Did you ever own a Tiger Electronics Handheld? Let me know which ones in the comments below!
I had the X-Men and Simon's Quest. I don't think I ever beat any of them.
I did, man. I clearly remember my Double Dragon and Gauntlet ones and would love to see some more re-issues
I’ve had Double Dragon, Gauntlet, Ninja Gaiden, Karnov, Megaman 2, and Karate King.
I had Gauntlet, John Elways Quaterback, can't remember the others
had all of those my sister and i growing up i ven had the streetfighter and mk ones....we played them cause they were cheap and on the go....wouldnt pay for that garbage now !!!! we had it cause thats all there was then lol

You're right, they shouldn't bring the tiger games back
Nerd!!!
i could hear his voice
Brings me back to my childhood. Looking at the game play... this hasn't aged very well.
Raul Telles the amount of hours I put into beating the Hook Tiger Handheld game as a child was silly. The game kicked my but. Now I look back on it and chuckle at how simple it all was.
It always was outdated. Atari 2600 and even "Tennis for Two" had more gameplay and were more advanced.
yeah, those tiger games make et for atari look great
@@edgemaxxer1573 E.T for Atari is actualy pretty decent for Atari's standards. It's an 5-6/10 game.
@@cooltoy Hasbro is insane
Tiger games were garbage
They sucked back then and they suck now
Its a real shame they didn't revamp these games. Can you imagine what they could do now in 2020 with this platform? I could see a (still simplistic) but more variety of gameplay, with more sprites (or however you would call them), new backgrounds, easier to navigate game modes, better gameplay....just refreshed. Oh well
Tool Shop Guy I dig your pic. A great homage to Faxanadu.
The most love and acknowledgement SEGA’s given Sonic 3 in over a decade
Buck Bumble sad but very true
I actually have Sonic 3 in the original packaging, among many others as well. lol
Now I'm searching for this game. But I probably came years too late.
Today I bought myself a Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 LCD video game from Argos in Dublin, Ireland! I've played it and it looks ace!
I'm 30 years old and I'm still playing video games!
I thought I never had any of LCD video games by Tiger Electronics before and wish I had one as a kid.
I'm delighted to hear that Hasbro has reissued and released LCD video games under the brand Tiger Electronics.
Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
These games required a lot of imagination and appreciation for how the LCD images were permanently embedded in the screen and how Tiger used creative methods to simulate changes in what was really a static environment. These may have been marketed as a "handheld" but they were really more of an evolution of Game & Watch.
An evolution? I guess so.
I agree. Plus, I had fun with the ones I had, as they allowed us to play a version of a game when our parents were not wealthy enough to buy it alongside a certain console.
An evolution graphically, yes, but the gameplay, not really
I miss those, it’s all we had
true that!
I purchased these, lol. Maybe I'm the minority but I loved playing them then and I love playing them now. 😄
Maybe I'm odd (or just easy to please), but I have a ton of fun with these.
I had so many of these games as a kid. My favorite was X-Men, bartman and wrestlemania.
darknessstorm43 oooh I forgot about Bartman!
These were so fun back in the day. I had Baseball, Pinball, and Castlevania Simon's Quest. They were a lot of fun back in the late 80s.
Nope...
My friends got me the X-Men one for my birthday yesterday. I definitely enjoyed it for the nostalgia factor.
Great video!
I enjoyed my Sonic 3 handheld back in the day. Part of it was not owning a real game system. But part of it was seeing how much of the real game they tried to cram into it. I think I mainly enjoyed it on a meta level.
I was psyched to get sonic3 to go with my sonic2, but seeing the gameplay has crushed my memories of these being good fun😭
Great review, nice background track playing... recently bought a Space Jam Tiger handheld from 1996 not in original package but in really good condition for 50.00 I'm really in to nostalgia.
Hell yeah! Love me some Space Jam
Ooh brings back memories with tiger! Had a friend that had street fighter. I was so jealous at the time. Thanks for another great video review!
