Have been addicted to these videos after dabbling in Etoro and nervous about taking the next steps. Every one of these videos is very entertaining, he's quite the talker and very conversartional. Love your work.
Awesome VID! is that mean once I stopped copy & pending to be closed so it will automatically closed later once the all markets opened? - another Question I have purchased stock and is now showing in my portfolio and the money deducted from my deposit !
Great video - but dude did you need almost 10 minutes to say you may have to wait for the exchanges to open according to the specific stock you are copying..
Yeah, I know - but you have no idea how many questions are also asked concerning stuff I mentioned in this video. I've found it's better to slowly go through stuff than do it quickly and still have all the questions cropping up about the other bits which I missed out on for expediency... Maybe I could give a short answer at the beginning, and then go into more detail. Good point, I'll try that :)
Hi Tom! great help as usual. i've got a problem: i've closed by mistake a copy position and now it's pending. there's something i can do to cancel the close request before the market open again?
Can I ask you a quick question. If I set an order for the market opening at market price via eToro will it instantly buy that position at the market price shown at the time? Hope this makes sense.
Happening to me (which is why I watched your video), had already thought it was probably due to market opening times, but I have 2 stocks on the London Stock Exchange, it is now Tue eve, and not a bank holiday. Still investigating. Not particularly worried as I'm just using the simulator with fake money at the moment, but would need to work this one out b4 putting real cach on the line
Hi Thomas, although you had mentioned on a previous video what you explained today (I did watch them carefully... ;-)....) even this last video was useful. I take advantage of your patience to ask you a couple of questions on the traders we copy. You mentioned on this video that the first screen you get when you click on a trader you are copying is what they are doing now (i.e. buying BTC, etc.. or even selling OIL or whatever, etc.) and the absolute amount that YOU are investing on each item ?...Does that mean that the total at the bottom of the page should correspond, roughly, to the amount you have put into the copy (i.e. 500 USD) ? Are these lines, items you see the latest actions, buy, sell etc. ? But then what is the "portfolio" page that you get on each trader ? Since it doesn' t show absolute amount but the "invested" column I reckon that it is the % of what you have invested with your copied amount that is on each item ? (i.e. 500 USD copied, 10% of BCH = 50 USD on BCH that you are investing ? In other words can you let me/us know in brief these 2 screens logic and use ?... thanks again and again... HAPPY HOLIDAYS !... Ciao !.. Roby
Hey there - sorry for the late reply, you've probably worked all this out by now :) Yeah, if you click on that person in your portflio, those numbers are the maount you've invested in each asset via the copy. there's the 'value' at the top right which shows the total amount you copied them with plus or minus any profits or losses, and the 'total open' at the bottom left of the page showing how much of that value amount is currently being used in active trades. All the trades you see there are current live / active trades. When you look at the trader's portfolio on their profile it doesn't show you how much money they invested as that's private, but it does show you what percentage of their overall account size they invested in each asset, so so that should you copy them, you'll know how that the same percentage of the money you copy them with will be invested in that asset. That's a nice idea for a video - cheers :) Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!
thanks Tom, very appreciated. Yes I did figure out eventually that first screen shows me the active trades that with my copy I am participating on, at the current, actual purchase price of course. Still, is the portfolio page of a trader a summary, in percentage, of what by copying I am participating ? Also, the OPEN invested amount of the first screen often is much less than what I have copied (i.e. I got one where I invested 700 USD and the active is 290 USD), is that difference the unused amount that the trader keeps for new transactions ? Does it make sense if that stays that way for days for me to withdraw part of the difference of the unused (i.e. 400 USD) to use it somewhere else in the mean time, while the trader initiates new significative trades, then I can "add funds" ?...... definitely food for a new video of yours... ;-).... thanks again... ciao !
Hello everyone, I try to figure out how the platform works. For one reason my Pending Closes, (5 altogether) do not close in my virtual portfolio (closed more than a week ago, the message of Pending Close is shown in light blue letters on the display, but nothing happens). Somebody knows why?
I am new to etoro and actually your videos are brilliant and very helpful!!! I just have a question and it might be a stupid one haha When I close a trade and its pending close do I sell it with the price at the time I have pressed to close or with the price when the market opens? Thanks
The best videos about eToro! Question: If I stop copying someone who had invested in a stock using CFD, and it says "Pending Close", will it execute the Stop Copying order the same way as a direct stock purchase not using CFD? Meaning, does the process of Stop Copying a trader get delayed if they had used CFD?
