I'm just glad for folks that haven't gotten the updated instructions with their truck. Those last 6 months with an ESC and Transmitter that couldn't be set was a nightmare from what I seen. Mine came with plain instructions on how to adjust everything with the V2. Awesome job on this vid. 🍻🖖
Thank goodness they listened. But I still want that new rubber battery strap. Speed motor would have been nice. I’m finally working on getting mine in for mine.
My Smasher transmitter is a second batch, no dipswitches, but it has the foam steering wheel like the V2. I wasn't expecting the drag brake setting to work and it doesn't on my transmitter. I'll probably get a Flysky GT5 , a micro receiver, furitek esc for both my 1/24th scale down the road. I'm still waiting for the servo saver and that battery strap to be sold as upgrades. The decision to reduce the ball bearing count on the V2 seems odd to me when the drag brake seems like a software update and the servo saver couldn't have added $1 to the cost of the truck.
Dang it that bums me out because I already bought two max smashers white one in the blue one. And I tried binding my radio that came with my FCX 24 power wagon doesn’t really work right so the ESC is different also. Yeah that really bums me out. Appreciate you sharing,
You change the transmitter to a different kind or you ordered the old-style he saying the new Styles better because you can adjust stuff out like that breaking stuff
I got both (2nd batch) the white and the blue early on the second run. I believe they should supply everyone with a transmitter and radio. Just like the gears in the portals. Just saying or offer them at a supurb price. Furthermore ive yet to use both of mine. Plus I was able to get a tan body had a little issue with the parts that came with it but Fair Rc came through and made it right. Thanks Matt for them vids !!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 ROCK ON RIGHT ON RIGHT On RIGHT On
Thanks. This actually helped with my V2 MAGNUM. I hate the brake. Instant reverse is much better for trail trucks and crawlers. I spent quite a while on this trying to figure it out as there is little info on the Magnum. I plan on adding the 2 speed gear box down the road. I'm not sure if it makes any difference but my radio has a V3 sticker under the wheel.
Damn I just installed the fms high speed motor and it's freaking epic. The first thing I did was put it in neutral and full throttle in that thing whistles like a champ
This is the first time I had something ahead of you. 2 nights ago was really confusing for me when I finally received my smasher. I could not understand why I needed to hit the reverse throttle 2 times for reverse. It doesn’t help that I’m new to the hobby and didn’t know what drag brake was. But NOW I know. Could you please post a video recommending wheels and tires for me converting my smasher into a full time crawler?
I got a power wagon 2 weeks ago from Amazon, and it came with the original controller with the switches. Makes me curious if it’s somehow a leftover or they went back to the original.
Fairrc now have the smasher v2 in white and also sell the v2 remote with the esc. I think it's a confirmation that you need both to use the crawler setting.
I have the V1.5 and personally don't have an issue with the forward/stop/reverse and have mastered nose wheelies pretty easily... it's more fun when you have to work on something. This V2 sounds complicated 😕
I just got my v2 and love it. But my lights are weird. When i turn on the car they will light up but then turn off after a second. Any ideas for what i could do? I checked the connections and they seem fine. When the lights turn on they are both bright and solid
Seen that everyone was upgrading the motor, I recently bought one of these V2s and was waiting to see if they put the more powerful motor in.. so guess not. And seems you need a different battery- it shows you need the one without something (can't remember what it said) So that will be ordered next after reloading my card.
Yeah the stock battery don’t handle it well. I tried an Scx24 battery in it and it did fine also. Don’t have to be the one from fms. Just as long as it’s a higher c rating with no pcm.
Interesting to see the "enhancements"!!! I was lucky to get the 2nd batch. It's fun but yea it sucks not having any adjustability. I just received my V1 esc/rec that I'm going to swap in. Great vid my brother!!!!🤘🤘🤘
I'd turn it upside down to do this but you can reverse the direction of the motor by fully pulling or pushing the trigger then pressing the REV button once. My RT/RX combo did not come in an RTR or with the manual (replaced a V1) and it needed reversed. Easy to do but I didn't find it intuitive.
