  • Here's another maintenance item.
    One thing to note is that when you get a slider pin kit, the rubber bushing is for the TOP slider pin. I am not sure what harm will be caused by installing it at the bottom, but you will notice installation is easier one way than the other.
    It is a repeat/redo of an earlier video. This one was more deliberate, and I hope it came out better.

    I’m very familiar with your work over the last 6 years or so. Thank you as usual. 2006 M45 here.

    Those slide pin bolts and rotor bolts came off with ease for you. I eat my Wheaties and it took some work. The rotor bolt on bottom I couldn’t loosen. I couldn’t find my breaker bar and plus it was a tight fit.

    That right rear rotor froze on mine. Can't come off the wheel hub. Metal is grinding and the metal particles are eating through my new rim.

    Thanks man. I watched so many brake change videos and they all approach it as a trivial thing to do. I changed the brakes of my 07 M35X when I bought it 2 yrs ago, but never paid attention to the location of rubber/steal pistons. I am due changing the rear ones and your video will be really helpful.

      Thank you for that.
      I have been guilty of trivializing some of my projects in the past (initially I recorded video as a personal diary). These days I break them down completely in order to cater to a wider audience. I also share any mistakes I make and pitfalls to watch out for.
      I am glad that seems to be working out.

    Good day sir, can i do a bbk for my rear infiniti m35 with sticking oem calipers? I do not want to change my wheels or get spacers because its difficult to get spacers. Can i do the rears alone? Thank you for your videos they are helpful

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah, you can do that. The rears are small enough that you can keep using your standard wheels. (The spare wheel won't fit though)

    Great videos. They're very helpful anytime I need to work on my M35.
    I did run into one issue when changing the rotors. The 19mm bolts had some corrosion, so it was a nightmare trying to take them out. The bolts got corroded because they didn't have any thread locker applied to them when they were installed. I definitely put on some thread locker this go round to make taking them off easier in the future.

    Did you have to bleed the brakes to do this? Do you know if the process is the same for the 1st gen m45? I'm trying to remove the wheel lugs/studs as 1 is broken.

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 лет назад

      No, I didn't have to bleed anything since I didn't open the system.
      There might be a way to pop out the wheel studs without removing the brakes... well, unless they are broken so short

    My rotors are stuck on, disappointed the rears dont have a spot for that 8x1.25 bolt to remove it. Probably going to go and buy a gear puller :/

    These videos are great. Any chance you could do a short video that talks about typical maintenance and repairs for a 1st and 2nd gen M45? I'm trying to decide if i should pay a lot more for a low mileage one or go for one with over 120K on it.

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 лет назад +1

      I've been planning to do such a video for a while. I suppose there's more demand for that kind of video now.
      To do it justice though, it might end up being a little long.
      This is what I can offer on the matter - I personally don't hold mileage at first priority. It depends on how the car looks, sounds, drives, behaves today. I would buy a 200k mile car if it has refreshed suspension and new valve cover gaskets, instead of a 150k mile one that's gonna need the work done soon. If the lower mileage car is significantly cheaper, then I'd consider. Otherwise, a lot of maintenance might be waiting for you in a few thousand miles.

      @@EdBwoy Bro, you can make the video as long as you like, I got time :) I've never bought a used car over 73K before so lots of things to consider -- that's why your insight would be invaluable.
      Also, I've noticed the prices for used M's are not linear for the 2nd gen. For example, a car with 150K miles might only be 3K less than one with 65K and so forth. So it would really help to have an idea of the typical maintenance and repair costs based on yoru real world experience.
      Also, any thoughts on the AWD version of the M45?

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 лет назад

      @@cyclonus01 I think that depends on features and the market. The cars are much cheaper in the East and West coasts from what I've seen.
      I think it also depends on what the owner has put into it. People that only fuel up and do oil changes might not ask for as much money as someone who has kept up on all the preventive maintenance.
