    Aaron, of the 20 million Rodecaster Video videos I’ve seen so far, literally every one of my favorite tech reviewers has made at least three, this is the best yet. Really honest stuff. Thank you.

      In the interim, would this be solved by connecting the RCP or RCPII to the Rodecaster Video? Am asking because you've raised a really good point, and if I can't do that, I can't use this until it get this audio feature you suggested.

    Excellent observations! Thank you! When I was experimenting the Rodecaster Video, these are the stumbling blocks I also ran into and I returned the unit for good. No visible mixer on the unit and even the scenes are also A,B,C,D, and so on and unlike Streak Deck Deck buttons it does not show any name on the button! So, I have to put sticky labels to know which button is what scene, etc. Also to add, (1) It does not support some of the common webcams such as Anker C200. While my ECamm and OBS nicely pick up these webcams, why this unit is so picky.. (2) There is no support for Stream Deck to be used. What if I have more than 7 scenes (A,B,D.. crap)? While this machine sounds good having so many things, I felt that my hands are tied to use the features efficiently. The control display is so minicure to use especially when you are streaming and many things to take care at the same time. No NDI support either. I am happy with ECamm and not switching to this RodeCaster Video!

    Good stuff! Good point on mapping HDMI outputs.
    Yes, having an AFV effect with a scene setup would be good when live and switching between audio sources to not be hot or live on air while other content is played.
    Maybe, they could create hotkey function to assign then map with stream deck or other process.

    #2 is what I would love the most. Honestly if that overlay button could also play video for transitions, tickers, and live graphics, then this would be overpowered! I used the Rodecaster Video for my first livestream last week and it was the easiest livestream ever.

    :Agree that the keying feature is VERY limited. I would like the keying feature to be available with media. Using an input solely for keying is an issue. If newer UVC cameras could work (e.g. insta360 or Obsbot Tail/Tiny) in usb inputs, then it would be more feasible to dedicate an HDMI input to "keyed" options (tablet, laptop, or phone). THANK YOU for the great review of this equipment.

    Great video. I know the Streamer X is a different product altogether but it does 4K and good mic input, if I have the money to get RCV should I. I’m wondering Streamer X with additional capture device will allow software to do everything RCV does with multi inputs

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  Месяц назад +2

      I'm not even sure there is any way to make a direct comparison like this. The Streamer X is a capture card with a lot of audio processing features built in, but as far as video goes, it's just a single-camera capture card. So you of course can do a bunch of stuff in software with multiple capture cards, but that's a very different workflow than the RØDECaster Video.

    • @aaronpk

      Yeah I think I mentioned this in another video or maybe a livestream, I'd really like a controller roughly the size of the Rodecaster duo but all it does is control the audio mix in the Rodecaster video.

    • @yorkie984
      @yorkie984 Месяц назад

      @@aaronpk That's similar to what I would have hoped for and I told Rode this on their socials. They were very good at engaging with me, however my preference wouldm have been for something more like a Rodecaster but with the RHS of the console dedicated to the video buttons as I think as this stage, we can do without the stored sound FX. For a company which has traditionally made audio products, I feel as if they leant too much towards video with this product and I think they really missed out by not having audio controls on the front panel.
      Maybe a future product will address this but for now, the ATEM mini series has more audio control on the panel, albeit only channel selection and muting, but it's more than this product has.

  • @mattwruff

    My problem with the RCV is also it's greatest strength. I know I'm old school, but I like physical controls. So you pay for all of the audio ability with no way to use it easy on they fly. I think they made a huge mistake! I'm not anti-RODE I had the RCP and now I have the RCPII and it great. I don't need the RCV to do audio I just want it to work nicely with my RCPII. There are places this would fit if someone doesn't already have a good sound board, but I have no need to pay (probably half the cost) for an internal Rodecaster DUO when I already have an RCPII.

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  Месяц назад

      It would have definitely been interesting to go the other route with this and make it a video-only switcher that relies on the RØDECaster Duo/Pro for audio. I wonder if that could have made it cheaper too.

    • @aaronpk

    • @VDeeO_Buff
      @VDeeO_Buff Месяц назад

      @@aaronpk Thanks Aaron. That’s disappointing to hear, and to be honest, a deal breaker for me if only Rode wireless and usb mics will work with this switcher. i much prefer gear with wide compatibility across devices, the less restrictions on shoots the better!

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  Месяц назад +1

      I suspect with wireless mics it's just that every wireless mic uses their own custom connection so it's really only possible to work with their own brand. The USB audio should theoretically be possible to use other devices since there are USB audio standards, but I suspect they limited that just to reduce the number of weird issues their support would get when people try to connect strange devices. You can already sort of see that happening with the webcam input, because it only works with certain types of webcams, people plug in a random webcam and it doesn't show up and then are confused why.

    • @beesteadyproductions
      @beesteadyproductions 16 дней назад

      @@VDeeO_Buff every single wireless mic kit runs its own protocol. Show me any 2 brands of wireless transmitters and receivers that are inter-compatible.
      You can plug in any normal audio source. Its not fussy. Usb audio in however can run from any audio interface as far as i know. But the wireless mic integration is built for the Wireless Go II’s.
