+kayserria Rumer has the best voice in the current female vocalists stakes, and easily surpasses Adele. In interview Rumer is refreshingly humble, and down to earth.Love her to bits
Dave Johnson ...Also, I hear some Rufus Wainwright inflections (perhaps he inspired by Dusty, too 😉. I adore the tone of Rumer's voice, utterly delicious on the ear & pleasant songs.
Lena I had the pleasure of seeing her about 6yr ago in Sheffield UK.. Small venue (approx 2/300) and although it was more for the wife. I was really impressed.. She could sing for sure
Many Rumer fans are asking Why is she not as well known as she should be? Adele happened.. I love Adele and she is talented as well.. But Rumer has not broken through the main stream as Adele.. But whatever. If your a true fan of Rumer you will follow and support her talent and music even if the main stream consciousness has forgotten or is unaware of her. Those of us that have discovered Rumer in our own ways, we need and should spread the word and her music to those less fortunate music lovers who know not what they have/ are missing in their lives. 🎶
Every time I think about the rising price of the Spotify subscription, I remember that 14 years ago, this was the very first random recommendation I got... listening to her songs ever since.
She is actually produced by Burt Bacharach, so he must have heard "Karen" too. As do we all, She gives me chills and makes me think of the beautiful tragedy that was Karen Carpenter. It reminds us all of the beauty she conveyed through her words, and songs. And still there is beauty in the world. We just have to look for it...
I just saw her on Live from Daryl's house, and immediately realized her voice is the most like Karen Carpenter's voice I have ever heard. I've always loved Karen Carpenter's voice. It totally grabbed my interest.
@@clansymbiont8688 Thats a very fair comment.... I cant speak for Rumer's producer on that first album as to whether that was an intentional thing or not. It certainly gained quite a lot of traction back then and it did Rumer's career no harm whatsoever. I dont think she personally made a big deal of it or consciously tried to make it a USP. And every subsequent album of Rumer's has been very distinctly different to the debut one where the Carpenter element is conspicuous by its absence. Hence, why I think it may have been more of a label/Producer decision on the debut album.
Pefection !!! Rumer knocks it out of the park with this one, very "Dusty Springfield. The horns are fabulous, love her in this airy Sixties setting. Her talent is a brilliant gift to us all. Thanks Rumer, love ya !!!
Finally a REAL singer!!! Very Karen Carpenter/Springfield [both fabulous] I'm sure those that don't like her are either metal or country fans....shudder shudder
First time ever heard Rumer today singing I Can’t Go For That with Daryl Hall and band, amazing, how did I miss this 13 years ago, making up for lost time, love Slow and Aretha, beautiful songs 😊
Forgiving is not forgetting...It's letting go of the hurt and some what forgiveness brings inner peace.... I love the message of this song...and of course the gorgeous singer... It's similar to Adele ♥
omg!!!! heard the song 1st on Jay Leno and I was truly mesmerizer! It reminded me of my Mom and the beautiful music she listened to in the 70ths.I played her music all night. I really miss you mom!
Absolute perfection, this song is her best by far, in fact the whole album is a real gem but this track alone resonates more than any other, playing it once is never enough for me!
Heard Rumer sing this live on Jools Holland yrs ago and became a fan. Got her cd loved it, her voice is soulful and beautiful. Have seen her perform at Daryl's House, that also speaks volumes to me.
Any body else want to smack the people who thumbs downed this video. Lol in all seriousness, late to the party but I'm absolutely in love with this girl's voice.
She's amazing......No need for her to strain her voice like Aguilera/Carey/Houston with messy vocal acrobatics. Just pure, naturally stunning vocal talent. Hope she gets the recognition she deserves.
The sound of the vocals on the chorus makes me think there is a Beach Boys cover or two that would be fun to hear you sing. Rumer, you have one of the finest voices on the planet. Such a treat to hear you sing.
It’s 2024 and I’ve only just heard this but- no matter- it’s quite beautiful and reminds me less of Karen Carpenter and more of Dusty Springfield who is my favourite vocalist of all time. This could be 1966 and I could be hearing it on a Dansette record player or it could be 2054 on whatever device will be prevalent then but the beauty and quality transcends all - a rare gem to be sure.
Love your songs, your singing, the devotion and hard work you and your musicians put in your songs. I just hope that you will not feel in any way offended if I say you are as equally gifted as Ms Dusty Springfield in sharing your gift of song to the world. I've started to hear your music only this Christmas time and have come to embrace all of them. Much love your way and more success!
OMG! She & Adele rock!!!! Okey, let me clear this out. Rumer & Adele have their distinct characteristics hence no comparison needed. Both are GREAT! And yes BOTH are BRITISH! Nuff said!
Heard this song in work on the radio. I didn't know who or what it was. But I was determined to find out as it is such a lovely melody. I eventually found out and having stopped listening to it,, since. Rumer, what a lovely voice, all her music is lovely and makes me feel good.
Can't wait to see her in Oxford on 26th March.....truly amazing voice, and so clear, you can understand every word she sings, unlike a lot of singers now!!!!
Good music comes from all kinds of artists all over the world. Great British acts have been influenced by great American acts and vice versa down the years in pretty much equal quantity. Who owns music? It's like arguing about who owns the air that we all breathe!
Am I the only one who feels in the air music from the Fifth Dimension? She is so awesome! Lobe her style is like a breeze of fresh air... Wonderful music!
I came to find this song that i remember buying over ten years ago as it was in my memory somewhere and without any prompting, hearing it or anything it just came back to me whilst out walking .... a memorable voice, reminds me of Karen Carpenter .... such a lovely voice
the whole album is magical...tones of dusty and karen all rolled up in rumers mysticalness...cant help thinking she looks like elkie..tho...elkie is my all time fave british funxstress....go rumer...ur triffic...:-)
After a hard day - is their anything nicer than to sit back and listen to this beautiful singer.
what's going on??? this woman should be a major star!!! I found her music about 2 years ago and she's amazing!!!!!
+kayserria Rumer has the best voice in the current female vocalists stakes, and easily surpasses Adele. In interview Rumer is refreshingly humble, and down to earth.Love her to bits
ps she has also, obviously, studied another genius,Dusty Springfield, for her mannerisms.Best female vocalist since Dusty
Dave Johnson ...Also, I hear some Rufus Wainwright inflections (perhaps he inspired by Dusty, too 😉.

