Definitely my era of bikes. Still love how wide they are, the analog clocks, great big fcuk off exhausts and the paint designs. Would take these over any new machine. All time fave is the RC51 VTR SP2. Kinda lost interest in watching WSBK when they moved on to litre bikes, to my a 750 will always be the superbike
This is probably one of the best reviews I have watched. I own a 03 zx7r and absolutely fell in love. I remember watching the races and for the most part did remarkable. Plenty of power and I can out run any newer stock 600 or gsxr 750 in the curves. I actually hit a cat in the middle of a heavy curve and when most bikes would have hit the ground, all I experienced was a little bit of the death wobbles. It recovered very well and very fast. This bike will be with me till I can't ride any more.
Mike Pritch you know! i have a 99 and likewise will never let it go, its absolute perfection as far as im concerned, just the right amount of everything! fuel light would be nice but thats the only downside to it :)
Mike Pritch hi I have the seem thought as you I have also a zx7r 1996 and it is a great bike im almost reached 65 and i stil ride it Im riding bikes from my 18 birthday till now have a nice day
He doesn't do it justice I did 150 mph going around curves on 750 ninjas with well worn tires. No steering damper my elbows were touching my knees that's the steering damper I used
Today it is still one of the most beautiful looking sport bikes. I am 6ft 4 and rode one for years. Because its front end weight it may not do wheelies ( im not a squid) but it is incredibly stable in corners. This is the most important trait in sport bikes. Confidence inspiring like no other sport bike i have ridden. I put a 4 degree ignition advancer on it ,Muzzy full exhaust and a proper re jet job. Perfect! My friend was lucky to find light weight magnesium wheels and that was an incredible upgrade. In real world applications this is a fantastic bike and i miss mine very much. Ask anybody who knows, this goes through corners like its on rails.
I Just crashed my 96, probably for the best. Finally had a good excuse to tear it completely apart and rebuild it. Only a few weeks till she’s done and we are reunited once again 😌
My ‘96 GSX-R 750 had a huge trunk. I used to keep a baseball cap in there and still had room for two VHS movies from Blockbuster. The toolkit also still fit along with the registration and a microfiber towel.
It is interesting to compare this zx7 with the 996! Two super bikes from 90s so different from each other in all aspects! The Kawa still with a bulky apearence original from the late 80s/early 90s and the Ducati with a slick and light look! Anyway the Kawa looks like new although I prefer the previous green model, with the ram air pipes through the gas tank like the Honda RVF 400/750, and rounded headlights like the first Firblade or Yzf750 genesis! Great job guys, it is a joy to watch your videos over and over again!
The mighty ZX-7R, one of my favorite bikes of all time! I only sold my one earlier this year to make way for my 2015 ZX-10R. The 7 has made me a huge fan of Kawasaki for life, I had it for 5 years out of my almost 7 year riding career. It was my first real bike (here in Australia we need to have a learner bike for a year before getting your unrestricted license). I had the suspension professionally setup for my weight and more aggressive riding which resulted in the bike just happily tipping into corners although if you threw it in you really needed to catch it! Once you had it in a corner it had more stability than anything else I have ever experienced. You could hit a pot hole or big tree roots mid corner at decent lean and she just ate it all up. Watching this video really made me miss the bike, she was so good to me. P.S. the black and silver was the best colour scheme for these :P On another note please keep up the good work, I have been really enjoying your videos. Professionally done, good information, nice shots and no dribbling on about irrelevant information or showing off for the camera.
Many thanks for showing one of my favourite bikes, I know mine still goes like the wind and can turn heads. simple to work on, cheap as chips and good fun!
