Thank you for putting that bike back to it's original condition. I have a soft spot for old sportbikes, my first was a "86 GSX-R750. Keep up the good videos and articles.
I've never understood why people cut the rear guard. My 1999 VFR had been butchered in a similar way. It looks rubbish to be honest so I got a used one and fitted it.
I was so lucky to find original uncut fender for only 20 dollars here in Croatia 😁 I don't see the point of cutting the fender on old bike like 900RR, they all have huge rear ends with or without fender... Edit: I see now that US models have huge license plate light... EU models are much discreet
Love the video and the unpimping of the 900rr, looks beautiful, great job! I did the same with a newer CBR, 2007, I’ve got to say looking at its original factory setting is beautiful and satisfying for having saved the bike.
Are you shitting me, you’ve had a 93 fireblade this whole time and never made a video on it besides this tutorial on how to change the fender eliminator. Love your vids dude and you already know you HAVE to make a review of this bike
A review will be coming (once it warms up here)! Until then, check out my write-up on restoring the Fireblade: jalopnik.com/heres-exactly-what-it-cost-to-rebuild-a-1993-honda-cbr9-1819487774
Practical Enthusiast I can't wait until you do a review on the 93 CBR900RR. I will most definitely be on the lookout for it. It brought back a lot of memories seeing that bike. That was the second bike I owned. My first was a 1984 Honda VF1000R Interceptor. What do you think would be chances you could find one of those?
Thanks for the great video. I'm not a purist. I like that race look with appropriately done mods not going too far. But I appreciate those who want all stock. I had a honed out 89' FZR600 in college my buddy raced at Sear's Point. After I bought it I hopped on the freeway and caught up to a late 80s Ninja 600 and a 900RR who were cruising together. Never seen a 900 before. Gorgeous bike. I dropped a couple gears and took off to tempt them. Never saw the Ninja again. The 900?? He rolled right up on me quick and at 100mph, he took off like I was standing still. That blew my mind. Never seen anything like that. The 900 has always been in the back of my head. This is definitely my next bike to enjoy riding and wrench on.
the late 80s and early 90s was the first golden age for sport bikes. I believe were possibly living the the second golden age with all this new tech being implemented and the 'gentleman's agreement' basically being tossed out. but that era of sport bikes have so much soul. cool designs, colors and graphics. I would love to own an early 90s GSXR some day
Got a second hand uncut rear fender for my vfr400 nc30 along side with genuine european spec mirrors and same STANLEY blinkers as the ones from your cbr. It is a real trouble to find these second hand parts for these bikes and it can cost a fortune!
Nice job PE!! Well done. I'm with you... I was fortunate enough to fine a unicorn! A 98 VTR1000 Super Hawk. All original and unmolested. Original everything with only 5200 miles . Picked it up from an older retirement engineer who hardly ever rode it.. Like your double RR, the VTR is in beautiful condition and I plan on leaving it original. Thanks for posting!! Oh... And BTW... Nice Ducati! 😁
I bought a purple ‘94 like yours a couple of weeks ago. Mostly stock and in very nice condition, but not so nice that I’m worried about putting miles on it. Love the videos!
this is exactly what I do every time I buy a used bike. I remove every aftermarket mod and throw it directly in the garbage because it's almost always not worth the trouble to sell. I always start out with a perfectly mint stock bike and any mod that I do do, is usually an OEM upgrade/retrofit from another model by the same manufacture. ie. I put an H2 slipper clutch on my current Kawasaki Z1000, and shock, forks and calipers from a European spec Z1000R (which we never got in the states)
I shot some silicone spray in the in between the two panels to help the tabs unlock. Applying heat to the area (think hair dryer) will certainly help the plastic flex a bit more. You slowly rotate the side panels upward to free them from the tail light surround tabs. In the end, you may still end up cracking the tabs on the tail light surround. It's all just very fragile plastic.
I want to do the same with my 1992 900cbr rr since almost a year but I can't find an uncut rear fender (the only missing part to get the bike to its original condition). What is the reference of the part you've found and was the search difficult ? Thanks for the video.
The fender's part number is 80100-MW0-000 but as far as I can tell, nowhere has it in stock. Unfortunately, you are at the mercy of what comes up for sale second-hand on sites like eBay. Thanks for watching!
@@PracticalEnthusiast Finaly I managed to get one from eBay and now it is on my bike, thanks again. My new problem is to find a glossy paint (high temperature) for the exhaust.
You probably got the (2) best colors of the 900RRs in my opinion -- back in the 90s when they first came out I remember going to the dealership in awe of these bikes . The sales reps treated me as if I wasn't gonna buy not to touch or get too close -- pathetic actually now that I think about it. Every guy l knew that had one crashed it cuz of the power to weight ratio.
Hey if there is any chance I could get advice for putting in a 919 engine into a 93 cbr900rr. It'd not what I wanted to do buy unfortunately the shop couldn't get my original motor fixed and so they rebuilt a 919 motor for me.
Are you talking a CBR900RR 919 engine? If so, that will mount up fine but there will be a couple of electrical challenges to overcome since the 919 CBR engine has a throttle position switch. You'll need the wiring harness and CDI from the 919. Coolant hoses are a little different too between the two as well. Definitely doable, but not exactly a direct swap.
@@PracticalEnthusiastyes it is a 900r 919 engine. so I need the wiring harness from a 1996-99 and CDI. Will I need a new radiator or do they make adaptors for the hoses. And will the dash and lights hookup to the new harness with out modification? The body is still a 93 900rr.
Popular opinion or not, I always cringe at the butcher jobs done on beautiful bikes. I've had to un-butcher an number of them myself. The saddest part is that this aberration is still popular today. Good job (even if it was 3 1/2 years ago).
Not weird at all.. I much prefer OE factory look.. I’m after an original undamaged exhaust silencer for my ‘99 SC33.. Hard to find one that isn’t commanding silly money!
Yeah you are weird. Since "that's how the factory wanted it and makes it collectable", now it's time to get rid of that Two Brothers exhaust and find an original on eBay. 🙄

