    Wow. What a tedious video. To summarize: it's almost impossible, and requires a really narrow hose. The end.

      Well thief's get good at it there's one you can use with a drill, I always have 1/2 a tank plus ,in my 2008 kia van, and it was left bone dry, just follow your instinct, I always do but that night, that little voice said "don't park here" 😂 ....

      3/8" od would be better than 1/4" as long as the tube can be manipulated to pass the check ball

      Was there any issues pulling the syphon hose back out of the tank.

    Good sir!
    I tried your method and it works famously. I use the semi rigid quarter inch inside diameter poly propylene hose cut at a 45° angle going in. I had to work at it but nonetheless It worked as you described.
    I’m in gas out of a 2010 Jeep liberty which is Going to the scrap yard tomorrow.
    Thank you very much.
    Unfortunately, I cannot upload a picture to show my method

    It’s inexcusable that gas tanks don’t have a drain plug or valve on them. Ever notice you fuel pump seems to always fail with a full or nearly full tank! Trying to wrestle a full gas tank out of a modern car especially when working in your driveway on jackstands is a truly miserable experience and generally results in damage to fuel lines and wiring as well as fuel spillage. Car manufacturers are too cheap to put a simple drain plug in yet are charging you outrageous prices for a car. I don’t think anyone would complain if they charged an extra $20 for a car with a gas tank drain valve.

    • @sfcd4757
      @sfcd4757 9 месяцев назад

      Agreed but also if you are dropping your gas tank to swap a fuel pump, why wouldn't you just siphon the tank directly from underneath at the large inlet?

    • @Trump985
      @Trump985 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@sfcd4757 You often can’t get to the filler neck without partially dropping the tank or at least undoing the straps and tilting the tank . When you take the filler neck off the tank your likely to spill gas everywhere if it’s full, at that point it’s easier to just remove the full tank and then pour the gas out of it into buckets, rather then trying to siphon or pump the gas out while the tank is spilling gas everywhere and your holding it up with a jack and or your hands. Anyway a simple drain plug in the bottom of the tank would make everyone’s lives a lot easier.

    Lol and if there is a check valve that the hose won't get past??

    • @ProctorSilex
      @ProctorSilex 7 месяцев назад

      Find a place to connect a hose after the fuel pump like the test port of the fuel rail (could be pressurized). Jump the fuel pump at the relay. Point the hose into a container. Turn the key to the run position and the fuel pump should start.
      I didn't have anywhere to put a hose so took the fuel rail off and pulled the end injector.