I love the sportbikes of yesteryear. It is easy to forget about all the good ones with the current pace of technological advancement with modern motorcycles. Before I bought my new R6 two years ago, I nearly bought a 2003 7'er same color and somehow had only acquired 700 miles. For $4k I think it wouldve been a good buy. Now I cant say I ever regret not buying it, as a 3rd gen R6 is a tough bike to beat. There is something to be said about the older bikes with their softer suspension, lower and more relaxed seating positions, heavier weight, more streetable powerbands and I do feel the build quality was also better. I recently contemplated getting rid of the R6 for a 1992 GSXR1100 in mint condition, I think it'd be fun to ride something you just dont see everyday here in Mobile, AL.
This was an AWESOME review on my Favorite bike of all time. I've actually swapped '07 zx10r fork tubes & front wheel, EBC XC Contour front rotors (310mm) & '09 zx10r front calipers along with a custom billet triple tree (zx7r head tube bearings & zx10r 50mm fork tube openings, instead of a bearing & race swap to use the stock zx10r triples) and an '05 zx10r swing arm & rear caliper and bracket with an '07 zx10r rear wheel. The zx10r suspension & wheels shaved about 36 lbs off my bike, which makes for an even More nimble & very stable zx7r in the corners. It's not as light as my '08 zx6r and you can tell, but it Is just as flick-able in the corners as my zx6r and it has better braking with 10mm bigger rotors up front.
Cool reviews dude. 1992-1995 CBR 900RR Fireblade would be awesome - it's the craziest 90's machine imo. I love that 90's techno white-red-purple scheme. And the holes in the fairings ;)
Another solid review! I do remember the '90s and the RR version of this bike in the hands of Scott Russell, Anthony Gobert, Doug Chandler and later Eric Bostrom won several races and titles. Yours was a thorough evaluation of a classic Superbike design. Keep up the great work, guys! I've been a subscriber since your first review!
I recently took delivery of a near-mint condition 2000 ZX-9R. It's an absolute blast. I'm an average rider but it's remarkable how stable the bike is at 90+ mph. The brakes and lack of fuel gauges will keep you on your toes, but it's perfect for back-country rides. Hard to believe these machines can be purchased for under $5k. Great value and tons of character....
Yep.. they are heavy and slow compared to what's out there today. But who cares, still one of the best lookling motorcycles ever built. I have a 1997 7r that I've owned for over 20 years and it still puts a smile on my face every time I ride it. You cant beat the sound of the thing at 13000 rpm! Will never sell it. This bike come from a time when you exactly what make and model a bike was at a glance. Fireblades, Gixxers, Ninjas and R1s were the greatest era of bike development. Today Modern bikes are just ugly and soulless. Maybe I'm getting older... each to there own. There is a reasurgence in older Japanese bikes for good reason. They have way more than enough power for any person, you can work on them with spanners and they just look so fucking cool. Bring back the 90,S !! Cheers Lance NZ.
another superb review, i was to buy a brand new S1000RR, but watched your ZX10R review, and decided to buy an 06 ZX10R, and save the money. Thanks for the awesome work
Obie Wan second gen zx10 is an awesome bike and is no slowpoke at all. I just don't want to adjust valves every 6k miles, that's why I think I'm getting a Honda. Even though the previous gen R1 is a badass.... I can't make up my mind..... 🙃
may I say that your work is professional, with simplicity but yet a comfortable way to Imagen going back in time and enjoy the ride with like ones was there riding this bikes. thank you for every single one of the reviews, keep it up ,be safe and God bless! hope one day you can make one about the 2005-2006 cbr600rr, I just bought one and is my first bike ever. I love it, but I'm interested of what would be an objective review from other riders.
I had an orange 2003 ZX7R (which I regrettably sold). I looked very small on it, being 5'7, but the bike, to me, is as comfortable as my 2001 ZX6R and better than my 2001 R1 (lowered), at the time. Cornering was better than all my other bikes. It gets hot on the legs on the summer but very nice on the winter. I rode it for 650 miles (from Jax FL to Norfolk VA) with no problem since the seat was very comfortable.
