- In this episode of Brake Check we review the all new Ford F-250 Lariat Power Stroke 6.7 Diesel 4X4 with the new for 2020 TREMOR off road package. This is quite possibly the only off road focused truck that can tow with the big boys. But is the diesel hype really worth the premium? This is Brake Check, the RUclips show where we rate vehicles on our Hipster Scale and give insight on "Who is this car for?" As well as give our thoughts on Interior, Exterior, Powertrain and Dynamics.

I bought a 2020 F250 Tremor Lariat 6.7L 3.55 Magnetic...10.8K GVWR.
The Tremor has upgraded rear leafs (GAWR 5200 front / 6340 Rear). I tow a 14K 5th wheel (GD Reflection 337RLS)
I love this truck. It is a BEAST.
Thanks for sharing!
What’s the front end locker? Oh. There isn’t one. What’s the pay load?
Hi guys, question do you know your payload weight, can be found on drivers door pillar, I have my truck coming in May, I also pull GD Reflection 295RLS, just curious to know the payload number. thanks.in advance.
I just picked up a 24 350 Tremor, HO powerstroke... thing is a absolute MONSTER...
Got a Black blacked out 250 6.7 tremor. Tows my 30’ boat EASY!!! Took it on a sandy beach and she crawls nice!!! Stoked on it
Awesome 👏. Congrats on the rig.
Ordered a gas, to pull enclosed trailer to car cruises out of state. Diesel is awesome, but more than I needed. Great tribute video
I got the 2021 f250 tremor 7.3 and I love it looks exactly like the one you guys are driving exterior wise. 😍😍😍
Went with the 2020 7.3 Godzilla to fit my needs. I don’t do insane towing so I couldn’t justify the added expense for the diesel 😎💪🏼
I bought the 7.3 Tremor XLT so far I don't regret stepping away from the diesel. Had a 2005 6.0 Powersrroke. When test driving the Tremor the empty ride was softer than the standard F250.
The Godzilla 7.3 is our pick as well. Congrats on the purchase.
@@TexasTruckChannel FYI highway gas mileage is about 13.6 empty. I plan on pulling our camper this weekend I'll let you what it drops to. In town is 11.5 if i behave
Great vid. I got the Platinum Tremor. I was Ram for 20 years. First Ford and Ford for life. Love the Powerstroke. Much peppier than my cummins. Let the hate begin.
And i got it for Costco Runs 🤣
Right on!
Just bought the 21 tremor a couple weeks ago, (lariat ultimate, and black appearance package in the 6.7 configuration.) I haven’t got to test it’s capabilities yet, but it’s a lot more comfortable than my 2017
This diesel truck is exactly what I need to pull my 30' boat.
No question, this will get it done.
I got a 7.3 blacked out Lariat Tremor just before the WUflu . My only complaint is the mirrors drip wash water down the sides of the truck for 20 minutes after rinsing. I use my truck primarily for Surf Fishing and for beach trips I air down to 20 psi. I have a #15lb Powertank in the bed that airs up in less than 90 seconds per tire. I installed a Leitner Forged ACS to carry almost everything. I love the truck. The engine feels and sounds great when you hit the gas.
Here it is a few weeks ago.
ruclips.net/video/S5fwhsaPExg/видео.html
That is a sweet bed setup. The mirror drip is profound and has been for years on the superduty for some reason. Congrats on the Godzilla! That is our pick of the superduty engine lineup.
I was hoping for a positive review.👍 Just ordered the 2021 f350 lariot with the 6.7 diesel. 6 to 12 weeks out for delivery.
Will be towing a camper.
So true. I don’t view myself as a hipster, but I’m told by many that I am. And I believe your both right. Apple ✅, column shifter ✅, that was one of things I loved and wondered after moving from a 150 why they all don’t have it. But utility with a 250 tremor is ✅✅. Best of both worlds off roadish and towing. Amazing truck.
From one hipster to another, we will save the world with our apple car play and column shifters! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
We now have the F350 7.3 Tremor, with only 2000 miles, (2 weeks old), past were (2) 6.7 Powerstrokes. I'm very impressed so far, if we needed to tow 20,000 every day, (like in the past) i'd still go diesel, but we're only towing part-time now. One thing I did the math on last night. based on today's fuel prices i'd need to travel 310,000 miles to make up for the cost of the diesel engine option alone, (based on my MPG on my trucks) nevermind the diesel maint costs. Still a diesel fan, but the 7.3 is a great option, and what's better than the sound of a big V8
It’s good to know that someone else gets it! Thanks for chiming in.
