We sailed on Mariner in August 2023 and again this weekend. It is one of my favorite ships in the fleet. the MDR was ok the 2 nights we ate there last time. The ‘southern’ fried chicken is horrible, but the rest of our entrees are ok. Mariner could really do with an el loco fresh or similar casual eatery.

Gonna be on Mariner starting Saturday the 28th. Good tips on the food choices. I consider the "included" food to be nourishment, If it's fantastic then that is a bonus. New subscriber here.

Thanks. Good stuff to know. We're NCL fans and I will admit that the Anytime dining is a big draw but we are thinking of checking out other lines so we have a good comparison. Last RC cruise was on the Adventure so we're due for something more recent.

This ship is basically adventure 2.0. But there are newer ones in RC that are amazing

I had pretty much the opposite reaction to Windjammer and the MDR that you did…I tried both fairly extensively on both Ovation and Oasis and found the Main Dining room uniformly Excellent…we did not have a bad meal amongst at least six dinners as well as probably that many Brunches or lunches…while, on both ships, we found the food at the Windjammer very disappointing (we are veterans of literally dozens on visits to Las Vegas so we’re pretty much buffet experts and the two Windjammers were uniformly very Meh! (Definitely closer in quality to the $9.99 All you can eat at Circus Circus than the Bacchanal at Caesar’s!!)

So funny how it’s so different on ships

I recently went on Mariner and was shocked by how the food quality has gone down. I cruised NCL pre covid and I can't believe the food in the main dining room. Often was Dennys quality or not even. So sad!

Are soft drinks included at those included meal places, or do you need to pay extra for a soft drink

iced tea and water are included. Soda or any of that type of soft drinks are extra, unless you have a beverage plan

Isn’t there food in playmakers? Is that included?

    • @ByteSizeCruises

There is food at playmakers but it is not included. You can do ala carte or if you have a dining package there is a daily stipend for playmakers