I never should have let my yellow 03 go. Man I miss her. Thanks for the review. She's a bigger girl but she's beautiful and sings like a banshee off to war when zipping along.
the support bars behind the wind screen worked good when you got up to stand on the gas tank (for people that did that kind of thing). i remember later when they designed better wind screen supports i had to grab the top corner of the wind screen to get up on the tank. The mirrors also got in the way if you sat on the tank with your legs over the wind screen riding wheelies. Not just the Kawasaki that went for all those old bikes.
These reviews are getting so much better (production wise). I love them. If you ever find a GS500e you should do it! Fun but slow little naked bikes. :)
I miss this bike. I bought one last year off Craigslist with 13000miles and rode it another hard 4 with nothing other than new tires. This bike was dead reliable,I miss it and I want another.
Brilliant review 👍 Everything good and bad about the bike (Zx7r owner for 4 years) Absolutely love my 1996 model, it's got everything I need from a bike.
I own both the Ducati 996 and the Kawasaki ZX7R, and i can honestly say that every single thing you said about both bikes are exactly spot on!! Great reviews, keep it up!
I had the same wobbly brake lever, it has an easy adjuster on it, if it still has too much play then it means either the brake pads need replacing or the fluid needs a top up. Once that is done the lever is fine.
I dont care what this guy says i have one (candy red) and its always fun to ride plus it always turns heads. Ok its twichy but thats what makes you the driver knowing it by riding it. Drivers know what i mean. Newbiea dont understand it the just pull back on the throttle and sees who wins. Come on guys enjoy the ride
👍 👍Great bikes! Had a few Ninjas in 90s. I was fortunate to have bought a new 93 ZX7 in the beautiful Candywine red & black. Loved that bike and kept it for 11 years. Regretfully sold it in 04 for the new R1 and still wish I kept it. Still have the Sportrider magazine testing it to this day and the issue that really made me fall in love with it.
I've got a P1 96 model and have had it on the track a few times and not to many modern bike have beaten me granted the have a faster top speed but cornering I can get most of them which I take great satisfaction from
Nice review but don’t forget these bikes well the rr versions were leading wsbk back in the day and were one of the fastest and most stable 750s around. They are still ultra sexy too. Im definitely keeping mine until it reaches classic status and the price shoots up 👍👍👍
I remember this bike was wide with a very stiff chassis and strong brakes. Also that it was difficult to lean and then when accelerating it tended to stay straight up.
Fantastic channel with excellent production value and quality content. Please keep the reviews going, interesting and free of useless talk. Love it! The channel will grow, keep it going!
Keep it uuuuup!!! Never get tired of these older bikes reviews!!! :D BTW...I know you already tested the CBR1000RR, but is there a chance to do a review of one of the original Fireblades? From the first generation until the last "pre-1000", the 954RR... Also the CBR600F...from the 90's till the last F4's... Thank you VERY MUCH for these videos, it's both a blast and a pleasure to watch, also great to see that the bikes tested are in great shape as well! #ThumbsUp
he said "it isn't worth getting a neglected one to restore" funny, got mine for $200 and have spent a total of $800 including paint and getting ready to spray it now, has allot of work already done to it, 92 lower end, 98 top end on a 95 frame and plastics, some good brake pads, changed sprockets -1 +3 and leave gsxr 1000 all the way to 150 when I hit Trans and gearing top speed.
Yea, they're a bit old school and no they don't match the refinement of newer bikes but you really have to be what my brother and I refer to as a "soul rider" to appreciate and enjoy this bike. It's for sure not for the weenies who want all the electronic gizmos to do half the work for them. Then again, I prefer a manual transmission with a real clutch pedal in a car. So I'm most likely some kind of old school throw-back and maybe even the evolutionary missing link that science has been looking for. Regardless, this is also not a bike for a newbie: 1) 122 hp @ 11,500 rpm and actual redline well above that 2) 57.5 ft. lbs of torque @ 9300 rpm 3) Top speed of 150-163 mph 4) Instant wheelie machine whether you intended to or not All combines to induce a serious pucker factor and get you in trouble if you don't pay attention. On the other hand, if you really know how to ride, these things are a blast and will leave you smiling at the end of each ride.
