Very true. As a musician and of Classical and Jazz along with other genres, this is a great film. It represents the era in which it is set. The score and soundtrack are excellent.
I had to do a double take when his name came up he slipped into the character so well that I didn't even realize it was him until I saw the credits and then I started wondering which character he played and then I realized
It was considered an Oscar bait. People saw the movie as another white savior complex trope movie, didn't help that Viggo said some unflavorful things, the story is embellished, not accurate to the book allegedly.
I just love how appreciative his wife is at the end for him „helping“ with the letters. She knew that those were her husbands feelings but his friend helped him putting them into the letter. Some people would have been upset but she saw the beauty behind it. Such a short moment from a side character, and yet its one of my favorite moments in the movie. … and that his wife is played by Linda Cardellini helps of course as well. 😅
42:05 he was in a Sundown town. It was a southern unofficial (and in some places official) policy that restricts the town or area after dark to black people. Nice job of reacting to "The Green Book". The ending still makes me tear up in quiet joy. I grew up in Montreal, Canada. I was about 11 years old when we moved to the suburbs. My first good friend in my new school was a boy called Jeff Skoll. For three years, we were neighbours, classmates and best friends, until his family moved to Toronto in the late 70s. At the end of this movie, you can read his name as one of the Producers -- his production company, Participant Media, put up much of the money to get this gem of a movie made. Jeff got his Masters degree in the U.S., where he made friends with the founder of eBay, and Jeff became the first President of that online community. He retired at age 35, with two billions in his pocket and still owning 15%. Jeff then moved to L.A. to "tell stories". With a wish to make the world a better place, he produces politically motivated movies and documentaries, including "An Inconvenient Truth", a couple of films for George Clooney as director, "North Country" for Charlize Theron in political mode, and "Murderball", about quadriplegic basketball players who give everything to their game. Jeff's movies have won numerous Academy Awards and he is now one of the world's biggest philanthropists and investors in family micro-businesses in many poor countries. I cannot express how proud I am to have once know such a good and capable person. --- OronOfMontreal
Green book is a gem of a movie! Also I watched Murderball..I saw it in Toronto at the Cumberland Theatre (Cinema) during a break from work. Loved that movie too. Your childhood friend produces great films 👍
You are the only person to do a full review of this movie and I appreciate that because I missed it in the theaters and watched it with you for the first time too. Thank you and I will watch more of your reviews based on this wonderful heart felt reaction of this great flick.

Dear, I have seen this beautiful film several times in Italy: it was very successful here. It is a beautiful story about the birth of a friendship. Greetings from Milan, Italy
I'm curious. What does the Italian American way of speaking like Tony speaks sound like to someone who's from Italy? I understand there's a lot of slang in there that doesn't exist in mainland Italian.
@@robertlombardo8437 Thanks for the question. In our country, foreign films are almost all dubbed in Italian, so it's difficult to give you an answer. However, I watched some English parts on RUclips and indeed there are some expressions in Sicilian dialect, even though Frank Anthony "Lip" Vallelonga's family of origin was from Calabria, a region in southern Italy. I also read an interview with Viggo Mortensen in which he said that more than on the language, he focused on the typical gestures of us Italians without wanting to overdo it so as not to appear ridiculous and it must be said that he succeeded very well. I love how the dude said “you shouldn’t have punched the foreman for waking you up while you slept on the job” and she was questioning whether or not it was wrong as if it wasn’t just automatically the wrong thing to do
At 12:54, I'm the background extra wearing brown pants and a dark red shirt with the grey panels on the side. This section was filmed in "Hollywood South," particularly Hammond, Louisiana... they made two whole streets in my downtown look like NY back in the day... it was amazing! Got to shake hands with Vigo, who was a very gracious guy to all of us. One of the most fun 12 hours I ever spent on a set!

Great reaction and I'm glad that you came across that it was one that I had only just recently heard of because there were some RUclips clips going around. Not only a well done movie but beautiful from a cinematography standpoint
FINALLY! Someone's reacting to this. I still eat fried chicken in my car like that and think of the scene. You have to react to Best of Enemies next. It's a movie with similar themes and great acting.
The end has so many little things that would have never happened at the start. Tony saying to forget the money and miss the payday for the Christmas show, Don happily eating with his hands at the Orange Bird, Don wrapped Tony in his blanket that he’s very protective of, Tony, who threw away glasses touched by black men, now happily embraces and looks with pride as this gay black man embraces his wife.
