Hell, just make it a big hallway with a few desks and bookcases and now it’s a family study. Put some easels up in there. Idk it really disappoints me when she’s too focused on it being perfect instead of like… doing the challenge.
Yeah! Or just an attic that’s a half room half storage system (I’m not a good builder so that idea might be terrible 😅)! I would’ve made that room into a workout room/artist studio/desks/gaming systems (maybe the person living there is just an artist since it was just originally one room). Maybe she could’ve put it outside and made it into an indoor pool room (idk if that counts)
Kayla you should’ve just kept the big room, I would’ve loved to see how you’d furnish it. It could’ve been a shared bedroom for twins or triplets, or the most extra master bedroom ever or something
or maybe a challenge where simsie randomly generates the sizes of like 5 or 6 rooms and it's part of the challenge to arrange the rooms into a shape that makes sense (for the build at least). usual shell challenge rules still stand i.e. you can't change the shape/dimension of the rooms and you must use every room, but outside of that anything goes
Maybe if you do this challenge again in the future, you could leave the giant rooms as is and try to create "walls" with furniture. I'd like to see how something like that turns out 😄
Spandrels and columns can go a long way, and halfwalls can create a lot of separation. I don't think it would be cheating to create a wall long enough to make it a spandrel.
I would love to see some kind of challenge inception monstrosity where you build a house using every room is a different size, then furnish it using every room is a different budget/color, so like flip a coin for either budget or color, then use a randomized to generate the budget or color depending on what got flipped for each room. The house would be an embodiment of chaos.
She didn't actually follow the rules of the challenge which made it really unsatisfying and frustrating to me! It's not about making the house look nice this challenge! It's about the chaos so just make it happen!
@@analucialopez6050 Same. Tapped out at 7:15 after she'd added patios of random size and then changed the rules instead of building a third floor or a basement with the rolls she did get. Wish she'd just have fun with it instead of trying to always build a pretty suburban.
That giant room could have been a basement, but we know she never likes to put those in builds. Also, I guess she IS from Florida, where they don't have a native concept of having a room UNDER your house.
Yeah, in Florida, a basement is just something to be flooded. I, in contrast in the midwest, build my dream house and the first thing I put in there is a basement with a room that has nothing on the walls so I can hide there during tornado warnings.
I feel like she could have made the giant room either a third floor as a giant attic or a basement and then it would of been okay to keep it massive and fill it with random items. Could be an option if this happens again lol
The fun part of this challenge is the challenging room sizes. It would've been interesting to see how you use that giant room and make it look nice using dividers or plants. By bending the rules like that you took the fun and challenging aspect away. 😥
If you were to do this again, I think you should nominate which room you're finding the sizes for, so you could end up with a massive bathroom and tiny kitchen? Loved this video! xx
The downstairs is nice but let’s be honest the entire upstairs didn’t fit the challenge. It was basically just Kayla creating a floor plan she wanted. Wished she used the big room. The chaos is the point.
Very thankful for you Kayla, I'm glad youtubers like you prepare videos ahead of time so people like me who sit around on youtube all day still have new content to watch while yall can still enjoy your holidays and have some time off
I was hoping the big space upstairs would’ve been a loft! And the big room she got that she cheated away could have been another loft on a third floor or a basement. I hate being that person but I wish she had stuck with the rules because it could’ve been fun!
For that monstrous room, you could just use it as a basement. Have it like a garage, laundry, skill building space. You could even make it an indoor pool. Just saying.
I usually love these challenges, this one wasn't as fun for me. the fun of the challenge is that you get random sized rooms.. when you change it up & don't follow the rules, it's basically just another house build 🤷🏾♀️
@@ellabella3469 that really irked me. I just did this challenge. I got an 8x4 bathroom for the first floor. It is the MOST LUXURIOUS downstairs bathroom. Shower, bath, spa area, vanity. It just makes it so boring cheat8ng the whole time on a joke challenge.
I would love to see this again with more rules: Idea 1- Start with 1-10 and after every roll, remove the numbers from that roll so that every room is a different size. Idea 2 - Go by a list of rooms so like the first roll will be the living room, second roll the bathroom, 3rd roll the kitchen, etc
I'm so mad right now, Kayla could have moved the 10 by 7 up to the front, then put the 4 by 8 in the back and it would all fit so nicely. I just wish I could tell her right now.