Thad Cruz I also had Street Fighter II growing up, it was really difficult lol
@@cooltoy oh hell yes it was! lol
Now it is time. Now my passion for collecting has broken out again. I want these games. So far I have only been able to collect 2 of these newly released games. Lets see how it goes on. Thank you for showing these games. Greetings from RetroGameCity 🤗☺
I still have my X-Men in the package that A friend gave me a couple years ago
I saw the Transformers, X-Men and Little Mermaid ones at GameStop today when I stopped by. Might get Sonic, X-Men and Transformers.
Thank you for remembering this. We can be both feel old and feel less bad about it because you seem okay. But serious I had these things as a kid.
I still have the Shinobi one. Don't know why I kept it, but it still works. I bought it back when our power was out for days and we only had generator power in the living room. Kept me entertained so I guess it was $20 well spent. I also still have the talking Snake's Revenge, I think those were like $25.
I may buy the X-men and transformer ones just to keep in the package for the nostalgia factor.
I used to love Tiger Handheld games! My favorite was Simon’s Quest
That was a fun a one. I was always a sucker for anything Castlevania related.
Where’s AVGN? We need a full review update
Why?
Awesome. So old school. Actually have two original Tiger Electronics (Double Dragon and Star Trek TNG) sitting on my desk. My kids love playing them.
I had a big collection of LCD games as a kid. I don’t think I remember them looking like this though. Then again, i am a 2000s kid.
I still have my Castlevania Tiger handheld, my first one was Megaman 2... so long ago
Does your Castlevania handheld still work?
@@cooltoy absolutely Simon's Quest works no problems.... you know what else I still have my original gamegear and original Gray Gameboy near mint still in the case.
I still got a Mega Man 2. The Mega Mans were pretty decent as it still had the weapon acquisition mechanic, then boss weapon weaknesses.
I have the sonic 3 and x-men. They made a second wave with spiderman, power rangers, and Jurassic park.
I'd love Double Dragon. Would be an awesome display piece and a tribute to the one I used to have.
I had preordered the Transformers one just for nostalgia, but I found out you could now play Tiger games in mame and was glad to find out it was really one of the better ones, though a bit too easy. The other day I managed to beat it in the doctor's office waiting room, so I guess it's more about getting the high score, lol.
Sonic 3 & Madden 95... the latter was a gift from my grandma at the local bodega. Hope Sonic is as good as I remember.
Its been a while since we’ve had something of Sonic 3 release. Hopefully we’ll be getting it somewhere along the line.
Boy we were easily entertained back in the day. My kids wouldn't even look at this 😂
@UberKrassMann So you think Nintendo’s Game & Watch games are garbage too.
@@Rgoid A Nintendo switch and smart watches are expensive. This stuff is like $14.99 at Walmart.
@@Rgoid the game and watches and tiger's LCDs aren't the same, one of them is good and made with love, one of them is just garbage.
I was greatful to have those as consoles were very expensive even back then
i had no idea these came out again. i know these little systems suck, but i had a bunch of them when i was kid and still do, even though i had gameboy and game gear back in the day too
I remember these! I think I had the batman and alladin one. The xmen one brings back memories of fox kids.
The first tiger game I had was Ninja Gaiden. Then I believe it was Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Others came and went. These games were an awesome alternative to Game Boy, especially when I had to go somewhere, and didn't have access to my NES. You can also buy the originals on eBay. eBay is chocked full of them.
Ppl love to hate on these but i remember then so fondly. Sad its not on their original plastic packing style
He’s gonna take me back to the past!
"Paperboy" was by far my favourite from all I've tried.
YES and I still have all of my original and NEW TIGER ELECTRONIC handheld VIDEO games 🎮 🕹
I hope they do another round and we get Gauntlet. That had a pretty decent little maze mechanic. You can even try it out in Mame if anyone is curious.
Awesome as a kid I had Double Dragon, Double Dragon 2, Mega Man and Sub Wars.
you should pick one up and make the kids play it next time they get in trouble. 😄
Dude, I remember the X-Men one like it was yesterday lol
For the record, I'm not holding my breath, but I would love to see them bring back Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
I still have a working Wheel of Fortune one that I've had since childhood. I played that thing to death on long car rides.
i remember..I never actually owned one... however i used to play these when my mom would take us to Kmart lol and she would be shopping around she would let me and my older brother chill in the toy section ..and I would play these diff games until she was done and ready to check out, then she would say go put it back where you found it xD
damn our expectations were so low back then lol.