If you're truly in the market (work, hobbies, etc.) for this type of vehicle, diesel is the way to go (IMHO). Also, can't ignore the reliability and resale value. My vote is diesel over gas!
Hey I get it! The diesel is the truckiest of truck engines. Hard to go wrong. If you tow daily/weekly it is the way to go.
With a DPF the engine will ignore reliability....
If you use the 6.7 for what it is actually built for, then yes it worth the extra money. If you get the 6.7 just for the sake of saying you have a diesel, then not worth it. An oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter change will cost you $150+.
@@dlamardeyoutoube the dpf has no effect on liability, it’s the egr recirculating soot through the engine eventually sanding down the cylinder hones.
@@jaydoucette3353 I work with machinery every day. isx6.7 D13 DD13 X15. I've seen tons of downtime due tu SCR and DPF aside from the EGR. If a truck being in a shop removing a white cake inside the system is reliable to you....i was stuck for 6 hours recently in a Peterbilt. Service DPF than 10 second later the engine shut-off. Not your old Serie 60 for sure.
Hey fellas I just bought a 2020 F2 50 XLT lariat crew cab FX four four-wheel-drive 6 1/2 foot bed and I am very happy with the power 6.7L
That’s one big truck. Love your Hipster Scale. 😂
Just got my 2021 6.7 f250 tremor with winch incredible
Great job guys! I liked how you guys really discussed many of the aspects that I am considering!
We are glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Just bought 2020 f350 tremor 🥰🥰
Happy so far?
I just ordered the 2021 f350 lariot tremor with the 6.7
Most expensive truck I ever bought. 🤞
@@chadl7742 heck ya, I love the beast. I got the 6.7 also. You will not be disappointed
Is it still driving well? I hope to live vicariously through you. I'm just a broke college student with ideas of grandeur lol.
@@renoreynolds8111 yes. It’s not broken yet
How bad is the tire noise truly over a normal f 250 tire. My dream truck would be a tremor package with normal AT tires. I hate tire noise but love the lift and front limited slip. Also will the winch fit in the diesel? I hear it will only fit the 7.3 gas.
Well... the duratracs are not the worst out there, but I would personally spend the money for something quieter like and BFG K02 or similar. That being said, Craig didn't mind them, I did. The normal XTL tire is silent. I am not sure about the winch, but I am sure the intercooler/radiator setup on the 6.7 is something that will need to be worked around. The 7.3 has a lot of room to work with up there. Thanks for watching, and commenting! -Bryan
@@TexasTruckChannel Love yalls vids but dang I cant decide. leaning towards the diesel because I can get an after market 60 gallon tank. I have never had a diesel. Seems like since DEF came along they have more issues. Why cant ford just give use a bigger gas tank for the 7.3 dang it! Yall keep doing what yall do!
Love my 2020 F-150 5.0 FX4 great ride, good power also
We love the Coyote V8 in any form. You have a great truck there , enjoy it!
Interesting stuff guys.
Thanks!
I'm gonna buy one to haul groceries. Maybe the occasional 2x4 from home depot. Probably just use it to move pallets of concrete most of the time but the groceries are the real reason.
This is a man with his priorities sorted!
Thanks for the honest review! Ordering my 2021 Tremor soon!
You bet! Good luck on the new truck. Are you going 6.7 or 7.3?
I ordered 12/16/20. Little disappointed that it could take 10-12wks
7.3L Gas engine all the way. Will replace my 6.8L V10 nicely!
While the 6.8 was not bad, the 7.3 is excellent! Enjoy the upgrade.
I have absolutely no need for this truck. I have no need for my F150 platinum. I want this, and will hopefully get one ordered with the 7.3. I live in a city too. The ride quality concerns me, but I did drive a one and yeah, it’s rough, it’s a TRUCK! Thanks for the video!
Thanks brake check, feeling better about getting the tremor package w the 7.3
Let us know what you think of it! If it were our money (and for our use) we would get the 7.3 as well.
Next year, 6.7 for towing Rv in retirement. Blue jean is beautiful. Everyone likes my 2012 F150 brown root beer float w 208k.
That metallic brown is pretty awesome! Congrats on retirement and enjoy that 6.7. It is a beast.
Too bad they discontinued blue jeans. Antimatter blue is almost black!
Waiting on my F350 Godzilla Lariat Ultimate Blacked out. Didn’t go diesel as my travel trailer is less than 10,000 lbs.
That’s awesome. Good call for your use.
