Best of all times. There was a magic at his every touch of the ball. We all used to be enchanted when we watch him live. New generation people don't know anything about Maradona and they can not see his magic. What a shame. I feel so lucky to watch him live back in the 80's and until mid 90s. Rest in Peace DIEGO. You will never be forgotten.
Messi is brilliant and his stats are rediculous compared to Maradona but Maradona never had such brilliant players around him, like Messi has. Maradona won the WC86 practically on his own and no player has ever achieved that. He did the same in Napoli, a team that had never won the league. I've never seen a player that was techically so gifted and that could make the impossible possible with the teams he played for. When Maradona played, everyone felt the excitement even before the game. He had the charisma, leadership and magic. This guy was something else and I've never seen anyone like him to this dat. So yes: Messi is brilliant for sure but Maradona was just pure magic. For me, het is the real GOAT.
Yes. You can't fully assess or judge players from the past just from looking at stats, videos or tape. People/kids today just looking at videos from past games don't 'get' or feel the vibe and emotions greats like Diego gave when they were playing live. It must have been something similar with Pele, or let's say, Di Stefano or Puskas. For their times and in their own eras, they all must have been fantastic footballers. It would be fair to say Diego Maradona is iconic as a football player.
@sebastiencrusener4968 You took my thoughts and put them in writing. Thank you. Diego was pure magic , yes ‘magic’ is the word. I have seen people crying when he pass away, the emotions, the love they felt cannot be described. Imagine anyone of today’s fans crying when Messi or Ronaldo or any of the stars today are gone.
Maradona saying Rijkaard was better than Van Basten or Gullit says enough about his knowledge of the game..... this, in a weird way, shows how unbelievable he was himself.....
Hungary's Golden Team of the 1950s was probably the best. In six years, they lost just one game. They beat England 7-1, West Germany 8-3, Brazil 4-2. We'd never seen the top teams, of that period, beaten so comprehensively.
Yes .. but Maradona was born in 1960 so didn't see them playing. Perhaps he thought the 74 Dutch played more magical football than 70s Brazil. However, one thing is common. The 54 Hungary and 74 Holland both failed at the last hurdle to the Germans!
The problem nowadays, in my opinion, is the ‘professionalism’ creating a lack of flair. Players don’t want to make a mistake for fear of being pulled apart on tv. It’s yards covered, passes made, etc, rather than how many times did the player get us out of our seats.. Not all, but the majority of games at the top level are rather boring, because there is a pattern of play throughout the game. Yes there’s skill and technique, but it’s wrapped up in a 90 minute safety zone. And now we have the added bonus of VAR to deaden the excitement even more..
Yup, football had become mechanical and rehearsed. Long gone are the "midfield maestros" of 80's and beyond. Where it was once an art, football has become a science. What it's gained in professionalism, it's lost in spontaneity, and the genius of the individual is now subsumed in the safety of the collective. You might as well watch FIFA AI play against each other. It's all patterns of plays, phases, training ground scenarios etc. The Brazil of the 90's will never return. The money at stake has nudged clubs towards their business interests above the sports side, and players with sky high salaries have become are incentivised more by money than by the badge. As soldiers fighting for their country, players of previous generations would fight for their clubs. Now money has turned them into mercenaries who simply go with the highest bidder. Loyalty means nothing and the romance of football is buried under piles of cash. That said I'm still watching the PL and WC, but they will never be the same again.
But how do you explain the sheer number of goals caused by defensive errors, rather than due to great attacking play, compared to past eras? Even statistically, more goals have been conceded on average in the last decade than the 2 decades before in the champions league. What you're describing was more a case in the 80's in the Serie A than it is today.
@@Ganstaz003 Hear what you’re saying, but again you’re talking statistics. I’m talking about flair, panache, bravery. Maybe the reason I find it boring nowadays is because I’m 45, and just seen too much of it! I find I can’t even watch Match of the Day because of the predictablity of the football and predictable punditry! 😂

By 1986 Maradona had become Cruyff, Van Hanegem, as well as Pele, all in one. What inspiration can do! Funny that he then mentions Barcelona, which is based on the philosophy brought by Cruyff. Maradona in 1986 was from another planet. Nobody ever came close to that level. Cruyff was the player who most impacted the way the game is played today.
@God is Here You seriously just quoted that Madrid side as one of the best teams ever?? ...think youve played enough Fifa for one night, now off to bed.
@God is Here 2017 and 2018, Real Madrid 'punished' nobody. Referee robbed Bayern Munich in 17 (a washed up and an aging Bayern side who Madrid needed multiple offside goals to beat) and Juventus in 2018. So they only managed 2 legitimate UCL's, not four. Furthermore, how many La Ligas did Real madrid win and defend during that period? Only one? pathetic! Capital of Spain wins less La Ligas than the capital of a non-Spanish Catalan city in Barcelona. Let that sink in! Best club side is arguably Liverpool from 1977-1984 if we go by trophies. Not only did they win the champions league 4 times (like Real Madrid), they won more than 1 league title, a pathetic amount for Real. Brazil 2002-2005 is probably the most talented side individually ever.

