I love how you handle these situations. You move quickly and do what’s best for the dog. I find your channel educational, and it really shows what groomers go through when working with dogs. Thank you for sharing these videos and taking care of those dogs who need that extra care and help ☺️ you’re doing an amazing job!
Dede working with a difficult dog and teaching others how to, brilliant, you can see the dog calm down and feeling more secure a Dede is in control of the situation at all times!
OMG! If only this dog could talk & tell you what has happened to him. You are truely amazing! I didn't think you would even get to his head! And after all the struggles, he looks so cute. Great job Dede. You do so many things at once! The camera, coach the parents, teach the viewers about the holds & safety, all while working on the dog & trying to find the sweet spot in his energy to get him groomed. AMAZING!
3 months for puppies is an important month. They can go thru a fear imprint stage and traumatic experiences can have a lasting impact if they are not continually shown new pos experiences.
The amount of communication you're able to have with the dog parents is amazing. There's no confusion about your expectations or goals at any point, and that's my favorite thing about your videos. I'm not sure I'd be able to do this, but you don't leave any room for doubt in the family that they're also capable of doing the scary things to care for their dogs. I might admire you a little, sorry
What impresses me most is that he was coughing, panting and acting "choked" but you could see that fingers were not pressing his trachea. In the "other" video you were attacked for cruelty for a dog behaving the same way. You made sure that the pet parents made the calls and you took a bit more time using touch to calm him. This video is the best explanation of how the dog, not the groomer, can cause his own stress by anticipating pain and acting "as if". Kudos to you for being transparent with your techniques and being patient with a room full of people.
Great control techniques. Appreciate the extra caution you take to protect you and all involved. Can you tell me where to get the light green hand paddles that you use while controlling the dog's head? Keep your videos coming!
This was honestly an amazing job. I was watching anxiously how this would turn out and gasped when he almost got his tongue sliced. Such power in this 15 year old grandpa.
I don't know if people realize how much of a saint this lady can be to pet owners. Some of these owners only option would be to have the pet put under anesthesia to be clipped but when they are older and have health issues that also isn't an option. Not to mention, when they are older they could have heart problems which causes easier panting and coughing even when nothing terrible is happening to them, I commend her for being efficient and willing to take on these cases.
All dog that require regular grooming should be desensitised as puppies by their owners so this situation never happens. This wasn't a pleasant situation for dog or human.
He’s all bark. No bite. Cant bite. I have a 8 yr old maltese. I play who’s quicker with my hands to touch him ... he knows that when my fingers get too close or close enough for him to close in on them, he closes in just enough that there’s just enough for me to move off. I’ve also just deliberately place 2 or 3 fingers together in his mouth. He knows to just keep them betw his teeth without biting through. Then when the game is over, praise him stroke his head. He loves it.
The mom said they have in the past...everything except overdose him...they don't now because he's too old. I'm sorry, but I would definitely have to rethink sedation, at lease some benadryl.
I can't understand for a second why anybody would want to own a dog and have to go through this with the dog several times a year. I can't imagine that anybody would want to deal with that
Problem : The dog is barking and getting defiant and angry . Solution : Owner must desensetize train their dog to be handled by a groomer or a vet or bring something with the dog that distracts the dog so that the dog is not dwelling on being restrained , etc . in the process . Otherwise , this is what the groomer or the vet finds themselves working with or on or should i say against and that is an aggravated angry dog .
Been watching ur vids and you do amazing work. However, Way too many people in the same room. Dog was feeling every bodies anxiety. Babies and pet's can pick up on good and bad vibes, JS. Keep up the great work :-)
I seen where the body was already done, & was doing head, face. & were many hateful remarks by ignorant ppl. that said Dede was torturing......& blah The owners are right there & is what they want. Personally I wouldn't own a dog like this old & no have it groomed for 2yrs. At 15, the quality of life poor, should be put out of its misery!
@@terrybrewer3162 Put out of its misery? It's a living being and he's in reasonable good health for his age. There is no reason. Could there be a more inane, insensitive comment?