The VAST majority of diesels you see driving around here in TX are purchased by men with a small "package" and trying to make up for it. Especially now with the 7.3L, most SDs on the road aren't used regularly for towing 15K+ lbs and therefore a huge overspend. That said, we live in the USA and people can buy whatever they want! #7.3LTremor #Ford
That truck is for the guy who wants to be able to go overlanding, and also pull a boat or camper. I’d put a camper shell on it and camp in the mountains, and I could crash in the back when I drive long distances pulling my boat.
It certainly is a do it all rig!
This is what it’s for!
I haven’t found a video that shows the true tremor. 2020 250 platinum tremor. Put in sand mode. Get stuck it flashes a screen and tells you what trail mode you need. Then does all the work. No hands on the wheel no pedals. She crawls out alone works the wheel more precisely than a person would
Does it really? Is that just a platinum ability or for all tremors?
Jeremy Haimes all tremors. It’s cruise control in the dirt, only platinum difference is I still have retractable running boards I think
How tall are you? I am 6'4" in. I want the sunroof but I wonder about headroom.
I’m a big fan of Ford. I’d go for the lariat black appearance package tremor! It looks so good.
It really is a great looking truck, Ford nailed the appearance on the Tremor.
That’s what I just bought in the 21 tremor 6.7. I also added the ultimate package. I love it
@@jaydoucette3353 hey Jay. Congrats! What does the ultimate package include ?
@@FlyingSparks12336 it comes with pretty much everything. Between the 3 packages I selected I have everything the platinum has aside from massaging seats, and advanced cruise control. I wanted the platinum, but chose the black appearance package (which isn’t available in the platinum) over the couple of features. The sticker price on my lariat was 82k.
Diesel. Love it.
Price? The desiel torbo package with 8 ft bed?
I have one on order f250 7.3 lariat velocity blue can’t wait to get it!
That’s awesome! We love the velocity blue. Send us a photo when you get it.
Going Friday (june 2020) to check out a 2020 F250 6.7 Tremor here in Michigan. Looking for tow vehicle for ANY travel trailer we may go to after our current one. Maybe even a small 5th wheel. But I like to have unique vehicles and love the offroad ability. Loved your vid. Thanks,
It sounds like you have made an excellent choice. We like the Power Wagon as well, but that may not fit all of your towing needs. Best of luck, and thanks for watching.
I ‘d have to disagree with your comment about diesels...after having one I have never been able to go back to a gas engine as the low end torque and initial take off is so much more powerful and quick then a gas motor.
One of the BIGGEST features of this Tremor is a rear locking diff that you did not cover lol
Oh we agree, the locking rear diff is the most beneficial tool on this truck. But we did not call that out as a Tremor highlight since the locking rear diff is optional on just about all Ford Trucks. Thanks for watching.
Ppl keep saying this, but that rear locking diffs is not exclusive to tremor, it’s on many super duties
@@jaydoucette3353 it comes standard though.
tremor also comes with two skid plates and locked rear diff
Can traverse 32" water
All 4x4 superduty trucks come with rear locking diffs. It’s the front limited slip that’s exclusive to the tremor.
Mine arrives in august - 21 F250 6.7 Tremor
Great video! I own a 2019 Ford raptor supercrew and absolutely love it. We are buying a few big boy toys and need something that hauls more than 8,000 lbs so the only thing that comes to mind is the tremor. I’m keeping the Raptor of course. How do you price and build this? I’m looking for the tremor package on ford price and build but I can’t find it.
Good call keeping the Raptor. Make sure you select the 7.3 gas or 6.7 diesel. The Tremor package is only available with those two engines. Thanks for watching!
Brake Check I picked those engines on the XLT and still can’t lol
We have the 7.3. It’s amazing! Tows our 15000lbs fifth wheel very well. Not as powerful as a diesel of course. But we can tow 65mph pretty much everywhere it’s legal. That. And I can work on it with out taking the cab off.
This is great to hear! While the diesel is incredibly capable, we do think that the 7.3 would be more than enough for most users. 15,000 is a hefty load!
Just ordered my tremor blue jean with 7.3
Blue jean is the best f series color. Congrats!
Changed plans bought a 250 non tremor blue jean
On Ford's automatic transmissions 2020 model year, both column and console shifted, the driver cannot use their open palm and push the shift lever from DRIVE into NEUTRAL in one continuous motion in an emergency to disconnect the engine from the transmission. Because there is a lock out that prevents this movement. The only way to shift it into Neutral on a column shifter is to pull back up on the shift lever to move from Drive to Neutral but risking engaging Reverse or even Park in an emergency. For console shifters, the driver has to press the lockout button on the shifter and move it from Drive into Neutral and again, there is nothing to prevent the driver to shift it accidentally into Reverse when doing this in an emergency.