original fenders work, but they don't look good for sure

this is what we are waiting for. thanks for making this video. I hope you get more subs and views. your videos are awesome mate 😁
Thank you! I'll do my best to keep them coming.
Wow to do a repair and film at the same time ! Much respect !
Awesome video man, doing a clean job and especially cleaning things takes a lot of time but the end result is always the best and most satisfactory
Much better seen many of friends take a hacksaw to them back in the day!!
Had my bike 18 years still contemplating an end can 🙃
Your right buddy..... Keep it original, better for they're value too
Looks great... Keep up the good work...
A proper CBR 900RR! Stock is best! Maybe an aftermarket exhaust to change up the sound, but that's about it! Thank you for sharing!
Agreed!

Nice! I have the red/white/black version of the 1994. Also all original except with the stock exhaust. Love those bikes! Great video.

Where is a good spot to find period correct tasteful mods for the 1994 Honda CBR900RR?
Hey i have a 93 cbr900rr the shop is having issues with the camshaft baring. It wont fit appearently. The ordered it from honda to.
greetings from the uk...
i have a '92 cbr250rr and one day i would love to own one of these 900s :)
keep up the good vids
Thanks for posting man. I like things stock as well. If you do a proper tail tidy fine, but man some of the butchery that goes on...
Great work Pete!!
Can you do a used bike review on 06-08 Yamaha R1's? I enjoyed this and your zx10r video
Look so much better than the new ones 💯
Great video!
I’m about to start the same project, is there a trick to remove the side panel plastics from the tabs on the tail light surround plastic?

Man I want that bike. Great video
How does the honda rr compare to the gsxr 750 you have

Very good video bro
Very nice video, I'm in the process of doing the same thing on a 954.
i have the oem solo seat cover for that bike in mint con...and a oem mint full exhust...
Where did you get the cowl?
I need the same fender for a 93 if anyone has any info..
How much do you want for the 93?
Nice bikes

had 2 give u a TD i was wanting to see some major work as your title leads on
Youre lucky Ive been looking for an OEM rear fender for years for my 94!
Could you review that 300zx ? :)
Sure, good idea! Might not be until Spring here though (a couple of months).
Now that you are done, you should cut off the mudflap from the end of the rear fender..
Not weird at all.. I much prefer OE factory look.. I’m after an original undamaged exhaust silencer for my ‘99 SC33.. Hard to find one that isn’t commanding silly money!
everybody sells these things on ebay, you gotta be the only person out there trying to buy em!
If you see any uncut fenders for sale for the first-gen CBR900RR, send me a message! I'll buy it.
Nice bikes ya got there. 👍
I love the cbr 900
I used to own one identical to your black one.
very nice!
More bike reviews please
It's winter here right now, but in the Spring I plan to do some more. Thanks for watching!
You mean, How to UNRETARD a classic Honda...
Good job!
Y the camera shaking
Great bikes!!!!
I like my bikes bone stock as well.
Older bikes look terrible with aftermarket tail tidies.
I wish i had one
They came with those ugly ass fenders because they had to by law. Getting rid of that was always my first mod.
sell me you extra turn signals mine were missing
Please get a tripod, dude. I can't watch the hole shaky video. Very annoying. Otherwise....interesting content.
Your definitely a purist lol nice bikes
Difficult? Ha. Talk about FZ's or FZRs
Tadao baba will by proud
Yeah you are weird. Since "that's how the factory wanted it and makes it collectable", now it's time to get rid of that Two Brothers exhaust and find an original on eBay. 🙄
