I love this recipe, it became my go to cookies to make. It's always a huge hit for everyone I make or gift them. I use 5 to 10g less sugar because I like things just slightly sweet but I think it'll be already the perfect amount of sugar for most people as it's not overly sweet at all.
Placing the cookie dough rolls onto a bed of rice to maintain their roundness while they chill is ingenious! Thank you for sharing such a brilliant idea!
i watched the entire video even though i knew i wouldnt be making them, because its so refreshing to have a video that i dont have to skip through the unnecessary chatter, listen to annoying, overpowering background music, and didnt have filler to draw the video out for time i like the clean, straight to the point, precise nature of this video
Made these cookies after checking ur videos & it is delicious! I made the first batch matcha without the chocolate chips. Then another batch changed matcha to grounded walnut & vanilla. It taste so good & has a crispy texture with the nuts inside. Thank you for your video! 😘
made this one couple of days ago and my whole family loved it thank you so so much for that recipe and your work watching your videos only has such a calming and meditating effect
just made them, and they were super tasty! heads up for anyone making them: they're not like chewy, american cookies, but a bit more dry and crumbly. perfect for dipping in tea!
I am so glad I found this recipe. My younger sister is turning 16 on sunday and she absolutely loves anything with Matcha Green Tea. I can't wait to make them for her!
I know it's been 6 years since you posted this but I just discovered and the cookies were amazing! Super well explained. I love matcha more than anything else in this world and the cookies are delicious. I just swapped the white chocolate for dark chocolate because I prefer that and they turned out great. I need to practice how to roll them, I made them a bit thin I think but no problem. It was kinda hard too because it's so hot here in Spain that the moment you work with the dough it just softens so much. Will gladly do them again and maybe add other ingredients like nuts. Thank you!
I tried it! Your video is so well done that even if is the first time of my life I bake cookies (never tried any kind before) the results were so goooooid! Thanks!
absolutely love this recipe! no exaggeration when I say its the best cookie recipe I have ever used. definitely an all time favorite I have baked with numerous times, and will most likely continue with for years to come. perfect textures and flavours, my family and i can never stop eatinf them. many thanks for sharing! :)
Amazing Recipe ! 1st time I taste something with matcha and I'm not disappointed. Now I'm a fan of Matcha green tea in the afternoon. It's so hard to find coffee shops who sell cakes and sweets with matcha in my city. I made these cookies with dark chocolate chips a long time ago. And a few days ago I had some white chocolate so I used it and it is way more tasty with white chocolate. Thank you for this recipe. Your videos are amazing !
I made these cookies and they are delicious!! The dough also freezes very nicely. I love your recipes and can't wait to bake these and the melon pan again.
i made this, super delicious. isnt too sweet. it tastes better on the second day. the white chocolate makes it sweet so if yall dont put so much it'd be fine :D!!
Will totally try this. Just stumbled on this recipe. I love matcha green tea. Just had a latte with almond milk coincidently. 😁. Will let you know how they come out.
Just finished. Unfortunately my cookies are a little dry but i think is question of practice....by the way...very very yummy! Thank you sooooo much for this beatiful recipe!!!
I'm glad you liked the taste. I'm not sure if you used a kitchen scale, but I highly recommend using it if you didn't. 1 cup of four can be different by how you measure it. That can make the dough too dry. :)
I make the green tea cookies today. It is delicious. However,I found the dough will break apart easily after sliced with knife. I keep the dough in fridge over night. I suspected the causes were due to chocolate chip not mix evenly and not press firm enough before wrap with wrapper. Sure will make again due to it is very yummy.
I agree! I reduced (a lot) the amount of white chocolate chips already from the original recipe. The white chocolate is really nice touch in these cookies, so I still recommend using them. :)
Your blog stated "If you pack the cookies in an airtight container, they will keep for at least 4 days.". I wonder it can keep up to 2 weeks? Because I wish to make it as CNY cookies for my family. It is another 1week to go before CNY.
I tried to bake this last night. it came out okay... I think I used too much matcha because it did have a bitter tea taste to it. I also used milk chocolate because I had trouble finding white chocolate chips. I also used 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. My dough also was dry, I added milk so it would all stick together. Overall I think this is a great recipe for those who do not have a super sweet tooth and have all proper ingredients. I will try this again when I have it all together. :)
Japanese sweets (both Japanese style and western style) are not too sweet compared to American or western sweets in general. :) Hope you give it a try with right ingredients. White chocolate is used to give sweetness without giving too much chocolate flavor (it's overpowering matcha flavor). The good matcha quality gives slight sweetness to it, but yellow-greenish (indication of low grade) gives very bitter taste. Hope this helps! :)
I just found this recipe and it looks so great in the video haha :) i just don't know why my dough came out crumbly so i kept adding more butter until it became slightly formed and more stuck together...overall it tastes great i was just wondering if you have any advice so that when i make it next time it wouldnt be so dry.. Thanks!!
They look delicious! I can't wait to make some. Hopefully I can substitute the egg yolk and the butter. My sister is lactose and it's not fun when you can't share it with everyone. I'm so excited to try it, I've been itching to bake something😁!
Amazing recipe, tried it for the first time and turned out great. Even tastes like store bought cookies. But i guess the sugar is a bit too much for me. One other thing is that the dough doesnt really bind well whether before or after refrigerating. I dont think its necessarily because of the choc chips, the dough itself breaks verg easily. Ended up rolling them into balls and flattening them instead of cutting them. Still, this is a great recipe. Will try this again sometime.
Hi Vanessa! Thank you for your kind feedback. I'm glad yours came out well. Yeah, we're used to eating matcha cookies by itself without white chocolate in it. These are not as sweet as American cookies, but they are perfect sweetness for us.
I'd love to try this recipe, it looks so delicious! But matcha powder is extremly expensive in my country. Even the one you used (linked) costs around 33$ here.
Yikes! SO sorry to hear that. I hope one day you can get matcha at affordable price. Some online shops sell "cheaper" matcha, but the quality is not very good. The matcha is very yellowy green and not vivid matcha color.
At Japanese grocery store, it sells about $30 for drinking (lower grade of tea ceremonial matcha) for 1 oz. For baking and cooking use, $8 for 1 oz. Similar price in Japan too, just have more level of quality...

Made these at school in cooking class. Nobody would eat them cause they were green and just made fun of them. They were delicious though!
That's a weird reason for not trying a cookie - tf?
@@sherry6588 completely

There just matcha

How did it go? I'd say 2 weeks is a bit much, taste and texture would definitely be altered.
Costco also sells matcha powder for a good price! In Canada it’s $20. In USA maybe around $15
