I;ve seen a body on the Capra and overdrive gears in at least two places but I am even more convinced to get the TRX-4 after watching this video. Thanks for the video.
Looking forward to doing this myself. Have 2/3 (Element and TRX), I have favorite spot to go that incorporates all of your test spots while being a gradual climb. Right now, the Rex and Element are pretty evenly matched. Areas where one shines the other not as much and vice versa. Can't wait to get the Capra out there too. Got into this hobby at the best time. 🍻👊👍
Got them all...because of you. LOL One negative about the Capra is that it is fairly impossible to right it after it goes on its roof. Whereas, the truck bodies usually can be righted without "the hand of god" assistance. And I still get similar performance to the two trucks from my SCX10-II kit.
Thanks for sharing, Francis. I (also) enjoyed this video 👍. I have you to blame/thank for having me buy the TRX4 Sport 😎. Next the Capra is on my list. Perhaps the Sandero in future (if my wife lets me 😁)
It's really nice to see a very good driver at all 3 to make it a fair competition. At that point you get to see each at their best rather than one taking a clear win if the driver is not as good with some of them. If that was just one person driving all 3, they are very talented.
Like having a more real looking truck . Was a tough decision between the element and the Traxxas . End of the day I do love portals so TRX 4 sport kit it was . Great video thanks for the insightful review.
Great Video! Have the Trx4 Sport(Building it up from your “things to make it better” video) planning on getting the Capra and probably a Sendero builders kit for something to play with over the winter! Love em all!
Great video...but, I would like to say that the Capra's dig IS good for climbing. In fact, it's great...however, to take it from "good", to "great", you need to set it up as a 3-position, not 2. This way, you gain the FWD w/ freewheeling rear.
@@RCReviewChannel I'm using 7PX. I set one of the DTs for -100/+100 w/ step of 100. Before attaching horn to dig servo, I centered servo, and set endpoints to '20'. Next, using sub-trim, found the "sweet spot" for the 'freewheeling' dig setting (DT @ 0). Finally, slowly worked out the endpoints for '4WD' & 'locked rear'. My biggest problem in getting the dig operational was discovering that my original micro servo was defective.
Awesome demonstration of all three rigs. Always great reviews and tips you have also. I have Trx4 sport I love it very capable truck, would love to grab the Capra though I love the looks and performance. 👍👊
I was set on a Capra but after visiting the hobby store and seeing that TRX-4 has hi/lo and locking/unlocking differentials ..I'm leaning towards TRX4. My last RC was a Kyosho Raider 2WD, so I've been out of the game for a while
TRX-4 is good for sure and the locking/unlocking hi/lo are good for trailing and more possiblities with the rc. For pure crawling, it's better to have the TRX-4 Sport which is simpler but a better performer due to weight.
I have an Element, and ZERO complaints. I bought the RTR version and it does almost everything I ask of it (within reason of course). Very capable right out of the box, and only gets better as you upgrade
@@RCReviewChannel pre orders are opening up for the next batch next week i believe. The quality of parts, and the new vfd trans is a game changer. The capra has the edge on pure rocks, for sure. But as a scale truck, its awesome.
All your videos make a good chill out time after work. I am still checking all the videos to decide what to buy,but durability is my main concern after scale look
Beaten on my Capra for over a year with no breakages at all only just replaced the motor due to overheated the old one to many times (2.2 tires and mud = hot engine) First month I ordered 2.2 deep woods Then no spring mod keeps the CG low but 2.2 gives plenty of ground clearance and one hell of a lot of traction Now have flat tire on both rears! the tires started coming off the rims from so much beating in hillclimbs over the year Probably gotten 100-150 or so 3s 1800mah batteries through it now Definitely the most durable rc I’ve owned so far
Great Video!!! I can't wait until I get my Trx4 setup likes yours! Had the opportunity to drive an Element this past weekend for a full battery pack. It was modded with brass knuckles, hexes, & mamba max w/3800. It was a lot of fun. The shocks and flexing were great. Might look into it for my next kit.
Interesting video. I don't have any 1/10 scale crawlers as I like my 1/8 scale stuff. My favorite being my Double Eagle D110. That thing performs so well out of the box that I just ordered a second one 👍. I upgraded the electronics and it's a total beast. But I'm really liking that Element and wouldn't mind having that if I were to get a 1/10 scale crawler
It’s important to compare these trucks together due to the fact that these are you best options walking into the hobby store. I thought I wanted them for the snow, but the snow gets up into the top of the tracks, and then they can't turn. They sure look cool though. Great for shore line or river water, and sand.
