I'm getting ready to do the same thing. But mine's going to be 16 feet off the ground. You're giving me great ideas. Use old fake Christmas trees that people throw out as camo

That crack in the corner of the bedroom is an open door for squirrel’s and rats that will shred those beds and everything else in there in no time. It has to be almost bullet proof. Great idea though and I have wished for a place to nap in the stand several times. Good luck and enjoy it.

Thanks for the comment. Everything is sealed and I have had zero rodent problems since I built it. I even put on glue traps, but never anything!

Only thang is one has to eat cold/thermos food as we wouldn't want to have cooking odors wafting thru the air. But it's the stuff November dreams are made of.

I humbly offer a suggestion about the roof covering. There is a product on the market called, Ice Shield. I think the real name is, ice and water guard underlayment. The stuff is a self sticking. One layer of this stuff will last decades. Just a thought.

Actually it won’t the sun will break it down after a year max. I’ve roofed for over 25 years so know about it

@ Well, I have had it on my outbuildings in virginia for close to 30 years and its just fine. Maybe you are just used to using inferior materials?

Well I wouldn’t think the shingle company’s would be selling shingles if the ice sheet lasts that long

    No ventilation?

It's been up for two years and it has no ventilation problems, there are enough subtle gaps (like door).

Still regular rifle season and deer are coming to my 3 story home's bird feeder. Off the ground is nice but......

Late to the game here, but that's one kick-azz hunting blind! Question: Is it possible to wrap the outside with exactly the same as the surrounding foliage? Make it so it just disappears into the forest, so to speak. Kind of like one of those 'can you see the sniper?' Never seen anybody do that.....

Thanks for the comment. The plywood is 3/4 inch Pressure Treated, so it will accept anything stapled, nailed, or glued. I think you would be fine. The other thing that I have done in the past is staple pine /spruce branches all around. But honestly, I am invisible in the way I have it. I have had beer and deer walk in front of window so close that I could have touched them!
