Cuckoo's is the only birds that I hate the most.
it's not a cuckoo bird.. in my local language we call it mouka.. I see this birds often it's famous for killing the young birds .

For those who don't know, the cuckoo is a savage even from the time it hatches; the mother cuckoo lays her egg in the nest of another similar looking bird. When it hatches, it kills the other nestlings by kicking them out of the nest leaving only the cuckoo to be taken care of by another bird; the cruelty of nature....

What's worse is that the Cuckoo mother keeps tabs on the nest it layed it's imposter egg into, and if the Owner(s) of the nest push out the Cuckoo egg, or kill the Cuckoo chick, the Cuckoo mother will destroy the eggs/kill the other chicks, needless to say, this might've been a case of "You know the rules; and so do I, SAY GOODBYE."

Same thing with me! I never knew birds ate other birds and stuff like that! These videos have been very eye-opening. I always imagined birds to be docile creatures that eat worms and bugs and berries. Never knew they were carnivorous to the extent that they seem to be.

What is the survival rating on pair bonded birds? Do they raise fewer chicks and invest in only one or two children instead of like five. Good questions. Like the corvid family comes to mind for couples child rearing birds.

This is very very true, and I don't mean from a single mother stand point, but from a overall survival statistic of species. The female is normal the stronger one in the animal kingdom because it's meant to raise the young on its own, but when the father is supposed to help raise the young and they mate for life the species will flourish. Of course in human culture a human child can still flourish with only one parent, although not ideal it still can.

It is actually a Coucal. It shares the same family with the cuckoo, that is why they look similar except for the redddish color on the wings. The biggest difference is that the coucal parents would raise the chicks on their own unlike the cuckoos which would put their eggs on the nests of other birds.

Birds ARE the predators. And not always on other birds - look up pelicans and herons for reference. This is basically what has had become of dinosaurs.
Also rabbits and deer are predated on by almost all other animals
This bird is called a greater coucal, and while it technically is a member of the cuckoo order of birds, this type is non-parasitic meaning it doesn't lay eggs within another nest in standard cuckoo fashion.
This can not really be called a cuckoo.

Even by third workd country standards my dad who had it very rough in mexico was left to die by his friends as a kid when his skull cracked. Baby birds have to be really lucky to survive while in nest, I’m guessing.
Many baby birds don't make it in the wild, that's why in some cases birds lay several eggs, sometimes 5 or 6.

@@eightinches6094 Some songbirds will even lay up to 10 eggs! Saw a nest of bluebirds with 10 eggs, 9 chicks and I think 7 of them fledged. Still pretty impressive that the parents were able to raise even 7 of them.