The capra can be mounted with a body. Cut oil migration required but any body can be fit to just about any rig within reason. I personally like the element, it just works and it can be modded to do many things. I have been debating on an element or capra and I think I'm just too big a fan of my scale rigs to do the capra. My old scx10 does extremely well to this day, yes it is heavily modded but that is normal. I like associated products and think the sendero is your best value while retaining scale options for the customizer. Great video.
Exactly. That's why we try. BTW, our Capra has the pen spring mod to lower the suspension. It was pretty top heavy box stock and was not this good. The pen spring is put inside the piston as a negative spring to lower the vehicle. ruclips.net/video/EBP2rlFsPes/видео.html
Just a thought...a shootout with older trucks vs newer to show the differences if any, and what the gains are with the newer designs. Example, Vaterra Ascender, 1st gen scx10, and put it up against these newer trucks to show just how much better they are, or is it more up to the driver taking the right line. Just a thought.
Great series of videos you create, I started out under a year ago and have amassed a nice collection of crawlers and bashers. I have the Enduro, love it the overdrive and Lightbody is unstoppable, I have the Traxxas 12.8 with a ford Raptor body, an Axial and a Vaterra. Loving my Element Enduro, I will keep it for sure. Thanks for validating my purchase. I have a question about the predator compound tires since we are in about the same area, I'm in Hollister,CA just down the road from you. Do you run the predator tires in the summer I've seen a few people say they get to gummy over 75 degrees?
Validation is key for us too. Predator usually. The only issue is heavy vehicles or the tire getting trapped under rocks. Dual stage foams is key for sidewall support.
I am looking at trx4 sport and ecx temper gen 2 - I am so confused on which one to buy. This will be my first rc car so any suggestion would be great. I normally fly fpv drones, so the batteries and chargers are not a problem.
I’m learning I need a second truck than my TRX4 Sport assembly kit. The Element Trailwalker version with the smaller tires is only $299 and I’ve a set of unused TRX4 1.9 tires and wheels and the open cell foams I got from my PL Krawler Predators. With how light the Element is those soft foams might perform well with the TRX4 tires. I’m thinking on it.
add an inch to the wheelbase of the Capra and put 2.2 hyrax on steel wheels. They sell metal driveshafts on wish for $10. they are for the scx10 ii but fit the Capra. metal and telescoping. I think I used the end links from the trx4 lift kit.
I love this channel! I watch every new video it puts up! It was this channel that “finally” got me to purchase my fist trail crawler (Redcat Gen8) after 30years of running just nitro’s! My wife fell I love with the Gen8 just as quickly as I did. So she inherited it and I bought my TRX4 Mercedes G-500. We started making trail crawling together an option for date night together. She has since replaced all her plastic gears with metal & upgraded too a sensored brushless system and Now I’d trade all my fancy gizmos in for just locked diffs and a sensored brushless system! Her Gen8 now has way more slow crawl capability than my TRX4 in low gear, & a little bit faster than my TRX4 in hi gear!? Did I mention she’s still on 2s & I’m on 3s! 🤬😤it’s not supposed to be like this! 🤣We’re having so much fun though so it’s all worth it! 👍🤘👌👊 Thanks for asking.🍻from🇨🇦
I always say now: when it comes to crawling there are only 2types of people? Those that are into it & those that haven’t really tried it yet? LOL!!!! But yeah!, it’s a blessing when your significant other is open minded to trying what you love! Thanks for the awesome content & great response. 👊👍👌
Thank you for this test between these Three, I do have a TRX 4 Sport RTR, Element Trailwalker RTR, but not the Capra 1.9 and have been looking at them in the RTR outfit it seems as if it is a good Rock Crawler given the Open Wheels and Bodystyle with the Dig but not sure about the cost so just went with the TRX 4 Bronco RTR and Love it Capra might be in My Future ✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing 👍😎👍 AOAH 🌟 RCF4L 🙏 Stay Safe and Play Healthy My Friend
Looking at buying one, I love scale and trail, been looking at the trx4 and trx6 trying to get the most bang for my buck. However I am a huge traxxas fan
Hi! I'm new to the scaler world I'm a little confused, I saw your video of the comparison between sport and element and the traxxas came out the winner while here I see that Sendero performs better in addition the flexibility of the Element you said it was a disadvantage while here it seems positive I have to decide for my purchase ...... thanks for your attention
So in RTR (ready to run) format, the TRX-4 Sport is better since the Element has problems. In the kit (assemble yourself) format, the Element RC is better since the problems are not as present. In the end, the two are very, very close.
