- Short ride and mini review of the 2005 ZX10R , still my favorite sportbike!
I never did do a review of my ZX10R when I bought it a few years back....
The 2004-2005 ZX10R has a huge following because of its “built for the track” engineering. Steep steering rake, lightweight, narrow chassis, close-ratio 6 speed transmission, high power-to-weight ratio and no traction electronics is what attracts so many people to these bikes for the track and for the road alike. 2004 and 2005 the ZX-10R won Best Superbike from Cycle World magazine. Has a cult like following and is considered by many as the best bike of all times!
Speed limited at 184 mph, 175 hp at 11700 rpm, 0-60 2.8 seconds, 10.2 second quarter mile @ 146mph, 370lbs, 2.11 lbs/hp and still get 42mpg!
I don't ride her too much since I got into dual-sport bikes, but WOW, what a rush when you get back on! Crack that throttle and hang on.

Had an ‘05 myself; leaving an on ramp at 80mph in 2nd gear, and a driver wasn’t going to let me over. I cracked it open, and rolled it right up into a power wheelie. That bike was stupid powerful!
They are insane! Power to weight ratio is silly :)
It was my fav bike I ever owned. I had the same color as shown in my display pic. I remember wheel spinning and lifting the front with out much effort. Mine had a full superbike exhaust, power commander and sport filter before losing my licence
Damn. Sucks you lost your license.
600 dimensions, thousand power. You hit the nail on the head. Had the 06, not the same
👍👍😁
I could have any motorcycle I wanted and purchased a 2005 ZX-10R two weeks ago with 8,000 miles (actually less due to the gearing and not having a speedohealer). This bike is pure insanity. They call it the widowmaker for a reason.
Absolutely!!
thanks for your reply im breaking my neck trying to get an 06 gsxr 1000(best year every made) the dealer wants $6k, where I could easily buy an 04 zx10r for way cheaper!! Ill give the kawi some attention. I owned an 02 zx6r & 04 636...
@@klote82 picked up an 05 with a Brock pipe yesterday with 25K on the clock for 2,300 bucks! had over 150 bikes since starting at out at 17 ...went over 200 m'p'h' on a 99 Busa(modified) 67 years old now...tryin' to relive my youth!
Wow. Good deal! And yes they are sooo fast for an older bike
I think the problem with sportbikes - and I do love them - is you want to spank them; they just don't feel right being ridden casually, at least not to me. In many ways I prefer the dual sport pace because I just enjoy the ride.
+Sullybiker I have to agree. Like a sports car
Depends on many factors. I always had zx10r's one for track one for daily commute and mountain blast weekends. Sold it left the one for the track and got me a like new blackbird... nope sport tour not for me. Sold it in 2 weeks and got an 07 10r for daily. Ive been riding bikes since 4 (national 250cc ages 12-16 3x dirt champ with kawasaki) at 17 got a 636 and story goes from there. Some people just refuse to let go of a supersport position and feeling i guess. Plus without mirrors it lanefilters better than any scooter:p as for spank factor. I commute work thru hway so they get on redlines pretty often. Depends on the rider and where its heart beats always. If servicing is by the book. Spank or no spank dont matter
At the end of the day. is what type of bike stirs your soul more i guess
Still have this monster. My 2nd one. Have this one for 5 years. My previous one crashed, had it for 8 months. Current one -1 and +2 sprocket size, quickshifter, upgraded suspension. And now with 60.000km the paintwork is also getting restored. Driven a lot of bikes but nothing matches the feel this bike gives.
No frame cracks or valve spring retainer issues?
@@fzr1000981 i had the frame cracks a few years ago, they have been welded.
No, but frame cracks tcommon for sure. Hard wheelie drops they say is the main cause
@@PR0DEM0 dedicated Gen 1 owner
Have one on my back porch. It was given to me with no title from my dad I don’t know how he got and the frames cracked. I saving cash for the frame everything else is perfect I been only riding 300,s can’t wait
That was such a bad ass clip. People forget that these older models will hold there own against the new models
🔥🔥🔥👍👍
650ib got his ass handed too him by an 04 zx10r on his h2 which at that point he claimed to be the world’s fastest h2. The zx10r was rebuilt and had a LOT of modifications to it though but was a good video
You should look up world’s fastest h2 slayed by zx10r was an 04-05 dude put a lot of work into it walked right over it
@@maxbartholic8090 crazy thing is... The bike really didn't have that much work done to it.
