    No joke, I was craving this sooo badly yesterday when I was texting my cousin as she was at a Thai restaurant. I was telling her I love Thai beef salad... (I still have the text for proof haha!) So ended up looking for your recipe when I woke up. Thank you for reading my mind. I will have to try this on Tuesday!

    As a Khmer Australian mum has always cooked with Chilli and as she got older she couldn't handle it... Unfortunately I'm the only one that can withstand extra chilli so I really have to tone it down when I cook. Might do this tomorrow! Nothing beats your Crying Tiger recipe its addictive. Also Marion I can't find your book anywhere! Sad times, also there should be a competition for a signed edition! Its funny how growing up with my parents I have had mad respect for Thai food, Thai language and Thai people. I know that history says otherwise but I truly believe further generations will change and hate will cease to exist. Heres uniting everyone through food! #freedom #love #food #noi #thi #khmer #thai #family #weareone #whydidmariongetbootedofmasterchef #stillsalty #whatevenwasthat #rigged

      Actually I find that with a lot of my family members Vireak. As they get older it seems they can't tolerate the chilli heat as much. And I'm sorry but both my cookbooks are currently sold out! :-(

    Just an odd point here: I broke the handle of my all-time favorite 1.5 quart saucepan using it for a meat mallet. A rolling pin is what I use now because I am like you and don't like having kitchen utensil clutter especially for tools that are single purpose and only used a couple times a year. Just saying. I love your channel!

    That sawtooth coriander is called culantro where I come from. It can be found in Publix, if anyone has one in their area, or any spanish grocery store.

    Nam tok neua is the most frequent dish I order in a Thai restaurant. But the original Isaan recipe is far tastier than what you get in restaurants. You cannot cook the beef well done; its blasphemy!

    Could you use flank Steak?

    • @Shelsight
      @Shelsight 4 года назад

      I’m literally about to find out, as it’s the only steak they had left in the local supermarket today, on my once a week ‘lockdown’ shop. Not sure if you tried the flank steak after writing the comment but I always figured it would be good as it’s usually sliced very thin against the grain for tacos, etc. That way it’s as tender as filet but way tastier... :)

      Marion's Kitchen she gave me her recipe and it is very similar to yours, she adds mint, coriander, Thai holy basil and another aniseed tasting leaf. I ate it in front of a fan so I could cool my tongue but so delicious.

    • @Marionskitchen

      LOL. Eating in front of a fan! 😂Must have been hot!!!!

      Marion's Kitchen I was born in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and there are lots of crazy chilli hot dishes that require a fan one is Acharoo which is a combination of green mango, ripe mango, Ambarella (hog plum), pineapple, olives filled with a sweet spicy mustard, chilli powder, sugar, vinegar and crushed mustard. It certainly needs a pedestal fan right in front of your face to cool the tongue down. Funnily enough I eat it with chop sticks, small amounts of a time.
      I am a Dutch Burgher to just complicate matters.