Nice video, remembering the good old days ! My first bike was a 1986 Honda VFR500, it was a little temperamental, but got alot of compliments on it ! What kind of bike do you ride ?
Funny that you mention the first generation R1. Sadly, I had one before we started making review videos. Maybe another one will come along though! You might enjoy the series of articles I wrote when I rebuilt the transmission on that bike: oppositelock.kinja.com/education-on-a-budget-300-yamaha-r1-1720989414
Hard to believe that that bike is already 18 years old! I remember when it set the sportbiking world on its ear like only the 916 and '93 CBR900RR before it! Anyway, that classic Yamaha may be a worthy subject of one of your vids.
Greetings from Portugal! Thanks for this practical and honest review. Maybe you could tell me if this bike has fork spring preload adjust, rebound damping and compression damping as well fork position? And the same goes as well for the shock absorber (spring preload adjust, rebound damping and compression damping)? Thanks.
The brass bush in the brake lever wear out quickly on these specially if not regularly greased, I put a new genuine lever on mine and it was much better, still had very slight play though, mine also seems very sluggish when pulling off but goes fine over 2000rpm, maybe it's just the these bikes are jetted, great review 👍
One thing that would need more emphasis is the character of the engine. indeed it s not the most potent, but i find it so pleasant in the way it delivers power and torque. and on top of that, it s extremely robust if treated right.
What a beautiful bike. I wish Kawasaki made a reboot version with the latest tech and maintaining the looks. They will sell as 1000cc class are already crowded and boring.
What a gorgeous bike, in a very Japanese way. Looks pure Superbike classy, and how Trick is that upper clamp?? I'm looking for one now, but I just grabbed an RC51. But soon I'll add one to my garage... Great video.
You forgot to show the "Kawasaki Heavy Industry" plate on the frame! Nice video though. I had a zx7r, I think it was the '98 model. Beautiful, very fun bike.
Spot on review, uncomfortable and not that quick, if you want power wheelies not the bike for you, handles great and looks great, had a couple of these in my younger days.
I own a 2000 zx-7r I love that bike, it is now my track bike not the fastest bike out there but still very fun. My new ride is a 2015 BMW s1ooorr much faster. Still love the old green machine.
I don't know how much time i seen this review.. i just got a '97 for 100$, that have not moved for 11 years, and is almost ready to go on the road agian! i just have front forks to rebuild, and put new tires. started at first try! i want to use it as a second bike for tourer purpose.. but i'm really starting to fear that is gonna replace my zx6r '03 (636) on a daily basis. for sure gonna subrscribe (:
"You can get into one of these for around 3 thousand dollars" I guess it's just cos it's 5 years later and in New Zealand, but we're looking at 12,000NZD for one in pretty much the same condition as the one in the video. I wish we had the USA prices.
They've skyrocketed in the US as well. I had to give this bike away on eBay for $3800 USD. Nobody wanted it and I didn't have space to keep it. Wish I had!
The sound of the ram air howling in those huge intakes was the best thing about mine
Nothing will beat the Ducatis from back then but this is the next best thing.
the wife's gone but i still have my baby a 99 zx7 in green of course
Now your living!!!
I bought a 2001Kawasaki zx7 after my divorce don't miss my x wife at all
@@clarknawrocki3851 mine went too 😀, pick my zx7 up on Saturday, like a kid at Christmas can't wait
You got the better part of that trade, my friend 🤛
You don’t have to ask her for a ride
While you have to ask your wife for …
One of the ultimate all-time Bad Ass Bikes....wicked styling
This is probably one of the best reviews I have watched. I own a 03 zx7r and absolutely fell in love. I remember watching the races and for the most part did remarkable. Man you got that right, I ran out of gas and few times when I first got it trying to figure out the milage lol.
Mike Pritch hi did your bike not have a reserve on your fuel tank ?
