its shit, not a nutrition. i mean they think they have it, but probably just self educated. banana + milk is one of the worst mix ever as it can cause numerous problems to your digestion system. eat bananas and drink milk separately at least 30 mins between. also muesli and granola is full of sugars. eat them only when in race as it is good source of energy, but not every day please. and eating shit like lasagna for athlete ? at least do not show it for the whole internet.

My favorite part is that his train leaves in 15 minutes and he still has time to shower and catch it on time....I'm just here in the USA with a 62 mile (each way) commute to and from work because of housing costs. Takes 1 hr 15 minutes to get to my job each day.

It may not be right for you but, if you're able, I can highly recommend moving or going remote and putting that 75 min x 260 days or 13.5 days each year of
commuting time back in your life.

    • @meagangriffin5155

@@nathanmclain9027 I would really love to do that, but unfortunately I work in a field that can never be remote and the Washington DC area is so expensive that you pay more than half your salary in a mortage for a crappy house or you live an hour away :/

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. 15-20 minutes and he hadn't even showered yet, brushed his teeth or gotten dressed. The train station must be literally across the road from his house as he didn't seem panicked at all about making it on time.
As a distance runner, I thought I didn't eat that much but after seeing how much (rather, little) he eats, I think I'm relatively on par. But I guess it's the types of food, with carbs being essential along with protein.

I work full time and am a father of two. I train six days a week. I am also boring and eat poached eggs on toast every morning and an avocado salad sandwich every lunchtime. I rely on nature valley bars for a pick me up if I need it. In the evening I eat whatever my wife or I has cooked. Toasted bagel with a hot drink for supper or maybe a little ice cream.

I start my day pretty early about 5 or 5:30. I get up and make warm water with ACV and lemon. I wake up the kids at 6 and get them to school by 6:50 I am either at the gym or out for a run, generally a 4-5 mile one. I am at work between 8:15 and 8:45. What helps me is preparing things the night before. My work schedule can be demanding but if I am home by 20:00h I will make a few things ahead of time. So generally I make a green smoothy the night before. It will last in the fridge 2-3 days and I make enough for 3 days. I take with me for after my run. I always have granola and plain yogurt or a banana. For lunch I like having soup and bread. I always carry a snacks: raw almonds, cashews and dried fruit. I bring with me to work. For dinner: egg, avocado, cheese and bread is a go to dinner. Soups are a big deal at home. A very easy one is spinach and eggs. Dit is ready in 20 min and everyone loves it for dinner. Pretty much with most meals bread and butter or cheese. Homemade bread, yogurt and granolla. I know it takes time but it is worth it. Also quinoa and greens with chicken or yogurt. Very delicious dinner.

Well, it's up to the employer. Some employers still want their employees in the office. As I work under my own company and have worked from home since the beginning, I have to say that I'm finding a lot of service delays now that people are working from home. Initially they all claimed it was great as they were getting more work done, but then this quickly morphed into laziness because there was no accountability. Believe it or not, but many people need to be supervised ... need to be held accountable with physical oversight.

Hi Mark, I also drink a lot of milk. Not sure if you've tried this, but one 'carb load' drink I like is a banana and blueberry milk smoothie. Just add 250ml of milk, a banana and 3 tablespoons of blueberries into a nutri-bullet (blender), blend thoroughly and ... enjoy! That's over 60grams of carbs right there.
(I also go for full cream milk and organic bananas and blueberries).

I'm aware that everybody has to find the diet that is best suited for them, but it's pretty hard to do. It would be very helpful if you could make a video about finding ones nutritional needs, how to tell if we eat too much or not enough of something, common signs of that etc.