I have Trx4 Sport and Element Sendero.. both with HW 1080 and HH Crawlmaster Sport motor.. TRX4 are more robust, but Element is is more pleasurable to drive.
I like the video! I tried to have a open mind about the Capra it’s just not my thing. It dose do very well but I like the others more. The tires did awesome on all three rigs . Great video 👍👍
Do you have any videos on the 1.9 wraith? I have a RC4WD Marlin Crawler, starting to up grade some parts, looking to get a second crawler, and I was looking at the 1.9 wraith,
I like the TRX4 option especially if you are just getting into the crawlers as it comes with wheels and good to start tires. If you were to get the cheapest tires and wheels on the Element you’d still be over the cost of the TRX4 sport. A cheap body would still be at least $30 too. I also like the availability of parts fromTraxxas too. The plastics seem higher quality too vs the Element. If ARRMA makes a crawler/scaler though watch out
Awesome video!!! Love the comparison between the different styles. Gives a person an different insight when trying to decide what to buy. Keep up the great work!!!
Good video though I feel the title should have been 'Best Crawlers of 2019' or something along those lines, I can already hear the comments of people in a bit of a huff lol. Everyone knows comparing a Capra to any scale crawler is like comparing apples to oranges. I have seen Capras with scale bodies on them, I think it's just a matter of how badly you want a body on a Capra as well as modifying a body to make it work, but yeah there are no bodies officially available for the Capra other than panels. Nothing's really stopping me from grabbing a F-150 body, doing some cuts here trimming there, fitting body mounting hardware to the Capra cage and bam, got a Capra F-150.
I like the Capra most.. for technical obstacles .. I like the Trx4 for the accessibility. I like the element for the scale look. I want it!!! I wouldn’t be able to build any of these though. I’m a rookie. I’d need RTR
If you can hold a screwdriver and read a manual, you can build one. Most of these kits are really quite easy to build. Capra is a bit of a pain with cable routing and not the easiest to waterproof. If in doubt, start off with a Tamiya kit as they come with very good instructions and are even more easy to build than these 3.
Where is the scx10 II or III. I can't recall when the III was released. I havent been super impressed with the capra, seems to need a good deal of set and mods to utilize its hidden ability.
I've got a Capra and I love it for rock crawling....this winter will tell how it likes mud and water. I haven't seen anyone really do anything other than rock crawl with them on youtube. Exocaged took his in the sand once....
I really wanted a capra because its so capable but half of the enjoyment of crawling for me is seeing full body vehicles I can customize to look like my full size jeep or other vehicles you see on the road. The buggy styling just doesn't have the same excitement for me for some reason.
Great Vid! And did you add some additional weight to front wheels or front axle of TRX4? In general how much would you recommend for the TRX4 Sport? Greetings from Germany, love your Channel!
I have the wraith and the Capra, the Wraith is much bigger/heavier and is usually on 2.2 tires. The Capra is narrower. lighter, has the portal axles and the dig. If i were to own only one. id say the Capra but its also more expensive to get going.
I have a sport its Amazing my brother has the capra nice rig but still prefer my sport so I guess my next move will be the Sendero and probably the 10.3 after that
Remember everyone "crawler" nowadays is a trail truck. Two very different things. Check out exalted rc for trx4 capabities without high dollar "V" parts. I fabbed my own, you can too with a grinder and deck joist metal. I have a capra too, still cannot do as well. Trx4 sport, proper shock mounts, shocks and hh crawlmaster, finally a snip on the stock trx4 tires w dual stage WILL crush anything else. Far out does hyrax.
Hey guys, I was wondering do you have a fix for the awful toe out that comes on the enduro? I think it’s a c-hub design issue. I just got an Enduro, and it kills my OCD lmao!
@@RCReviewChannel it will be a capra, not impressed w/its tall gearing but we'll get around it. Already have a couple other crawlers. I want it as a dedicated crawler. It could open up some different lines in a good crawl area close by. The trx will have to wait.
