    Jim left out the best part. Humphrey was in the Guinness Book not because he was the heaviest man ever, but because he lost the most weight. He slimmed down from 800 to 232!

      He put some back on though, as I recall when he died he was about 540 lbs

    I remember seeing him on the movie Moonrunners, which was the film that inspired, and was the so called pilot for the Dukes of Hazzard.

    There was a man from North Carolina named Mills Darden that was much bigger than Humphrey, he stood 7'6" and weighed more than 1,100 lbs! And this was in the 1800's

    his lightest weight when he was a pro wrestler was around 600 + his heaviest in life was 1008 pounds. although he was usually 802 give or take a few