I just got the transformers one, I always felt like they were not worth the money even as a kid but I had fun playing it today. I specifically remember the turtles one and a wrestling one but I may of had more.
The box art on these is actually really nice
I had the mega man 2 one and the...Little Mermaid one... it wasn’t my little sisters. It was line. And I rocked at that game! Always wanted the X-men one tho
Billy Bob I CTSO there was a second X-Men one I remember that had voice sounds, I always wanted that one but never saw it in stores as a kid
Ha dude loved the Timmy story. Fantastic video and definitely brings me back to my childhood. I remember having the double dragon, xmen, little mermaid
Complete Geek TV Timmy probably runs a lucrative Ophthalmology business now 😆
LOL. Staring at the sun may have payed off. Oh Timmy
These are awesome man, sometimes a video game is at its best when its stripped down to its bare bones. Leaves more for the imagination, kinda like a comic book.
cant believe tiger lcd game is the only rerelease of sonic 3 we will see for a long time
Hi cool toy I remember the tiger electronics hand held back in the 90s I glad they are back to my child hood in the 90s I love sonic 3 sonic 3is my favorite game of all time right cool toy what your favorite tiger electronics hand held game cool toy your awesome cool toy😎and keep up the good work 😃stay safe cool toy 😎
Street Fighter & Mortal kombat are the best one and they had football game one i use to like was dope to play cant remember the name tho.....nice upload bro
So CRAZY they are doing this! I got a Castlevania Simon's Quest, Lion King, Jurassic Park, Football, and Basketball one. lol. I even had the R-Zone for a while but it broke on me.
Oh man the R-Zone! I had that on my Christmas list for sure. Fortunately a neighbor or mine got it instead and I got to play it, man was I bummed out with that experience. Still thought it looked awesome, but it was a pain to play.
@@cooltoy right!! I remember my buddy having a virtual boy and I just got to play it once and that was good enough. Lol
Great games i have castlevania on tiger wonderful and enjoyed the game
I want the Virtua Cop one. That one was really unique.
No thanks! I am so glad I remember playing my Atari lynx in the 90s [and now still] but yeah I had a few as a kid and I lost them all. Still have my Lynx though. Totally worth the money I paid.
Just 2 Days Ago, I Got JURASSIC PARK
Now I'm After X-MEN and MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS
Nice great to know about these.
FYI the back screw is due to changes in kids toy safety requirements. If any range under certain age, it needs screw. Battery is choking hazard. Just look at old toys vs. new happened sometime in last 15 years
swissmrkc thanks for the tip on the screw cover, I had no idea about that being a safety requirement. Crazy how far toys have come from lawn darts being deemed safe for kids 😆
I had X-Men, Street Fighter II, Spider-Man: The Amimated Series, and Michael Jordan In Flight.
the era where the drawings on the packaging were more exciting than the game itself
These things were magical in the 90s and the late 80s now the real games they should have really really reissued is
Double Dragon , Gauntlet, Shinobi, Karnov
on Tiger🤖🐅
@Erock Hannibal They should, they really should.
@@Rgoid yes indeed
🧘🏼♂️🙏🏻☯️🐲
Damn I used to have the Larry bird vs Jordan one!! Thanks Doug gonna have to spend some more money!😉
lol fortunately these are relatively cheap
this is the epitome of tugging oh heart strings nostalgia. and at that price it’s almost a steal... but ...still not sold. but... will probably still order 😂
I had strider and I wish they reissue it because it was pretty good :)
I’m not sure but I think as kids my brother and I had three talking x-men witch I still have , sonic the hedge hog 3 and lion king .
Also if they reales four more witch ones
Do think they will rerelease?
I just ordered the Transformers one on sale $10 bucks Amazon
I hated these when I was a kid lol. Neat to see them coming back, but it's hilarious they're just remaking all these things. I saw Pogs at target today.
oh man, I had some great times as a kid hustling people on the recess playground in games of POGS 😆
POGs?!?!
Thank you my good sir, I will be shopping for these directly.
poggers !!??