Possibly the best bike ever,, even now modern bikes aren't as raw
Agreed!
Man i love that bike. I really want ed one when they came out but i had a 2001 ZX9R and had a lot of work done to it. Fast forward almost 20 years I still want one
Suggested performance mod - a paid of gloves dude
Picking up my '05 in same color with 1k miles on it (mint condition) this week. These bikes are only going up in value (low mileage in good condition)
Collectable for sure.
Only 1000 miles? 😲
I have a 05 636 and I'm in love now I'm looking at a zx10r for a track bike idk if I want a newer model or this year
Nice!
Get a newer ZX10R for the track.
The Gen 1 is scary on the track. The front end has a mind of its own.
Need a Scott's stearing dampener on that bike

I have one of these and a heavily modified 08 zx14 and although the 10 is easier to flick into corners, I prefer my 14.. and it does pretty damn good in the corners and obviously is much faster 😂😂
Just how fast is FAST? Its all relative my friend...I've gone 450 m.p.h. 20 ft. off the ground in a 1944 P51 "Mustang" WW 2 fighter plane coming out of a shallow dive in a rural area in Ohio in 1990....now THAT was an adrenaline RUSH! Be careful...SPEED can be addictive...and dangerous! Live long and be careful out there MustangMike.
@@mustangmikep51 wow.. that’s crazy! Haha yes it’s all relative, I meant just faster than the zx10 😂😂😂😂 hey, I’ve gone 850kms/hr…. On a jet 😜 haha
ZX-14 is a boat, completely different bike
@@fzr1000981 yes definitely, but still 100% trackable
@@mustangmikep51 love motorcycles but WW2 planes will always be my heart and passion I’m 17 and can’t get enough of it
Nostalgia
Nice Bike, be careful do you wear a jacket with armor when riding fast? i would like to get a Suzuki, GSX-R600 but i would probably kill my self on it by crackin it wide open . i have only been riding for 3 months now i still have a lot to lurn.
+SouL Reactivator I don't horse around too much anymore, but if I did, I certainly wear protective gear. I'm bad, I ride with shorts and a T-shirt, LOL
SouL Reactivator learn is the proper spelling.
take your time going fast mate...I had over 150 bikes before I moved up to a 2005 ZX10R...EXPERIENCE is everything...don't be in a hurry to break the "sound-barrier"or you'll be breaking your bones.....be careful if you grab the tail of a tiger...they can BITE!
Reckon this is a good bike to go to from a bandit 600 or should I go to the zx6r first
Mark L depends on your riding ability, this bike is very responsive and snappy with the steep steering rake it's steering is quick too.
MotoCheez so perhaps a stock zx6r would be better
I'm in the UK so I got a little over a year till I can get either lol got time to learn
Zx10r is fun tho!
I just went from a 2011 zx6r to an 05 zx10r. The move wasnt hard but I also am very humbled by this bike
It's an animal for it's size and weight!
attaboy 👍👍👊👊
+zx10rmafia zx10rmafia haha. Knew you'd like!!
U keep all yer bikes in the van pal?
Enclosed trailers and containers.
My 2010 ZX10R is a gen 3 and puts out 200hp
They're heavier now too. This was 376lbs dry I believe
Your 2010 at most puts this out at the engine... not at the real wheel. Smh.
Where’s your gear?
I have a helmet
MotoCheez I have a 2004 I love it! Be safe!
@@whowell117 thanks!
No steering dampner?
No. Never needed one either. I did buy one to put on it, never installed.
Want to sell it? Which one
Sold already last year...
Still have the bike? Mileage? Mine arrives tomorrow. A time machine baby from 2005 with 1000 miles on the clock.
No. Sold it...
Get some gear squid
I have dear, I'm too old school I like driving in t-shirt n shorts yeah baby!!!
*gear
these idiots make our rego/insurance cost so much
Idk. T-shirt,no gloves...
And shorts! Hell yeah!!!
you want power to wheight ratio? buy a k5 then...166kg\178hp
True that!!
Actually the first generation ZX-10R is the lightest liter bike ever manufactured to this day (2022). 375 dry weight. The K5 is heavier both dry and wet. Those numbers are incorrect for the K5. Do more research. You overstated the horsepower numbers for the K5 too.
i need Cheezzzzzz
You must be from the sticks, you keep complaining about an invisible traffic i do not see, or in your case i assume thats traffic for you isolated rural folks.
Yes, yes I am!😁
@@MotoCheez Okie dokie now i understand.