Dave Johnson Oh yes, definitely!

Why is she not as big as Adele, she has the voice!
Her style is probably a little too sophisticated for the masses. Not "edgy" enough maybe. ˆ◡ˆ
Because she doesn't shout her songs, she s so much more laid back, with an incredible edgy voice. I could listen to her for hours on end!
I'd like the song. The melody make me so fresh.

There definitely are notes Rumer hits that sound just like Karen Carpenter. I had no idea Rumer was this good! Congrats!
I just saw her on Live from Daryl's house, and immediately realized her voice is the most like Karen Carpenter's voice I have ever heard. I've always loved Karen Carpenter's voice. It totally grabbed my interest.
That's where I discovered her Daryl's house, singing Thankful for what you got,, was hooked..😏❣️
Her voice is nothing like Karen's.
@@clansymbiont8688 but the production on this first album certainly is the closest anyone has got in a very long time.
@@stevem-h3562 You speak as if they were trying to emulate Karen. That does the artist a disservice as well as Karen's legacy.

anyone remember 'Spanky and Our Gang' [the 70's] - parts of this remind me of their feel - wonderful upbeat song!
Forgiving is not forgetting...It's letting go of the hurt and some what forgiveness brings inner peace.... I love the message of this song...and of course the gorgeous singer... It's similar to Adele ♥
Shes actually hard, bringing back that old Motown feel !!!!!

Great song in the tradition of early 60s pop songs but with a contemporary sound and arrangement. Wonderful!

She's so beautiful
What's good is her authentic 1970's sound. I hope she doesn't destroy it with her popularity.
It’s 2024 and I’ve only just heard this but- no matter- it’s quite beautiful and reminds me less of Karen Carpenter and more of Dusty Springfield who is my favourite vocalist of all time.

This song was playing in store. I had to Google the lyrics and it brought me here.
Wow. During 3:36 min... I've gone back in the 70's, behind the wheel of my old 1973 Oldsmobile again....^^
