on my f22 I just tilted the mirror down and used chopsticks to gently pop the clips 👍👍👍
Better late than never (Ive only had my M140i for 6 days) Just a quick line to say thank you, being honest, the thought of breaking the glass is playing havoc with me.. Perhaps I like the original mirror shells more than I originally thought.. (naaah, one way or another they are coming off)

Worst way too many chances to crack the mirror. Easier to slip a credit card around the outside of the cap and takes less than 2 minutes
Exactly, I just cracked my mirror trying to do his method. The CC method took less time and did not require dealing with the mirror. Or use a thin long screwdriver.
