Hello, I have a soundbar with only a usb port and a optical input and I’m trying to connect with a older tv that only has rca input and coaxial output. I picked up a digital/analog analog/digital converter along with rca ports and connected it to the tv and messed with the settings and i still don’t hear sound. Do I need to connect the coaxial to the converter and connect it to the tv?

I'd go with HDMI if your TV does indeed have HDMI-ARC simply because it looks like ARC is going to end up replacing Optical.

To what extent sound quality differs between rca and optical cable for entry level soundbar?
Hi C.TImes, to a very low extent. If it's optical (digital), it ends up getting converted to analog anyway so if you don't need to convert it, don't. but i would go with optical if you want 5 audio channels to run through a single cable.
how much information/data will be lost using this kind of converter? i'm thinking about using it on my record player that only has RCA outputs and routing it to a sound bar at the TV that i use as an audio system for movies and Playstation, audio from TV goes through HMDI so optical port is free to use. Optical cable shouldn't have any looses, so the lenght of the cable shouldn't affect to the quality of sound, but i'm not sure about this kind of converter...

I have an old TV which have only RCA inputs and 2 HDMI's (NOT ARC), and I have a soundbar with two inputs only Optical and HDMI ARC.
Can I put my ps4 on HDMI 1 and get sound from the soundbar using this converter? if I connect the soundbar to the tv with this converter using RCA and optical cables?

While optical can carry 5 channels for proper surround, rca is only 2. So no.
I need help, I have a digital to a analog converter to witch my smart Tv only supports optical and my stereo only has rca but when I connect them I don’t have any audio coming out of the big speakers witch are connected to the stereo can you please help me out here
You might have to go your tv settings and select EXTERNAL Speakers