Wait, seriously? Pogs actually came back?!
Is there any word of any more waves of these coming out?
can u add backlights to tiger hand helds?
I'm glad some folks enjoy these. i had so many of these as a kid and I hate them. lol The 80s portables with VFD displays were kinda cool but still they kinda suck. lol
How's the plastic quality with these 2020 remakes?! The originals were solid and hefty with good buttons as well. Apart from Transformers, there isn't really anything that I'm after here except an original Double Dragon or Simon's Quest!! Hope these come out to Australia.
the plastic quality is spot on to what the originals were. Feels the same in the hand.
I had a bowling one that was so good man I wish they bring that one back
That was one a the few that had replay value.
@@neildennis7294 The pinball one was great as well. I maxed the score several times on it.
@jommygotsoul Who knows? They just might.
I feel like these were much more fun to play than watch someone else play. I don’t feel like these would do well on today’s current streaming platforms.
Does anyone know if the Disney Afternoon shows are getting re released?
No news on any other units being released. I suspect a second wave of releases from Hasbro is dependent on how well these initial ones sell.
I wonder if considering all the Disney remakes If the rereales another batch of four if they will all be Disney .
They should have added color to them and added a recargable battery to them
These were never the best but they cured boredom hell I'd collect them
the battery door screw is a law thing toy makers need to adhere to, japanese toys can still have screw less slide mechanisms
That tells us that we live in such a bubble-wrapped society. Parents are so lazy to watch the kids to keep them safe.
Hope they re-release Rambo and TMNT, to yes, torment the kid lol. Great review!
I think they should of just did a 2020 upgrade versions on these instead of taking us back to the 90s rechargeable batteries ,backlight, atleast cell phone graphics I wouldnt have mind buying one or two of these
Cannot get these in UK typical
My female cousin had two called Bo Jackson Football
and Fast Break with Magic Johnson basketball
Never liked these and never bought or had any of them. I have seen them a few times at yard sales over the years and wish I would've known they could be worthwhile to pick up. Re-release is cool for certain people, but not this guy. Thanks for the review 👍
Great review, COOLTOY! But how do these Tiger Electronics hold up against the RG350? LOL
😄
I had a couple of these and even back then they felt like trash. I remember double dragon where you jump kicked for like 5 seconds. Think I also had Castlevania. Probably played about all of them though with all my friends. I even had that tiger system that tried to copy the virtual boy although I bought it dirt cheap at a JCpennies outlet.
screw cover is probably to prevent kids from taking that off and swallowing a battery. Smart of them to add that security feature to prevent lawsuits.
I played with the original handhelds my entire childhood, never swallowed a battery once 🤷
@@cooltoy that's more to prevent kids 2-3 years old and younger from swallowing one. Most baby toys have screws on battery covers for the same reason. If a kid swallows a battery they could potentially die.
I remember owning the Mega man 3 handheld
subscribed now..good vid. i found this vid while looking into the transformers game after seeing it going for cheap on Amazon. blast from the past. I remember having 2 of these kinda handhelds when I was a kid manyyy yrs ago. Paperboy & the Bo Jackson 2 game handheld..had 2 screens..1 side was baseball..flip it upside down and it was football. anyone remember that?
SUPER GOOD VIDEO BRO!!!!
Not gonna lie, the Transformers one actually looked kinda fun.
ComradeRops it’s definitely the most playable out of the 4
Loved it when mcdonalds did mini sonic ones of these
DUDE! I have got to get me one of these!
which one strikes your fancy?
@@cooltoy honestly, the X-men handheld.
i had a congo movie one with a sweet built in light great memories
Nice! I almost forgot about those upgraded ones that had the light on top. Those were pretty neat.
COOLTOY they were pretty sweet maybe tiger will brings those ones back down the road
Can we please find out what happened to Little Timmy? I'm concerned about that headache...
He shot up a school and was gunned down. I think the school was called sandy hook or something.
I have the Xmen handheld.
At least they didnt rerelease the rzone, 99x, grip games or the gamecom or whatever
Wish to take back ninja gaiden and shinobi they are great games of those days
Now to wait for AVGN to find out about these things
