It's important to note that some (including my run cam) have glue connecting the shaft of the lens to lens mount. In order to focus the lens I had to disassemble the two boards connected by the ribbons, cut off the glue, and focus the camera via RunCam app. Also, when using the run cam app, make sure the lens is directly flat against the cam board or else your focus will be off. Thanks for the vid, mine had glue around the lens locking it in place, I had to cut the whole way around it and it still wouldn't move, I gave it the slightest bit of heat around the base on each side with a butane torch and it freed up.
Hey Jason, Just firing in a Big thanks, I had a bad slam earlier today and was worried that the blurriness I had was permanent. Did your fix and its good to go again :) Reluctant to get rid of these great little cameras as GoPro are non serviceable and I wasn't impressed with the durability of my last one.

Just crashed my camera today, thanks for showing how to take apart. However mine has glue as well like Joshua had and does not want to spin or turn at all. May give up and buy a go pro session 4
you will be pleased to know runcam have indeed seen this. I have developed the out of focus issue and if it was due to a crash there is no warranty and referred me to your video.... hmmm
Good to see that it comes apart easilly and I can replace the bats if I need to. I thought might be harder then that. Bruce from rc model reveiws tried to take it apart from the back and made a real mess of it haha.
hello jason, I just want to help you and show you something. look at my video, the mechanics of the runcam 3 actually works something different than described in your video. the notch at which you set the sharpness is a metal ring for the protection of the lens and without function for the sharpness! the sharp is set in the middle of the lens or from behind. since this is however glued is one must disassemble the cam completely. maybe it works and helps somebody with your method. also helped me a bit. thank you for your very good videos :)
shoot same crap like me.. My is OOF due from hundreds of crashes.. Thank you JG for the good video. 4 Thumbs up! P.S. 1 house later.... Shoot my lens is a fixed. My cant turn it at all. I dont see anywhere you can turn it . There is not spiral grooves on the lens. Damn GoPro timie
Crashed my also. Tried to fix the focus as described. After fixing I had an issue - the left part of picture (video) was in focus, the right is not. Had to unscrew back plate, unplug 2 ribbon cables. There I found 2 screw nails for lens mount. They were weak. I've replaced them with the same diameter (~1.8mm) screws but little bit longer. Now the lens is fixed and there is no difference in focus between left and right side.
this video helped alot, however i tighterned my lens all the way to the right, and i noticed it is still blurry in the backround, but muchhh better than previous haha wonder if i need to tighten more to right or maybe i went too far?

Hello Jason, I just bought this camera and now the run cam split is out. Did you perhaps weigh the camera without the lipo's and the case? (or can you please do it)Especially now with the split. Maybe I can mount this some how and power it up true my vtx 5volt and connect the video wire for FPV to my vtx also. I think this maybe is a option
have you seen any issues with flickering during bright cloudy days? when i power loop on a cloudy day the camera seems to not know how to expose the image and just flickers.
Marty McFly no flickering issues that I have seen.. I did however have some video I did right when I first got the camera that was jerky, turned out it was the SD card I was using.. might try that and see

Just started working on it but i wanted to mention to take out the SD-card before you push the camera out of the housing.
I didn't read through all the comments but I would not use hot glue only because of how hot the running camera gets.... No pun intended 👍