So all the tires are Proline Hyrax. The wheels on the Element RC are Traxxas Method beadlocks with Red outer rings - snp.link/6bb8a3f9 and the rings snp.link/66e90d80
I believe the capra gets the special bite from the high speed gearing, which results in less torque to the tires, paired with low weight. Very good video
To me it’s a crawler vs 2 scalers. I have a wraith and a few trx4 and 2 slashes. All for different reasons. The wraith is superior on rocks only and on trails the trx4 is more capable by about the Same margins. Overall the trx4 is more usable for me because I am on trail roots rocks hills etc vs a rock pile. If you have room in the yard for a 10’x10’ or 5’x15’ rock pile and about a ton of rock to make it fun and that’s not all that much then lean towards a crawler btbif you have hiking trails near by and you can get creative on terrain do the trail truck/scaler. Once I free modded my wraith it got hard to make a challenge for it. The scaler is way more realistic as to what you have to build to drive it on or even more importantly for most is where they can take it. Trail truck not 💯 but about %80. Love all these rigs myself and fantastic reviews my man! Super thorough and repeated tests on different rigs exactly the same and I super dig that bro!!! No bs here or misleading. I don’t feel like dude is trying to sell one of them on us. Thanks man great content!!!

👍🤘👌👊 Thanks for asking.🍻from🇨🇦
Very, very cool your wife is in to it. Blessing!!!!!!
I always say now: when it comes to crawling there are only 2types of people? Those that are into it & those that haven’t really tried it yet? LOL!!!! But yeah!, it’s a blessing when your significant other is open minded to trying what you love! Thanks for the awesome content & great response. 👊👍👌
Thank you for this test between these Three, I do have a TRX 4 Sport RTR, Element Trailwalker RTR, but not the Capra 1.9 and have been looking at them in the RTR outfit it seems as if it is a good Rock Crawler given the Open Wheels and Bodystyle with the Dig but not sure about the cost so just went with the TRX 4 Bronco RTR and Love it
Capra might be in My Future
✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing 👍😎👍 AOAH 🌟 RCF4L 🙏 Stay Safe and Play Healthy My Friend
Looking at buying one, I love scale and trail, been looking at the trx4 and trx6 trying to get the most bang for my buck. However I am a huge traxxas fan
Hi!
I'm new to the scaler world
I'm a little confused, I saw your video of the comparison between sport and element and the traxxas came out the winner while here I see that Sendero performs better
in addition the flexibility of the Element you said it was a disadvantage while here it seems positive
I have to decide for my purchase ...... thanks for your attention
Rrright? It's kind of a smooth operator.
I see can all 3 platforms pulling performance tricks from each other. In this review the Element is reigning supreme kn this review!!
agree
I like the video! I tried to have a open mind about the Capra it’s just not my thing. It dose do very well but I like the others more. The tires did awesome on all three rigs . Great video 👍👍
The tires are crazy in these conditions huh?
Awesome video, I've been waiting for this shootout.. Brilliant vehicles.. Are you running stock motors with the 1080?
So the TRX4 and Element have the 1080 and they are running Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster 35t motors at 11.1v
That front overdrive makes a difference.
one day you will be a master good job
Do you have any videos on the 1.9 wraith? I have a RC4WD Marlin Crawler, starting to up grade some parts, looking to get a second crawler, and I was looking at the 1.9 wraith,
We have some on this channel. It's not very good box stock. High CG and too much plastick links.
i have the txr4 and umg10 but still want the other two to i may have an addiction lol
Addiction affliction is what we have.
Which one has stood the test of time as far as reliability goes?
I like the TRX4 option especially if you are just getting into the crawlers as it comes with wheels and good to start tires. If you were to get the cheapest tires and wheels on the Element you’d still be over the cost of the TRX4 sport. A cheap body would still be at least $30 too. I also like the availability of parts fromTraxxas too. The plastics seem higher quality too vs the Element. If ARRMA makes a crawler/scaler though watch out
Our thoughts exactly!!!
Awesome video!!! Love the comparison between the different styles. Gives a person an different insight when trying to decide what to buy. Keep up the great work!!!
TRX4 is the king. It does all the things that the others do and It has dif lock, 2 speed gearbox and the most beautiful bodies.
Nothing's really stopping me from grabbing a F-150 body, doing some cuts here trimming there, fitting body mounting hardware to the Capra cage and bam, got a Capra F-150.
that is a good idea.
Would be perfect for me if they add 2 speed transmission. Simply more fun.
Would you consider the Gmade bom kit in this group? If not why?