Mike Pritch hi I have the seem thought as you I have also a zx7r 1996 and it is a great bike im almost reached 65 and i stil ride it
Im riding bikes from my 18 birthday till now have a nice day
Really nice. I hope i will buy one soon. Love the Zx7r. Its nice to see comment like this.
Cheers Mike.
Now THIS is what a review should be!
Actual information, not just fancy video shots.
He doesn't do it justice I did 150 mph going around curves on 750 ninjas with well worn tires. No steering damper my elbows were touching my knees that's the steering damper I used
My kind of iron horse, ‘02 zx7r ninja Kawasaki here we gooo … 🤙🤙🤙
I hate that theres music in the background of this. All you need is the noise of the engine in the background
Today it is still one of the most beautiful looking sport bikes. I am 6ft 4 and rode one for years. You sir have an excellent taste in bikes. This brings back the goshow days
My ‘96 GSX-R 750 had a huge trunk.
I used to keep a baseball cap in there and still had room for two VHS movies from Blockbuster.
The toolkit also still fit along with the registration and a microfiber towel.

Now here's a man with good taste!
Still my opinion of best looking sport bike ever. Not much power but very stable.
I have an 02 7r and absolutely love it. Michelin pilot tires, yosh RS3 2nd owner wicked clean
Many thanks for showing one of my favourite bikes, I know mine still goes like the wind and can turn heads. simple to work on, cheap as chips and good fun!

I had one of these!!!!I loved how stable the front was
I miss her soooo much lol
How did it ride
Peter...you are a legend!
Hands down the best motorcycle channel on RUclips
Thank you for all your efforts
Much appreciated
Thank you for your support!
I had an orange 2003 ZX7R (which I regrettably sold). I looked very small on it, being 5'7, but the bike, to me, is as comfortable as my 2001 ZX6R and better than my 2001 R1 (lowered), at the time. Nice touch with the Tron legacy music. I did end up painting the whole bike white and it looked great. I am such a nerd. Thanks again.
This series is really enjoyable for us younger viewers (I'm 22)
I never should have let my yellow 03 go. Man I miss her. Thanks for the review. She's a bigger girl but she's beautiful and sings like a banshee off to war when zipping along.
Would love to see a review of the honda RC51! Great videos!

My first bike. Great slow bike to ride super fast!
I used to commute to work on one for nearly 2 years, and even though I treat it like shit it just kept on running.
I miss this bike. I bought one last year off Craigslist with 13000miles and rode it another hard 4 with nothing other than new tires. This bike was dead reliable,I miss it and I want another.
Brilliant review 👍
Everything good and bad about the bike (Zx7r owner for 4 years)
Absolutely love my 1996 model, it's got everything I need from a bike.

THESE 90s EARLY 2000 BIKES ARE A WORK OF ART 👌🏼🔥😍🏆👌🏼
I know right
Great review! Plz do a 1st gen CBR900RR if you can get your hands on one!
Im definitely keeping mine until it reaches classic status and the price shoots up 👍👍👍
Really nice review! Love the ZX7R. Thanks for sharing!
WTF with RUclips. It suggested this video to me after three years? Damn this is a great channel
Just wanted to drop a comment and let you know that I loved your videos, and hope that you go back to making more soon!
Beautiful review of an awesome bike!
It would be sweet to see you review a gen 1 Vmax and ZRX1200
I have an 03 zrx1200, amazing bikes they can do it all!
THAT BIKE IS A WORK OF ART 100% 😍
Yea, they're a bit old school and no they don't match the refinement of newer bikes but you really have to be what my brother and I refer to as a "soul rider" to appreciate and enjoy this bike. It's for sure not for the weenies who want all the electronic gizmos to do half the work for them. Then again, I prefer a manual transmission with a real clutch pedal in a car. So I'm most likely some kind of old school throw-back and maybe even the evolutionary missing link that science has been looking for.
