    I have been watching some of your videos for about a year now, I havnt seen all of them but I like to see someone else with similar opinions and service procedures, real world conditions are far different than what we learned in class decades ago. There are technicians that just stick to the HVAC and some that just do commercial refrigeration, I think I migrate to watching your vids because like myself I see you working on a variety of equipment . I never know from day to day what calls I may get. I might start out working on an ice maker and the next day it may be a fryer or stove. Its great to see another brother dealing with similar repairs, although I think you might have better scenery to brows from job to job in your part of the country. I hope you continue to make more videos because when I thought I have seen it all, I can turn on one of your videos and see that you've got one up on me. Keep up the good work....cheers and beers from the midwest.

    Great job Dave! Man I always learn something. I do like dedicated vacuum hoses I think they let me pull deeper but sometimes you can't get em on. So I put a core tool on the center port and pull through a larger hose to the manifold and I can blank off with the ball valve. Seems to work well if I trust the built in micron gauge.

    I'm switching systems to R449A where possible, old R22 stuff, stuff I converted previously to R407F.
    R404A is banned here for new installs, plus you can only use recycled R404A to service older systems when the charge is over 20lbs, so you end up having to have two tanks of R404A, madness!

    • @NorCal-refrigeration

      HFC here are getting 10% price increases then another 40% in 2024 so 600$ by then. But the US will still have them. New installs or 50% equipment replacement in California R448a or R449a required.

  • @uxwbill

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  3 года назад +1

      I’m coming to the conclusion that a 4 way manifold might be the way to go. The core tools and didiling around just contaminate all the vacuuming. Who knows

      @@NorCal-refrigeration My regular manifold is an Imperial/Stride four way set. It came with a larger hose for the vacuum pump connection. It works well, but you have to be careful, or you might use your nitrogen to blow all the oil out of your vacuum pump. Not that I've ever done that. :-P

    My question about 448a/449a is do they fractionate like 410a? 404a resists fractionation like a champ. The after hours/midnight gas it up and return during the day doesn't work when they fractionate. 410a fractionates like crazy and I despise it.
