    Solid recommendations. Currently I use the 16mm, the 28 cookie lens, 50mm and the 100-400mm for long distances. Not sure if I will go for the 35mm, but definitely want to have the 85mm.

    Great video the 2 lenses I settled for are sigma 18-35 f1.8 with adapter of course and rf 85 f2

      @AnthonyHadleyJr  Год назад +1

      You can never go wrong with the 18-35. And I still probably use my 85 as much as if not more than any other rf lens for RUclips related content.

    Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for, RF lenses that are affordable. I just ordered the rf 85mm f2, the next one will be the rf 50mm 1.8 and one day the 35mm 1.8. I have quite a few old EF lenses for sell and the money go for new ones ;)

    Definitely use the focal length adjustment on the 85. It really hunts if you have it set to full but if you use the .3-.5 for macro and then the .5-infinity the autofocus works just like any other lens

    i have 16mm f2.8 and 35mm f1.8 and recently i rented the zoom 24 105 f4. IMO the image quality of the zoom the lens at f4 is similar to the cheap primes lenes at f4. SO if you need versality go for the zoom. otherwise the primes are fine.

    Also grab the new 28mm f2.8. Then you have a "proper" set 16/35/85mm, and a super light and pocketable 16/28/50mm.

      @@AnthonyHadleyJr Despite the 28 to be the smallest of all it offers the ability AF on/off not zo be switched via the menu but the switch at the lens.
      (me using BBF never need this switch, I am always AF on and just not touch the bottom when focusing manual.)

    I use an R10 (crop sensor) and I don’t want to be swapping lenses all the time and I don’t care about video so my perfect photography kit is as follows:
    -RF-S 10-18 mm for landscape, architecture and macro.
    -RF-S 18-150 mm for street photography, landscape, mild macro and short range telephoto (walk around lens basically).
    -RF 50mm 1.8 for portraits and low light photography.
    -RF 100-400 mm for wildlife photography and long range telephoto shooting.

      Basically my identical setup, I just miss the RF 100-400mm But I plan on getting one. I was wondering if buying the 35mm is worth it, I want to do some baby photography and, although the 50mm could serve me well, I feel like the 35mm can give me extra flexibility with details with its macro capabilities. Moreover it would be a 56mm FF equivalent.

  • @Sashalexandros
    @Sashalexandros Год назад +14

    The 50mm has terrible chromatic aberation, and LRC doesn't have profile for it. Photgraphed a baby and almost every white blanked edge has a bit of a green tint. Something that I haven't noticed using vintage soviet lenses on RF mount. Also that slow video focusing seems artificial to me because in photomode it's pretty fast.

    • @AnthonyHadleyJr
      @AnthonyHadleyJr  Год назад +1

      Those are definitely fair points, I don’t use mine much for professional photography so I don’t feel those pain points, but they’re definitely valid. The video focus on the 85 may be a bit artificial. I’m assuming it has something to do with the macro mode as well and choosing to be slow to mail focus rather than fast and overshooting it. Either way, I still like and use that lens as much or more than any of my others.

    • @Sashalexandros
      @Sashalexandros Год назад +2

      @@AnthonyHadleyJr The advantage of it is that it's a good backup lens, it's kinda jack-of-all-trades that doesn't take much space, like a small spare tire.

      I really like the 35mm. It’s fast, has macro, still has a cinema like focal range and you can always switch to 4K to crop in if you need something closer to a 50mm. Conversely, for about the same price you can buy the 16mm and 50mm!

    I didn't like all of the noise from the RF50mm 1.8 while it is focusing. It sounds like a coffee grinder! All of my Sony prime lenses focus quickly and silently.

    • @AnthonyHadleyJr
      @AnthonyHadleyJr  Год назад

      That’s definitely fair. Having never owned any Sony lenses, I feel it’s a fair trade off for the price. But if Sony has comparable offerings for the same price - both quick and silent - then that’s definitely a leg up for them.

      Hey! Thanks! Honestly, I’d say it depends on how you like to frame your shots (talking head, etc.) but I think if I had to recommend one I’d say the 35mm. Good focal length for wide talking head shots, great for street photography, it has macro capabilities and if your camera has a crop mode you can turn it into a 50mm.

    I fucking hate this hobby.
    These are considered "budget" lenses. They're budget if you're starting out as a professional in photography. With my current income, only the 50 f/1.8 is affordable without stringent saving up for 2-8 months.
    So my question is. Where the hell do I go to make money off this hobby. I've been grinding at shooting both photo and video in different conditions for 4 months now, I'm at around 2500 photos and 300 video clips, and I've asked around in forums and groups for opinions about the results to really good feedback.
    WHERE do I go to find work. WHERE.

    • @AnthonyHadleyJr
      @AnthonyHadleyJr  Год назад +1

      Sheesh. Lol. But I understand that energy. The prices of “pro” lenses are definitely crazy. But the good thing is you get a lot of value -in terms of quality, relative to price - with these lenses. And it’s definitely hard to find work, especially the closer you are to starting out. Where are you located?