Regardless, this is also not a bike for a newbie:
1) 122 hp @ 11,500 rpm and actual redline well above that
2) 57.5 ft. lbs of torque @ 9300 rpm
3) Top speed of 150-163 mph
4) Instant wheelie machine whether you intended to or not
All combines to induce a serious pucker factor and get you in trouble if you don't pay attention. On the other hand, if you really know how to ride, these things are a blast and will leave you smiling at the end of each ride.
Golden era love 90s bikes ...dont change most of this new bikes for one like that for sure ...
Nice video, remembering the good old days ! My first bike was a 1986 Honda VFR500, it was a little temperamental, but got alot of compliments on it ! What kind of bike do you ride ?
very cool reviews. love your videos man.
So when might we see a review on the original '98 R1?And yeah, the Blackbird is a good choice, too. Cheers!
I have the opportunity to buy one as my first bike should I get it to practice on?
Can you do a review of Cagiva Mito 125 first version which came in 1990?
We would love to, but those are hard to come by here in the USA. If one comes along, then definitely!
One thing that would need more emphasis is the character of the engine. indeed it s not the most potent, but i find it so pleasant in the way it delivers power and torque. and on top of that, it s extremely robust if treated right.
Great video. What's the song used at the start of the video?
What a beautiful bike. I wish Kawasaki made a reboot version with the latest tech and maintaining the looks. They will sell as 1000cc class are already crowded and boring.
Love the common issues break down, another great review.
I had one. thanks for the memories.
The issues you mentioned do they apply to the 98 models.. im looking at one so that i can have a bike to ride while i get my zx12r to my liking
Yep, same things to look out for on the '98 as well.
Hate to ask,, do you know who owns this bike and would like to sell it? Looking for ZX7. Please let us know. Thank you.
gonna sell my cbr600rr from 2007 for a zx7r from 2000, i just love how it works and looks
Sean Van Vaerenbergh hope you like torque and a comfortable ride:)
As soon as I got divorced I got my rocket back. I hadn't even thought of asking her back yet!
Spot on review, uncomfortable and not that quick, if you want power wheelies not the bike for you, handles great and looks great, had a couple of these in my younger days.
grt review very well done ... I want to buy a zx7r very soon
I own a 2000 zx-7r I love that bike, it is now my track bike not the fastest bike out there but still very fun. My new ride is a 2015 BMW s1ooorr much faster. Still love the old green machine.
zx12r please?
What's awesome about this video is seeing him behind a Lexus LS400!
That's actually my LS400 being driven by the camera man. I've since sold the car and regret it!
@@PracticalEnthusiast I have a 1997 Lexus LS400. Love it! Hard to get rid of it. You gotta get another one!
got a 2001 zx6r love the bike great fun
What model is that yellow bike in the background?
It's a 2001 Ducati 996 Biposto
I don't know how much time i seen this review.. i just got a '97 for 100$, that have not moved for 11 years, and is almost ready to go on the road agian! i just have front forks to rebuild, and put new tires. started at first try!
i want to use it as a second bike for tourer purpose.. but i'm really starting to fear that is gonna replace my zx6r '03 (636) on a daily basis.
for sure gonna subrscribe (:
You should find a zx-1100 to do a review on. It was the super bike of its time.
Great video
That's one clean bike Love the 7r
Awsome video review!
Nothing says 90’s AMA superbike like a Muzzy ZX7R and Robs big mustache
Great review!
Had a green 96 7R. God I miss that thing! Sexy beast!! Currently looking for another one. Wish me luck...
Nice video! How tall are you?
Thanks! 5' 11"
Still Gorgeous !
It sounds like it's not running right (from what I can hear under the music)
somebody knows where I can buy an engine for this bike, mine is dead.
H2 750, Z1 900, and the ZX7, I dont need any other bikes.
Wish I had!
Why the hell people put music in the background when doing reviews?
(fewer owners, not less)
The brakes need fluid changed, and the carbs need to be cleaned.
Hypnotic, contagiant soundtrack
A mate had 1 back in the day, it out handled all of our bikes on corners..