Absolutely fabulous team...Hungary of Ferenc Puskas
That was before Cruijff/michels chanced football. Before 70th is was slow motion.
@@waso778and before 1994, 1974 also slow motion 😂

Absolutely!
IDOLO EL DIEZ!!! Otro como el no sale nunca mas...
The soccer died when he died period 👑
Well he is the best of all time. No one comes even close and never will
The problem nowadays, in my opinion, is the ‘professionalism’ creating a lack of flair.
genius of 20th century
The best team selected by France Football recently and Johan Cruyff wasn't selected. Disgrace.
so we can consider France Football one big joke! 😀 😉
like Al Bundy said: ' Am I the only one in hating the French?" Everybody: "Noooooo".
To bad Cruyff hated van Beveren and made sure he wouldn't get called up by the coach. If van Beveren was the goalkeeper they would have won the world cup in 74'.
Brasil 1970, Holanda 1974, Brasil 1982. Esos esquipos fueron incomparables.
bacelona ib the golden days was not just Messi,Iniesta and Chavi were a big plus with their efforts in the field ,adding the general picture of the team and Messi
Reporter : do you think you are the greatest footballer of all time
Don Diego : absolutamente
Gosh I love this man look at his personality his confidence
Thanks Maradona
Great compliment for the Dutch team of 74
Didn't know Maradona said this. I'm dutch and proud now.
Maradona had good taste. Total football. ❤
Holland 74, Brazil 70/82, Milan 89/90, Barcelona 11/13
@God is Here You seriously just quoted that Madrid side as one of the best teams ever?? ...think youve played enough Fifa for one night, now off to bed.
@@moz7777 You forget to mention Liverpool fc, 1977 - 1985 💪😎💪
Sacchi's Milan 89/90....perhaps the greatest
Ajax 72
Holland 1974
Brazil 1970
Brazil 1982
Hungary 1950
France 1998
My top 5 all time great teams🙏🙏
Maradona
Pele
Cryuff
Messi
Both the Ronaldos...
My top 5 all time great players🙏🙏
"Absolutamente!!!"
I like the way he holds the cup.
He should be on ther because his the greatest ever footballer. MARADONA
Always the Joker what a Legend .♥️♥️♥️
Best team ever is Brazil 1970 and most football experts ,historians agree Brazil 1970 is the greatest World Cup team ever with Pele ,jairzinho ,clodadaldo, toastao, gerson, riverlino ,Carlos Alberto, everaldo,, but he's not going to say or admit that as a Argentinain
Brazil 1970 the first and only team to win all their World Cup games and score the most World Cup goals ever
Brazil 19970 no contest best ever
And then Brazil 1982 the most entertaining ,beautiful and most spectacular team ever hands down
Zico ,Robeto Roberto Falcao , Socrates ,Eder ,junior tonhino ,cerezo, , junior , Leandro ,Oscar Luzinho ,serginho
Most spectacular and most beautiful goals in World Cup history .
Good points, and I agree for the most part. But I still feel that the Brazil team of 1958 might argue with you!
He was 10 years old age when the World Cup of Mexico 1970. He was too young to see that world cup, also he was so poor, (no TV for sure at his house) I think he could not watch any game of that world cup, and also Argtentina did not participate. Argentinians when Brazilians play well admit that they are better than us...
The best brasillian team is 82, shame they didn’t win anything
Erlend Flatmo 👍🏻 Brazil 82 played the finest football to watch ever
sorry chris but your opinion does not really count ;-) the question is to Diego
The best football player ever
And then the Germans come arround and take the cup home.
But Diego is right: Absolutamente!
Not true. 86 not. And 1990 it was a stolen game for the reunification of Germany. Germany can dream of having a player like him or Messi but they can’t.
@@dgdg6143 I´m talking about Germany - Netherlands 1974.
Where was Messi in 2014? Where was Maradona in 1990?
It´s not about having a star player. Football is a teamsport.
Germany won 4 World Cups, 4 times second and 4 times 3rd. 8
Finals! So we don´t need a messi or Maradonna.
And i agreed with Diego. He was the best.
I guess Holland 1974 proved you dont need to actually win the cup to be remembered in history.
@@thomasaivaliotis7081 Indeed. Great Team with legendary players and a revolutionary style of football.
#Maradona Patrimonio de la Humanidad
I watched other video (before Messi became the best) where Maradona was asked if he or pele was the greatest.
He replied: 'My mother said I was the best ever'
No one can hate Diego, put his personal habits aside.

Lets remember the legend Maradona. Although I disagree with his idea that football standard is down. The problem is tactical. It become more complicated as it develop with time. Therefore the game itself become more restricted to the new ideas and invention such as 70s and 80s
Don't miss the last second of this video!
He knows a lot.
Of course. He's one of the greatest footballers ever, his understanding of football is amazing.
Absolutely true.
