  • Video presents a method to replace the turbo oil feel line on a 2008 Mini Cooper S with the R56 turbo engine. Also discusses replacing oil seals on the turbo water cooling heat exchanger.
This is job which requires great finger dexterity since space is limited. Some people have pulled the front end off to gain easier access.

Thank you for the video. Very detailed enough that my anxiety over tackling this (prior to my watching this) has been alleviated. Love the part where you say "have to warn you, it's not easy" and "as long as you're patient and take your time, you can do this". Setting reasonable expectations 👍👍

Doing mine now! I didn't disconnect my o2 sensors. I just removed them from my downpipe and let them hang. Mine is a bit easier because I already had it apart to install my downpipe. The hardest part is the heat shield! Thanks for the video!

Good video, especially doing it without putting in front end service mode. If you are doing the oil filter housing gaskets, I would recommend front end service mode and dump the coolant in the beginning.
One thing I noticed you missed. The heat shield blanket protecting the Turbo Oil feed line. It's a recall that most people have already had done. Usually they come with these stainless steel braided line kits. I would advise everyone to put one on if they don't have it already. It protects that oil feed line from the intense heat of the turbo.

Do you think or guess if I squirt a bit of RTV silicon or sealant inside just where that tube fits in that crimp where o rings gone it will seal it ? Just a lot of work and mines same spot leak. I actually tapped the tube and it moved in more to fitting

Not sure, I know that there is some oil in the intake ducts between the turbo and the throttle body. The duct betweent the turbo and air filter is clean. This leads me to believe that the seals in the turbo are starting to leak. I may replace those next

I am assuming you are referring to the oil cooler to block seal. It is not neccesary but since you are in there, the access is great. This is a know leak area so I just replaced it while I was in there

Wasn't making any hissing noises before you took it apart and it wouldn't have helped just to try to tighten it a little bit more

The leak was not at the copper washer, it was the crimp between the hose and the fitting
