Agree with Gel-1130 being the best bang for your buck.
I found the Gel NYC to be very narrow, specifically crowding my pinky toe. Even going up a half size it didn't feel comfortable enough so I had to return it.

The original 1906r came with entirely different sole same with the 2002r but over time new balance lost the mold I guess and adopted for the 860v2 sole

Good review of this type of sneaker. Personally I prefer the Nike P-6000. Very comfortable and my feet sit well in the shoe with no toe bunching