They should have trainee him when he was younger, owners scared of their own dog ridiculous, being like this just makes his life stressful and unhappy.
You have a good way of dealing with aggressive dogs, very much no-nonsense approach. It's wonderful to see. Also, loving the new intro, absolutely living for it
Old people need to stop buying long haired dogs. 90% of them neglect the dogs and the dogs are matted and aggressive bc they do nothing with them. No way a sedative would be more dangerous than this amount of stress. The owners need a wake up call. Really feel bad for the dog and groomer.
Good job, but the poor soul had absolutely no training. What a pity. I have miniature poodle. I self trained her. I have no experience whatsoever...... Just by reading and videos like yours....
You can also give him some rescue remedy drops. Not a prescription. That calmed my moms dog right down when we watched her for 2 weeks. She didn't seemed drugged. This dog reminds me of my moms dog.
Wowzers.....that was exhausting. The one thing I noticed was all the fur that was coming off of the dogs face should have been removed off of the table right away. That poor blind dog was panting and its tongue kept getting the fur off of the table and into its mouth. This just added to the entire situation.
Sometimes I feel the little noises u make once you’re about to work on em get them going rather than just being calm and relaxed since they go off energy and vibes and sounds! Kinda like u treat them and their reactions like kids rather than a dog.
Why don't groomers give the unruly dogs a sip of water in between body and face? Just curious. My Yorkie got so worked up the vets had to stop cutting around his face. And asked if they should give him a pill to relax him. I said no. I just wanted to hold him to calm him down. You'd think that the vets office would have knowledgeable people who could hold him and calm him. I've been grooming him since and he's extremely calm. I'm learning slot by watching videos like yours. Thanks for the tips.
Because if u give it water then they end up peeing while grooming . Dogs wouldn’t act this way if owners would take their dogs to the grooms since puppy’s & if they stop treating them like human children .
Poor baby....In my opinion, I don't believe the dog mom has a good connection with Sammy...poor dog finally gets a comforting rub from dad after 48 minutes...groomer did so great
I wish you'd answer a question I've posted on a couple of your videos. My dog has very high anxiety whenever he gets groomed and my vet gave me meds to calm him down during this time. I'm wondering why you haven't suggested this to your customers, or have you?
My daughter got a long haired cat from. Petsmart rescue. This past spring decided to have him shaved. I couldn't even get him out of crate, hissing& swatting. She took to a groomer, they couldn't either. Took to vet , gave him TRAZADONE. & shaved him. I said, u MUST brush, comb, every day, a little each time & more. each time. The hair grew back3, 4 mos. & needed be done again. I said if u brushed, try clip yourself. I gave her my cordless (don't want to advertise the brand) but are wonderful, ceramic, titanium blade & use for 2 hrs. & not get hot. Well by golly , had no problem doing him ! First time ever used clippers. My friend knows someone who adopted a lab puppy. Within 6 months the dog was nasty to people. It got very mean. He couldn't believe it was the same dog. He begged them to get help with training. Luckily they gave the dog away, and the person worked with the dog and its a normal dog again. Someone has allowing that dog to act that way.
I really enjoy your videos but this one was painful to watch. Way too much stress for the poor dog. The dog was in serious distress and you kept ongoing. The dog should have had sedation and/or the groom be done in two sessions. As a dog owner, I would never subject my dog to that kind of stress and as a groomer, I would never participate in that kind of grooming session.
Same. At this level of stress there’s no way a sedation is riskier than stressing him this much. Sometimes it’s just not worth it. He could’ve had a heart attack at any point.
You are so understanding about the reasons the dog is so scared/aggressive. You always keep the dogs well-being in mind too. Another awesome job!
Agreed! I like her
I will never understand people who tolerate being treated aggressively by their own pets!
Why would someone not neuter a highly aggressive dog?

Why does a dog become so intolerant to grooming?
Because he's not trained. It's the owners fault! All that spoiling and no discipline
