than just being about a movie.i lost my mom to cancer and I always appreciate when I can not only enjoy a great video but someone I can relate to going through this❤
sending u so much love ❤️❤️
@@Centane I love you so much.i was trying to decifer your adorable accent but I heard a little Spanish.please tell me if I got it kind of close 😊
Will is a savant. Rare at that calibre at so many things. It's a trope used to great effect in this film.
Ben and Matt deserved to win an Oscar for best screenplay for this film. Great reaction as always!
this screenplay won an oscar. everything it makes you feel is intentional!
Perfectly quiet beautiful reaction! A lot of times no words need to be said when your face says everything!
Hell yeah!! Let's cry together 🎉
One of my all time favorites. It strikes at the very core of our humanity. Loving and being loved.
RIP Robin Williams! He was such an amazing actor. And also sorry to hear about your dad Kamilla. I'm sure he's very proud of u.
But once you've suffered a loss, you find a whole new appreciation for his performance, even more so when you find out he committed suicide in real life due to depression
I could tell that his monologue hit you like a tonne of bricks.
Hey dude…you’re the most down to earth reactor I’m subbed to…your perspective on things is so humbling…I could bet your father was a good man.
It's a "reaction", that doesn't mean always talking about the movie. Your reaction is in your face and your eyes, the tears rolling down your cheeks. This was one hell of a reaction!! Thank you!!
One of the best movies ever! So glad you liked it!
Man, my heart broke for you watching you relive your moments shared with your dad...😥
The add-libbing scene about his wife farting, and the camera shaking because the camera man is cracking up, is brilliant!
This was one of the most heart-felt, beautiful reactions I've ever watched...
But the guys at Cinema Therapy broke it down and said, no, yeah, it’s very accurate and true to how things often go.
i disagree, i wish somebody seriously told me that.
@Carl Peterson To be fair, we don't see his life after. No indication that he's fully through it all, just enough to let her in.
@@chaddon7685 True. good point.
yeah, if you can understand how it works, you can understand why it works. Will would only hear people saying meaningless words, until someone important - someone who truly understood his pain - drove the message into his brain
I'm glad this movie meant something important to you and helped you with things in your own life and soul. Many people I know who see this film have a personal connection to it. Lots of people cry watching it. ❤❤
Amazing movie, thank you!
The it's not your fault scene breaks me every time. Welcome to the club of people who have an emotional connection to this film.
Affleck and Damon's Oscar well deserved.
Thanks again sweetie!
I appreciate you opening up about your father. I just lost my only brother last week, he was 62. Know that many of your subscribers are reaching out to you with compassion and love.
love how in the beginning Robin Williams's character calls Will "Chief" or "sport" but at the end it's "son"!
Your genuine emotion is what makes me watch these reaction videos

Thank you.
I don't think I have ever found any movie with the late great Robin Williams boring personally. This movie is emotional and powerful
I was him as well and it was my mother. I was 15 when we lost her. That scene always gets me.idk if you want advice or anything but all I can say is that the pain will fade away but the love will always remain.
Great reaction! Loved it, some movies you just don’t need a lot of words for. How you felt came through on your reaction. This will always be one of my favourites. Robin Williams holds a special place in my heart. I’m sorry about your father as well 🤗. Hope you have a great weekend and wish you all the best.
What Dreams May Come is another amazingly beautiful movie staring Robin Williams. Definitely worth watching.
Thank you for a truly lovely reaction. Keep up the good work!
You've been through so much and have a wonderful heart. You're a wonderful lady
Her accent is the sweetest thing.
And boy, is she in for a ride.
Well done, this movie is a glimpse into classes, values and youth. You were the best, one of my favorite movies.
Great reaction too btw!
I'm so sorry to hear about your father. It's obvious you loved him very much. May he rest in peace.
One of the BEST Screen Plays Ever Written. Glad you watched it, wish you shared more than25 minutes.
One of my favorite movies, emotional like it was for you. I lived in Copenhagen in 1982 during college, watching your videos reminds me of that time.
You filming yourself watching/reacting to this movie made me feel like I (also) was watching this movie for the first time thoroughly for once.
Good job with the editing & commentary of the video, this is MY FAVORITE reaction in general on RUclips 👍♥💯.
Honestly one of my favorite movies, it's packed with cinematic gold.