This is not the case for GM, Chevy, Ram trucks as well and many autos, Honda, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Toyota...and when you do this, the transmission has a positive lockout that prevents the shift lever from going beyond Neutral and that's where the shift lever stops. So in an emergency, you can just open palm push the shift lever directly into Neutral without fear of engaging Reverse.
Folks - try this out for your self on your own vehicles if it is not a Ford. I can't believe that Ford being such a major manufacturer would make this significant mistake that would impact the safety of their customers!!!
What say you FORD?!!!
Thanks you LWRC for bringing this up. To our knowledge most modern vehicles have a reverse lockout function in the transmission to save ourselves.... from ourselves. Thanks for watching, and chiming in.
LWRC we hear you, on Fords there is a lockout from D to N, but not from N to R. This is because Ford (and most manufacturers) have an additional lockout built into the transmission itself. If you shove it into R at speed, the transmission will not go into reverse. If you are in an emergency situation and need to go from D to N you will have to pull the column shifter toward the driver, or press the lockout button on a console shifter.
Will yall please do a review on 2021 tremor 7.3 gasser!
As soon as we can we will. We did do a review of the 7.3 in XLT trim. You can check that out here...
ruclips.net/video/fcjxhCRObks/видео.html
@@TexasTruckChannel Yea it was great! Probably watched it about 100 times. No replacement for displacement. Yall have the best reviews online, next best is probably TFL Trucks.
How’s the tremors turning radius? Last super duty I was in was an 07 and it didn’t turn worth a darn! Deciding between a raptor or a gas engine tremor
That is a tough call! The turning radius feels tighter on the Raptor.
Ford has a decent truck but the price needs to be cheaper than the powerwagon otherwise they won't sell many gas tremors.
I ordered the diesel f350 tremor because I love off roading but I need to tow my 2 jeeps but having the tremor gives me the option to recover the Jeep if I break down but tow both jeeps at 5,500 lbs each and the weight of a trailer the diesel makes more sense
Given that load it make perfect sense!
The only disappointing part is 10 to 14 week build timeline
I think this could be o good overlanding vehicle.
Amen to that.
You forgot to mention the locking rear differential
Oddly enough, we did, but it did not make the final cut.
That’s not tremor exclusive.
Am I the only one who gets annoyed when non Ford people call vehicle trim levels "packages"
Agreed. Semantics, but still odd.
You add packages to the trim level. I just bought a lariat trim level with tremor package, black appearance package, and lariat ultimate package. They’re 2 different things lol
I’m in the market for a Ford F-250
Would love this exact truck with the 7.3
We would too! They seem to be less common than the diesel.
I was on the ford web site and built a 2020 f-250 tremor 7.3, nicely equiped for $55k. The 6.7 adds $11k to the price. The diesel is nice but the upkeep is too expensive.
Edit: How does it ride? Kinda rough
Me--What!!? It rides like a truck? Get the f--- out of here.
😂. Our thoughts exactly. If you tow (a lot) and daily, it starts to make sense. But not for anything less than that with a gasser that is so good.
Lol he yells need to get a power stroke, the Cummins will outlast the power stroke 2 to 1 and you can work on the dam thing.
Fair point, I guess we will see how the power stroke is going in 20 years 👍🏽
But the Dodge truck will fall apart in 3 years. Won’t own another dodge.
@@BBQBOY76 Couldnt be farther from the truth. My 14 ram 3500 looks like the day I brought it home. Many older dodge rams on the road with well over 300000 miles some close to 1 million. Any truck will start tk fall apart with that kind of mileage.
@@1smokan dream on Jeff. Some powerstrokes were bad, this one a beast. Will last, not knocking your truck but this is a great truck
Plus you have a factory option Warn winchhhhhhhhh
Good point!
Do you really reply to every comment????
Yes?
@@TexasTruckChannel ight imma sub now!
That’s what we are talking about!
It’s only an off-road package.
Wrong. Superduty's came out in 1999. Prior to that f150's came out in 1997. OBS Fords from 1980 to 1997 shared the same body's but half tons got different frame's, axles, and suspensions than 3/4 and one ton's. F450's and up used completely different frames, axles, and suspensions than the one tons. Idiots.
yougear100, Thank you for the profound comments. This proves your superior intelligence regarding the heavy duty ford trucks in the mid 90’s and shows that you actually watched and listened to our review. Thanks for your viewership!
