    So once top bin is full and you swap with middle bin do you transfer worms to top or do they get through holes in bottom of the newly placed top bin. All these Vids omit this detail for a begginer.

      @smith9157 Год назад +22

      Yeah if you put new scraps into the new container and give your worms a week or two they should mostly all migrate as long as they don't still have food to eat in the original container!

      Often we meet worms in our food forest.. and there's always someplace shady with something planted which might need that lil jeuje/something extra.. that's just where we're likely to dig a deep enough thin hole. Or they like the raised beds.. there's mini composters which we built in. Black gold is everyplace on this sanctuary of herbal haven.. humbled and overwhelmed to gratitude and reverence for all life; every moment 🙂✌🏽

    Absolutely love this!
    Thanks for making it so simple. We have a tumbler, and a free-standing hot composter.. and often will just leave piles of woodchip in specific areas of our already biodiverse area, teeming with life, wild foxes kinda special, toads & other amphibians.. even hedgehog & other rodents come around.
    Every time we find something growing that we might not want to spread, it simply goes back in root upwards & feeds the worms.
    So i might just get this schizzness sorted... watch more worms thrive_be born/lil tiny baby ones & see them become juicy red wrigglers (best compost worms here!) then all migrate to the next space where they can dine & poop. That method you got is excellent.. and goes a long way to creating the best freshness & microbes of which is required & necessary for healthy soil for all the land(s) ~ everyplace.
    ☆♡☆ gratitude and humility 🙂✌🏽

      Usually mesh on the holes, but most people claim if you make the holes small enough air still comes in but bugs don’t get in. Or they can’t get out after like a trap. Can’t speak to it, just what I’ve heard

    Does this mean that the top box should also have two bricks like the box below it? so that when the top box is full and moved to the second box, the now empty top box stands on top of the two bricks in the box containing the worms, or is it true that the initial box containing the worms was not given bricks so that there would be pressure from the top box so that the worms would move to the top? Thank You

    • @Chuychubacca
      @Chuychubacca Год назад

      That all depends. I do vermicompost inside my house and don’t have flies. If it’s too moist, too much food that rots and they can’t eat quick enough will attract flies but so long as you regularly mist it for humidity and add adequate food you could avoid it. It’s not always 100% proof but you can always add stuff to kill them off without harming the worms

    • @AndyMacaskill
      @AndyMacaskill 7 месяцев назад

      @@FindingGreenOS this is true. Boxes that height you wouldn't want to stack. I've basically done a very similar system, but I've used copper strip along the top of each box to discourage exploration beyond the boxes. I've also got it insulated to keep it temperate, and avoid it getting too hot or too cold.