I do agree, however it is more easy, and definitely more comfortable to stick with what you know and are good at. Imagine loving the color blue, like your walls and clothing is all blue, and coming home and everything is green. It would feel unnatural. I’m not saying that she shouldn’t try new things, (everyone should try something different ), but I’m just trying to explain my view on this.
You should spin a wheel for the room type. Then randomise the size of the room. For added fun you could use a colour generator for the colour theme of the room aswell.
I would've totally been fine with making that big room a loft like you tried and said was "cheating", I feel like it would be less cheating than breaking it up.
Hmm, I think if you had a small room and put it completely within the big room, not touching any walls, it would count and not be cheating, because you won't be cutting off any of the wall length. Then the smaller room could be some sort of divider. Like you could have a bed on one side and then a fancy closet on the other with a bathroom in the middle.
The 8x1... Delete the side of the staircase. 5x8... Could make it a basement, or an attic. I'd make that huge up stair room a dormitory. Just throw in 5 or 6 bunk beds, a few end tables and you're set.
Merry Christmas Simsie & family! Hopefully this build goes up on the gallery; this challenge feels perfectly produces base game "ea builds" and the renovation options feel endless
this build is fantastic, but my favorite thing about kayla is how comfortable she is with the camera and her viewers. you can tell she loves what she does and it makes the watching experience so much better :)
You should do videos where you repair your challenge builds like this! Like keeping the essence of the house but adjusting sizes to make it make more sense
This build looks amazing! I am loving to see Kayla using lots of packs. She got rid of the blue suburbans and now they are so much more creative! And also, it really looks like she's having a great time doing it
I think it would be interesting to do something like this but instead randomize a number of total tiles. That way you can be more flexible with the shapes of the rooms and not everything is a box (therefore it might be easier to get a decent shape for the exterior at the least), but there's still challenge; maybe there could be anywhere from 4 tiles for an entire room to 100 tiles for one room. You still might end up with massive or tiny rooms that are awkward shapes to make them fit too!
I enjoy that you didnt decide the room before you rolled, that gave you a lot more freedom to make it. Could you also try one where you roll all the rooms, piece it together like a puzzle and then do the rooms after, more like a shell challenge?
It is so fun seeing the difference in sim builders' default styles. Like, Simsie has the "blue suburban" (which she is growing out of, congrats!!). And then there's me, with pseudo-Victorian influence and a penchant for shotgun houses. (Houses where there's a straight, open line from the front door to the back door, typically in the form of a hallway.)
I think you could style this out with like an uber modern stacked boxes vibe like each room has a different siding direction like alternating. Idk if it would work but thats definitely the direction I'd go in
Maybe you could spin 2 different room sizes each time and get to choose which one of the two you keep so it can be a little more fun & practical to have some type of options
Kayla, don't worry about pleasing the haters you build what you want, change the challenge if you want!! Play for yourself not to please everyone (it's impossible I've tried) 😅Love you❤ you are talented!!!

21:52 If you don't mind possibly having mismatched styles you can place a horizontal or small square window between the counters and cabinets. It gives some natural light to the prep space and multiple base game options fit neatly in the space. If it looks odd to have a single window in a different style I swap out some others to match like using similar windows for the kitchen and bathrooms (which usually have smaller windows anyway) while keeping bedrooms and living room in the larger style.
kayla PLEASE upload this onto the gallery! i genuinely want to use this build for my current legacy challenge i’m not even joking. how do you kill it every single time?!?
I really liked this video! I find it amusing to watch Simsie trying to make it look good even though it's a very tricky challenge, and it worked out pretty well at the end!
I’d love to see you do a number randomizer for the amount of objects in a room. So, if you’re furnishing the kitchen and you roll a two, you can only have 2 objects in the kitchen.
Would the items include necessary appliances or is that after functional necessities are filled? Like would the kitchen have just a fridge and counter or fridge, counter, a small appliance, and deco? The former would make life interesting if a bathroom rolled 1.