Hi there - thanks :) Everything on Etoro used to be CFDs, and actually a CFD should technically be able to close faster (from what I understand) as it's a purely mathematical entity unlike a real stock. So, basically, it should close at exactly the same time as the person you're copying closes it.
I have a question. In my experience, i was selling my last set of bitcoin but it cant get through. There is a message poping up when i tried to sell it. The message is "unable to closed the position". What is that mean? Is there any limited number of transaction in etoro? Thanks
Can't seem to find the answer I am looking for I tried to close a trade and it didn't seem to close then when I tried again multiple times it says all my positions are pending close yet it remains in my portfolio but not in any pending orders?
Lee Gibbs Hi there. When it's pending close it wouldn't show up in the orders section as orders are for positions you're trying to open. are you sure the markets were open when you were trying to close the position?
Please answer this, do overnight and weekend fees come out your available cash or of the price of the shares? I had some money in my available cash and some of it has gone, what happens if my available cash is zero ?
Just to make sure, I've taken a screen shot of my fees, and my available balance and in a few days, I'll see if my fees have gone up and whether my available balance has gone down - it's the only way i think i can be sure... I'll let you know. If i forget, remind me.
Sorry also. Next to the the current share price say etherum 1088.1320 there is another number in green 6.5024 then another number in brackets.(0.78)What are theses green numbers? I think 0.78 is the rate it going up,!but what’s the 6.5024 Number?
Hi there - do you mean in this video? I couldn't find the numbers you mean :) Is it the Stop Loss? There are the column headings at the top of the page...
I think you might be meaning the profit in dollars. That the first of the green numbers on the right - at the top it says P/L ($) which means profit or loss in dollars.
How do you cancel "pending close"? I decided to resume my copy again. i forgot it's weekend today. I'm a new subscriber btw. Thanks for the videos about etoro.
you can't unfortunately... you'll have to wait until it closes on Monday and then recopy. it has to wait until the markets are open to close the trades. After that, as long as the trader can still be copied, you'll be able to start the copy again.
@@SocialTrading I think you can easily cancel pending close before the market opens. theres a button 'cancel' pending close. maybe its a new feature, maybe in 2017 when tom was recording this, the option wasnt available
Can you answer this question. When I invest $200 against someone I copy and even though I have invested $200 it shows an initial value of $200 but down the bottom shows only $24 invested. Can't seem to find the reason.
Hi there, I think the answer's in this video : ruclips.net/video/UZ9F2F42vvI/видео.html and the one after it. Basically, if you didn't select "copy open trades" it's going to take a while for the trader you're copying to use up the money you copied them with...
I've sussed the reason why, when I invest let's say $100, I don't have $100 allocated to all trades even though I copy open trades. It's because, if the trader has allocated less then 1% of their portfolio to a certain stock then that value you invest in that particular stock is less than $1 (1% of $100) eToro does not allow you to invest less than $1 against any stock. Took a while to work out but I recon a video on it would be great. So you need to choose a trader carefully. If they have lots of stock they are trading in you need to make sure, if you are investing only $100, that their stock allocation is above 1% for a majority of stock. If they are less than 1% then you either need to choose another trader or increase your investment. Sound about right? Minimal copied trade size: The CopyTrader system doesn’t support trades lower than $1. The exclusion of small trades may distort allocation and performance.
Could it maybe be the answers you gave to those set up questions they ask about your risk profile etc? I've heard of this happening a couple of times before... They deemed copying 'too risky' given someone's answers. You probably have this sorted by now..
Hithere - it's a long answer and only one you can really answer depending on your goals and how much patience you have :) I made a video with some thoughts about it here : ruclips.net/video/hO1zncbWqFM/видео.html Hope it helps a bit.
Hello! I am copying a trader, and accidentally closed a copy that he had made. What will happen with future copies he makes? With that company for example? Have I ruined it?
hi there. it will mean that trade is now closed in your portfolio but not his, and your stats and the trader you're copying's will diverge a bit. if the trader opens new trades in that company then you'll copy the new trades. did the trader have many small trades open in the same company or was it just one big trade?
Thanks for your reply! It was just a small trade worth 1.61. There’s still multiple trades at the same value. So I presume it won’t make much difference? When on a pending close, do stocks that have an open market continue to trade (gain or lose money) while waiting on another exchange to close?
So if a copy trader has
5 stocks
For eg
Example 1 (stock market open)
Example 2 (stock market open)
Example 3 (stock market open)
Example 4 (stock market open
Example 5 (stock market closed)
Could you still lose money or gain money
On 1-4 while waiting for 5 to close?
