finally a video with clear explanations that any DIYer can follow. No weird background music or noises, not trying to sell anything, just a normal guy trying to help. Thank you!
Hey thank you I will be having more videos come soon next will be intake manifold gasket and ccv system, will also give pionters on replacing other things at the same time.
Thank you! This really helped me my car has been sitting for a while due to current events and bad luck, and needs new gas in the tank. I had been trying to get the spoiled gas out of the full hole with a pump, obviously it wasn’t working. I’m glad I found this no BS vid! Keep it real :)
Dude, that was very helpful. I was about to venture down the same road using the old school "hose down the filler neck." You just saved me a big headache!
I knew I could do it this way as I’ve replaced my fuel pump in the past….but I’m still glad you made this video as it helps me not feel like an idiot for not being able to siphon out the gas thru the filler 😂😅 I thought it was just me
Thank you, my problem is that the tank is full, like overflowing when I take the fuel pump out, so I wonder if by jacking up the car on the right side would help get the fuel to the other side of the car and not spill over.
What you can do first is disconnect the fuel rail up in the front underneath the engine bay I would recommend putting about two towels and just kind of like wedge them underneath underneath the fuel rail lines and then that'll catch any loose fuel from the fuel pressure that you're experiencing coming out and then you can get to the fuel tank and fuel pump assembly to finish the job and continue to siphon all the gas out
You can fit a hose in there to siphon without pulling out the assembly my recommendation is that you just pull out the assembly in order to get a hose in there but if you're good enough hey you're good enough just be really careful that you don't push down on the lever on the bottom of the fuel pump assembly
Hi Morgan. Great video with detailed instructions for removing fuel, however there are lots of videos on RUclips but they are all shown for the purposes of removing and replacing the fuel pump. You mention fuel filter/pump several times, but for the E46 330i there is only a fuel pump at this passenger side location under the rear seat. The fuel filter is completely separate and on the drivers or left side in the middle of the car behind a metal cover attached to the floor pan.
Correct! Haha after i posted i caught on .... But left it all there cause I just wanted a good video on how to siphon gas out of these European cars lol. Thank you for the msg and some info that i did not know! 😁
@@morganhaney8147 yeah, that happens to me too sometimes LOL. I replaced my fuel pump last weekend and also used a plastic cup to dump the fuel into, but let it slowly fill by crimping the fuel line with pliers. The install went well with help of your video. Went to replace the drivers side sending unit but after removing it I realized the company sent me the wrong part! However, in the 17 years of ownership my gas gauge has never really worked correctly but now it does so I am very happy. It was the level sensor on the fuel pump after all.
@@tima4207 im glad my videos was able to help you! I have been making more videos but since covid 19 has happened I can't really do much for now. If there would be anything specific you would wantva video on, just let me know and then ill make it happen!
If you locate the other end of the black hose that is attached to the tank (possibly under the hood somewhere) and disconnect it, and then turn on the car ignition, would gasoline start pumping out of the hose?
Good question, but no it would not work, at least on the modle that I have. Now I did later down the road find out that you could disconnect your fule line under the hood (Also where the fule injectors are) and could release the pressure that way, but might be more work then just popping the back seat up and having full access to the tank, and hose! It could be diffrent on other modle bmw's, but most effective and quickest method is what I like to go for. Sorry for the late response!
How you doing man? I live in Portland, shit has gotten pretty crazy out here. No offense but I kinda laughed when you mentioned T5 😂 it still gets packed out there.
It should work the same no matter what model of BMW you have because it's the access and one of the only ways to get to the top side of the fuel tank along with the opposite side being the fuel tank relay and fuse. Hope this helps you issue.
You are working too hard...disconnect the fuel line under the hood...connect a hose to your gas can...turn on your ignition (dont start it) and your fuel pump will pump the gas out for you.
@@MotogiantTL not if the pump/assembly is no good or not working. But if all was good then yes that could work to get your gas out at least until under the leveler
Send me more information on the car and I might be able to help you out wide-range BMWs to access the fuel tank is underneath the backseat so it's pretty similar the whole way around it's just what side the fuel tanks actually on and what said the relay is on but if you want help send me more information and I'll see what I can do and maybe passing information along to can help you out

so you squeezed a small hose in there to syphon without fully pulling the unit ?
You can fit a hose in there to siphon without pulling out the assembly my recommendation is that you just pull out the assembly in order to get a hose in there but if you're good enough hey you're good enough just be really careful that you don't push down on the lever on the bottom of the fuel pump assembly

Cool just like i thought. I didn't wanted to do this. But cars been sitting for almost 3 years. Half tank of gas... So frustrating
Ya sometimes time slips away, but hopefully all that is bad is the fule pump and no rust !? 😁