Do you have an Instagram account? Would love to see pics of your trucks
Have the trx4 sport, really like it,the truck amazes some that I crawl with because being stock,it out crawles some of the modified trucks in out group
TRX4 Sport stock is pretty dialed. Capra is too high and needs to be lowered. Element RC is too flexy and needs to be stiffened.
Where is the scx10 II or III. I can't recall when the III was released. I havent been super impressed with the capra, seems to need a good deal of set and mods to utilize its hidden ability.
I have the trx4 g500. Would you recommend a different body for it?
Francis now after having the Capra a while what do you feel are must have upgrades? Thanks for any suggestions.
Right here ruclips.net/video/xf1MaOPEIrc/видео.html
Also, Vitavon brass portal covers and 30%overdrive gearing
The enduro for me
What sae oil used in shocks the Trx?
Pd. Nice chanel
35wt.
I've got a Capra and I love it for rock crawling....this winter will tell how it likes mud and water. I haven't seen anyone really do anything other than rock crawl with them on youtube. Exocaged took his in the sand once....
Yeah, gotta seal up that receiver box and give it a whirl. You know we're not afraid to submerge!
I really wanted a capra because its so capable but half of the enjoyment of crawling for me is seeing full body vehicles I can customize to look like my full size jeep or other vehicles you see on the road. The buggy styling just doesn't have the same excitement for me for some reason.
Very true. Once you choose the Capra, very few body options if any.
I really want the Capra
I would get it if you can. I have one and the flex is spectacular
what is the best buy capra rtr or kit??
Great vid! What wheels are on the trx and the Capra? What size?
Those are Gmade steel beadlock wheels in 1.9
@@RCReviewChannel thanks! I had a set of those on my first gelande!
Great Vid! And did you add some additional weight to front wheels or front axle of TRX4?
In general how much would you recommend for the TRX4 Sport?
Greetings from Germany, love your Channel!
Capra hands down, performance over toy looks. Getting one soon.
Would the redcat gen 8 be on the same level or no as I am still thinking what to buy
In my opinion the TRX4 Sport is what you might manna get
im thinking about the CAPRA
It's a good one. Just needs to be lowered.
What wheels are on the capra and trx4?
Gmade steel wheels
@@RCReviewChannel how did you get them to fit
whats the difference between this and the wraith? which one would you recommend?
I have the wraith and the Capra, the Wraith is much bigger/heavier and is usually on 2.2 tires. The Capra is narrower. lighter, has the portal axles and the dig. If i were to own only one. id say the Capra but its also more expensive to get going.
1st winner trx4 sport
What do you think about Gmade Bom GS02 Kit?
Don't know anything about that yet.
@@RCReviewChannel This really should be your next review kit, or the Gmade GS02 TA kit
Ahh, haven't noticed it too much. Uh-oh, might bother us now.
I just got the trx 4 sport . Any advise for other body options?
Anything with a 12.3" wheebase will fit.
here are all that fit. Proline is the best manufacturer of bodies snp.link/931d5e70
And this years xmas will be, drum roll pls.....I've been waiting on this info.
Thank you in advance
which one???
@@RCReviewChannel it will be a capra, not impressed w/its tall gearing but we'll get around it.
Already have a couple other crawlers. I want it as a dedicated crawler. It could open up some different lines in a good crawl area close by.
The trx will have to wait.
What's up with all the static
equipment problems. Fixed now with new, expensive gear.
Which tries do you use on the element rc?
So all the tires are Proline Hyrax. The wheels on the Element RC are Traxxas Method beadlocks with Red outer rings - snp.link/6bb8a3f9 and the rings snp.link/66e90d80
All three vehicles are running Proline Hyrax 1.9 tires.
Really cool video.. Nice work.. NC❤ MOUNTAINS back yard RC.AND MORE. 🏞🖒💯
Yeah, yeah. Not our worst work. :)
I believe the capra gets the special bite from the high speed gearing, which results in less torque to the tires, paired with low weight. Very good video
The sport body with light kit is super heavy.
It's pretty thick lexan. The key is to remove the bed rack
While not a crawler,if u want heavyweight,I have an HG P602 and that weighs like 16-17 lbs 😄
I like the TRX4....
Yes you can see where the Capra shines the trail trucks have a great deal of body drag .....the Element Sandaro has great ability too....
Right? Cool to observe, even for us.
Thanks man great content!!!
yeah, we learned quite a bit. Appreciate the input.