Matt, question for you. I have the speed motor in my Smasher and when i give it full throttle sometimes the truck will stop then start again. Almost like the esc shuts down briefly or just has a delay. So then I tried to redo the throttle calibration and now its worse almost like the calibration didn’t take. What is the correct way to set the throttle on these trucks? I followed the manual but can’t get it to calibrate as I keep getting beeps after calibrating. By the way great videos. I really love this smasher truck its awesome. Thanks Ron
Hey Matt finally picked up a v2 smasher do you think I need the metal gears for the speed motor or could I get away with just swapping the motor on the stock plastic gears and be ok
Should be ok for a good bit on the stock gears. Just depends how hard you are on it lol. The biggest concern with going to the speed motor is a better battery that won’t shut the esc off when going from forward to reverse quickly. Lots of people having issues with that.
I was on the motion rc website they have the white and blue available today2/2/23 it says in the list of V2 that they have 8 ball bearings and 16 oilite bushings?? but the fms bearing kit has15 bearings, not 16... so needs bearing kit berfore running it
Okay so I bought an FCX24 k5 blazer and I got everything bound. But when I go to change the gears in the transmission it doesn't move the shifter and the throttle does nothing either. I had it kinda working earlier but now all it will do is just sit there and steer right and left. If I push the throttle trim all the way up or down it will move the truck but the throttle does nothing to move it. Im not sure if I need to calibrate the throttle or what is going on. Please help. I've tried to calibrate the throttle per the manual but it doesn't seem to work. Can you do a video on calibrating the throttle, please?
I just got my FCX24 power wagon yesterday and it came with a V2 transmitter with the foam wheel, but it doesn’t seem to be able to go into adjustment mode. Nothing happens when you double tap the REV button. Any thoughts?
@@2fmrc ok then, makes sense. I couldn't tell from the video. Side note FMS is sold out of both blue and yellow Power Wagons. I had to buy a red one, and a blue body from the spare parts offerings. LOL, I just had to get the full trifecta.
@@troylitvinow8233 you can use one transmitter for multiple trucks but each time you swap back to a different truck you will have to rebind it. So you can technically run 10 trucks on the one transmitter. You’ll just need to bind it to each one again as you switch from truck to truck. So it can only be bound to one truck at a time basically.

I have the V2 and with the drag brake to zero it still nose wheelies when letting off throttle quickly. When pushing it by hand you feel the resistance and hear the ESC/motor working against it. So my car has no real zero. The range seems to be between 60% and 100%.
In short, the transmitter could not adjust drag brake if the manual is not labelled under v2?and with the drag brake finction in the manual In short this new transmitter has two version?
I just bought one of these on sale on AliExpress for $60 shipped, they had a 3ch and 4ch version and the 4ch was sold out but $140, I’m wondering if it’s because the 3ch version is old stock of these non programmable escs? I want to make mine a locked dif crawler and I kinda need the fwd reverse drag brake mode for that. Is there jumpers or something on the older one so you can at least program it that way?
There is 3 different versions of transmitters. One has the dip switches which is easy to change modes, one has the v2 controller which has the ability to switch but you have to go through the menu system and the other one has basically the same transmitter as the v2 but has no way to change the settings as far as I know.
@@2fmrc Unfortunately it seems like it was too good to be true, after paying I got a message from the seller telling me to pay an extra $50 shipping and now I'm going through aliexpress support... he claims it was because of some automatic discount error. Such a headache but maybe they'll get him to ship it and it will be the actual updated version, the listing does say "v2".
I have one, and when i power it on the controller makes a clicking sound and flashes green really fast and never binds. Did I get a dud? Or anyone know how to fix this
I don't want it fast... Having two speeds makes it fast enough for me. I like the slow crawl speed most. Thanks for the update on the remote, I see on thier add it says they have v2 on Amazon now.

Yes you do have to be careful with FMS because they have a habit of sending cheap controllers with their RCs. The last set was with the FCX24 I just got and they didn't work and overheated within a couple of minutes of being turned on. So they will be getting this one back.
Thank goodness I got an original Max Smasher. Thankfully they listened and gave everyone the adjustability on the V2's.
Yeah I only ended up with one of the ones with no tuning thankfully. I’ve got a few stock escs around if I really wanna switch it out lol
