I believe that the single handed backhand drive volley is simultaneously the most difficult and the most beautiful shot at the same time. I only know of one player to hit it with such regularity...
FedEx’s hand-eye co-ordination, footwork & movement are absolutely legendary - no one comes close - others wait for the ball to bounce, he sprints ahead in a flash & dispatches it in style …. gosh what a gift he is….
I dont think most players of the last 2 decades would have even hit as much drive volleys in professional matches as much as Federer's drive volley winners.... a ridiculously dangerous shot hit for winners with ease. peRFect !
@@15Stratos who do you think he copied from? plus he doesn't hit as many winners... but yes, he is pretty much the only one doing it.... I found he does drive volley, but much more volleying that looks like drive volley. like his drive volley looking shot is pretty inside the service box... not even service line... that's mostly volley.
What makes Federer so special & magical is, his risk taking abilities! The man will literally come onto the net in a blink of an eye facing break points or match points. This type of showmanship requires a lot of guts. It's incredible he has all those monumental records to his name with such a risky game style!
Absolutely... Rafa and novak would have 0 grandslam titles if they adopted this playstyle... That's why Roger is the greatest sportsman of all time without a shadow of doubt... He plays only instinctive tennis... Though it has backfired in twilight of his career he doesn't back off...
@@vijayendranvijay4538 Totally agree with you! And yes it has backfired many times in the twilight of his career, & costed him slams & masters but I'd still want him to continue with his instinctive artistry, it's why we all watch tennis & enjoy it so much. After all, who wants to watch baseline grinding boring long rallies, 2 players trying to outmuscle each other from baseline with their advanced racquets, waiting for each other to commit an unforced error. It's so boring & dull. No wonder tennis popularity has gone down so much in the last 2 years without Roger. I heard that in South Asia, ATP couldn't even find a TV broadcasting channel who wants to bid for their Masters & 500s 😂 Damn!!
This is what sets him apart imho. I have the utmost respect for Nadal and his style of play but I do find it repetitive (although extremely effective). I enjoy more the variety of Federers style and the innovation he brings. The SABR is an excellent example. Who else does this? and makes it effective?...
@@paulelverstone8677 leave his sabr skills... But his ability to take the ball early and going for outright winners is just breathtaking and with that risky play he won 20 slams... If rafa/novak adopted this game style, they would end up the match with most number of unforced errors😂
It is a disgrace to this sport not to have even 1 ATP 1000 Grass tournament every year. There are 3 ATP 1000 clay tournaments every year. Grass surface is supposed to be most difficult, tricky surface.. Requires lot of skills & enormous talent. Clay tournaments are played 2.5 months ( April, May, June 10th) where as grass the most important surface less than a month ( june 12th to july 5th) is played every year. It is a shame to this sport
Maria it does not matter what other people think because Roger is high quality and entertaining tennis. He is a legend and will remain a legend when Nadal and Novak are no longer mentioned .
I was watching videos of Hicham El Guerrouj running the 1500m today. He just seems to have a sublime running style that is so effective. Federer is much the same; his style is so graceful, so right, and yes, so perfectly effective. 🎾🍾❤️
El Guerrouj seemed to float when he was at his best and in full stride. It's kind of like watching Kipchoge run a marathon. Everybody else is straining and he's just floating along on his merry way...
Roger Federer is and will go down as the Most ICONIC & Beloved and Naturally Talented player in History and 1 of the GREATEST in History...While others run around the Court Grunting and trying to POUND every ball and with BOTH Hands Federer Makes it look Effortless with his Creativity and Skill and does it with 1 Hand
Federer doesn’t wait for the ball. The ball waits for Federer. Love his style of attacking tennis. Hardly watch tennis anymore because all people want to to do is grind every point. So boring. The amazing thing too is that he could grind out points when needed.
I saw your passionate comment about Carlos Alcaraz. I can't change a one-hander for two-hander, so I don't know what you find attractive in the game of the Spaniard.
Roger's game and talent will (probably) never be equaled in tennis. It's the most satisfying thing to watch in tennis and at his peak probably the very best as well. But it's impossible to ignore Alcaraz at this point. He is head and shoulders above any player since Nadal and Djokovic rose to the scene in the mid 00s. He just turned 19 and is already incredibly complete. And the scary thing is that his athletic level is at one of those 'once in a generation' levels. With that being said, no he won't replace Roger for me. No one ever will in tennis. But I'm happy that after a decade of nonsense, a generational player with the right mindset has finally arrived.
@@RazOls Very true, he's the player we need but don't deserve. Why do we not deserve? Because, we still believed in shits whom we could have simply passed.

I think of those as swinging volleys, whereas drive volleys are regular volley form, but where you really stick the ball hard to a corner, as opposed to a touch volley

It's one thing to be supremely talented and gifted, but to routinely execute shots that for others are too risky, is just mind blowing stuff.

Hope we get to see many more of those insanely good drive volleys. Come back soon, Roger 🥺
The FH drive volley is my favourite Fed shot to watch, it's so beautiful and technically flawless
Thanks Raz!
Does anyone still dare to doubt that he was, and is, the best tennis player ever?
In time Roger’s legacy will only become greater. He passes the eye test like other player. Same as Jordan in basketball

When he does these shots at grandslams it feels so different, he's just on another level .

Even the players miss him.
Can't wait to him against Alcaraz
Only because of this video alone for me he is the best player ever lived. No one could convince me differently.
F*** the titles count
Well said tomerg7265 .
I recall him missing one in the 2019 Wimby final against Novak..hard shot
Sir Roger federer golden legend in universal love you so much ❤❤❤
drive volley is 1 of federer's signature move. he is a master of all types of vollies
If it comes to technique he is unrivaled
Federer is the most complete tennis player, he can play any shot with decency and excellence, he's naturally gifted .
the sheer timing required to hit an effective drive volley winner (at the top-10 tour level) must be extremely difficult. this is genius at work!
I tried this the last time I played tennis. Smother in the bottom of the net; this shot is hard af 😂
Congrats Raz on 83K Subs
Thanks you 🙏🙏

Best volleyer 2004-2022
it takes lot of skills to hit these drive volleys .. not everybody's cup of tea ... and then he is hitting even back hand drive volleys
Such an effective shot because it allows no time to anticipate the return for the opponent

This is funny. I bet 90% of players on tour haven't hit 50 drive volleys in their entire career...mainly because nobody comes to the net anymore...