Well I'm 39 years of age with a 3 year old and a fulltime job with rotating hours every week 6am-14pm and 14pm-22pm. I don't stress the family with my training so my bike workout I do in a commute stretching it depending on the time of year and training. Running is the same for the long run. The course is a min 20 km's to commute. So this means I have to keep my energy up or I'll break down on the way or back from home ;).
Getting up at 2.30am I drink 2 glasses of water with 50% grape juice. And go out for a medium run (1hour) or run to work approx. 2 hours. On the run or coming back to change in my cycling gear I eat a bananaand a hand of nuts and seeds and again 2 glasses of plain water now. (On the run this is in my backpack with an extra bottle of water mixed with grape juice).
At work after the shower (we are spoiled at Nike)
I eat an apple and a slice of gingerbreadright before the shift starts. And 1L of plain water
I snack on almond nuts before the first break.
During a small break I have 2 slices of breadwith creamcheese and some spinach or slices of tomato.
During lunch I have my muesli with milk and extra seeds. Also 2 to 4 raw carrots.
An hour before leaving work I have some dried fruit or a slece of ginger bread or something else to top up.
When home at approx. 16pm I start with plain water and coffee afterwards for the cravings and as a reward.
At 17pm a warm meal. I try to change it up, but keep in mind to get some meat or eggs or fetta cheese for proteïne. Some 300grams of green vegetable and some ptatoes, pasta, couscous,..... Always coocked with olive oil or steamed or grilled withoud fats.
Before bed some yoghurt with a bit of muesli fueling for recovery and a good start for the next day.
Working the late shift I shift some things arround to make it work.
I manage daily to get in 12 to 14 hours of quality training like this and have lots of spare energy for the family - veeeeerryyyy important!

Hey Mark, after your early run, don't you have any issues with sweating? Seems like you headed out for work pretty much soon afterwards.
After my run it always takes me up to one hour to get the heat out of my body.
May be due to my hefty body which keeps more heat. :D

Top up the protein levels to keep you from getting too hungry with snacks such as nuts and seeds. Fruit gives you vitamins but be aware of the high sugar content. The closest to natural the better as you'll be getting the added minerals and vitamins not just the fat, protein and carbs.

You're always hungry because carbohydrates burn fast. Most what you eat has little to no nutrition. Real food can't be beat. Professor Tim Noakes proves carbohydrates aren't need to perform if you train your body to use a slow burning fuel like fat.

I like to eat bacon sausage and eggs fried in full fat butter for breakfast. I avoid bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, crisps, biscuits. Basically I avoid carbs. I like to have sardines and liver pate for lunch and steak or fish for dinner. I also avoid fruit, vegetables and sugar. So I'm mainly a carnivore. Feel great, running 20 min 5k at 50.

How do you have high energy with no carbs in the diet??

  • @stevef2114
    @stevef2114 2 года назад

Wow, im not sure of your history and if you were pro/semi pro, but looking at this i would say your macros are way off lol! Hardly any protein in your diet.
I understand running needs energy hence carbs, and healthy fats are a must (kept reasonably low though) but muscle can only be kept and maintained by protein, and high volume to.
Are you both Veggie by any chance as i didnt see any meat?

Heeeere come the Vegans. *Stomp stomp stomp*
"You can't eat animal products! But let me tell you my opinion! Allow me to stuff this down your throat instead of meat". Some people eat meat, some people eat cheese, some people don't. Why let the fact that someone else does something different to you ruin your day? - BTW, I'm Vegan.. Yeah. Plot twist in a YT comment.

Love you guys for all the videos except nutrition.
Nutrition is a simple but controversial subject these days.
I looked at the whole video and i knew it was only for carbs addict.
It was evident when you did you fat oxydation test which was very low.
It is amazing that people needs to know what other people eats. I guess some people needs to be reassured about eating carbs, fruits and veggies is good for you.
    Read the science.

H & M, did you realise that the likes of soya, almond, peanut and oat milk etc have the same amount of protein and calcium, if not more in some cases than dairy milk, plus you don't get all of that unhealthy animal fat, hormones or pus cells (dairy contain pus cells - like when you pop a zit). Plant based milks are nearly always fortified with B vitamins and often vitamin D too and the most beneficial thing is that plant milks are not based on the systematic abuse, rape and slaughter of cows because whichever way you look at it, those cows had to get pregnant and they had to have their baby calfs taken from them. Try dairy free for a month and notice the benefits, (good luck with the cheese though as it contains an addictive substance - casomorphin - the morphine part should seem familiar in name).
breakfast is usually a large smoothie with a base of 4 bananas, 2 scoops of oats and 2 scoops of frozen berries and chia seeds - to which i will add a variation of pineapple, spinach / broccoli, beetroot, spirulina, walnuts, almonds, peanut butter and even some electrolyte powder. This always ends up as a very thick consistency so requires us of a spoon.
suggestion: try watching Game Changers on Netflix for a really good insight in to how nutrition can affect performance
