I can't believe Switch has arguably the best of their franchises all on once console. Arguably the best 2D Mario, best 3D Mario, 2D Metroid, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash, Luigi's Mansion, Kirby. It's amazing.
Overall great list, however here are a few games that were omitted that I would include in a list like this: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Super Mario Maker 2, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Doom, and Undertale/Deltarune.
The Ori's, "Donkey Kong the Tropical Freeze" , "Luigi's Mansion 3" and "Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon" should have been in this list in my opinion!
Let's be honest: there are a great many games that should have been on this list, but this really just speaks to the high quality catalog that this system has built since 2017.
I love the Ori games, and I got the physical version of Will of the Whisps for the Switch (hope to get the first one too), but it doesn't feel quite right to play it at 720p; those games are meant to be played at 4k on the Xbox with it's controller
People forget that Stardew Valley was in the eshop charts top 5 for more than TWO years! That game sold gangbusters on the Switch and is probably still selling well to this day.
man your channel is easily my favorite channel so far, ive been playing Nintendo console/games since i was 4 but stopped at 14+ to Xbox and then PC now im strictly PC & Nintendo again and it feels so good getting away from mainstream multiplayer games. absolutely love it so refreshing and your channel really helps out a lot keep up the great work!
Great list! My personal bias is sad that neither of the two Fire Emblem games made it on the list, but I realize FE is one of the bigger Nintendo IPs that isn’t everyone’s jam
Seeing Ghost Trick randomly crop up in the middle of this list made me so happy ^_^ It's a game that's got the great and humorous character writing of Ace Attorney, fantastic animation, a wonderful art style, a toe-tapping soundtrack and most importantly... the story is short, and fast-paced and entirely gripping. I've had friends who don't usually have the patience for VNs play through this to the end and have a really good time with it. So sufficed to say... I think it's a fantastic and accessible time! I've definitely got a lot of nostalgic bias, granted: I've also played this game through on the DS, on IOS and through an emulator on Android countless times over the years before the recent remaster. With that being said htough; to anyone who's at all curious about the game, I'd definitely recommend giving the demo a whirl and see what you think :)

The fact that Astral chain isn't on this list is criminal. It's objectively better than many of the games on this list. It's extremely fun and one of the best looking games on the system. Oh and it's a switch exclusive.
Metroid Prime Remastered was ultimately garbage, but somehow it ended up on this list. It has modestly superior graphics to the original, and the original was not a great game. Nintendo fanatics don't know the difference between a good game and an incredibly boring game
Best Nintendo library all titles considered? FS but best Nintendo published library? Fat chance, that's a damn high bar... It has to be a SNES or 64. GameCube might even be better than the switch. Half of the best Switch Nintendo games are actually Wii U games. It's definitely the best console ports from 3rd party's Nintendo has ever had no question tho
@@alibabaschultz352 eh. Paper Mario, Metroid prime 1 +2. Never played them but Pikmen 1 +2, best Mario kart until 8 which is a Wii U game... Sunshine > Odyssey IMO but maybe not Wonder? Idk I haven't played it yet. Animal crossing crosses out animal crossing and TP and WW are roughly equal if not slightly less than BOTW and TOTK but unlike BOTW TP is arguably better on the older hardware than it was on Wii. Which is a W for the Switch but not as much as it is for the GC. I much prefer the switch and didn't even have a GC growing up but most if not all Nintendo's game franchises outside of Mario and Zelda really were firmly established on GC. For the sample size I think GC exclusives had a higher batting average than the Switch.
I would add 13 Sentinels, Nier Automata, Mario Maker 2, Ori 1, Ori 2, Fire Emblem 3 houses, Rayman Legends, DKC Tropical Freeze, Sonic Mania and Portal Collection. I would not play Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal at Switch. I don't think Switch versions are good representations of those games. They are just functional.
Good list! Definitely some stuff I would put on that list: * Towerfall - my absolute favorite multiplayer experience on the Switch. The fun and replay-ability of this game are indescribable. * Limbo - it's old, and it's on every platform imaginable, but it's my second favorite game of all time, so it deserves to be here. * Into The Breach - probably most of my actual, non-idle hours on the Switch were sunk into this game. Brilliant strategy game that is infinitely replay-able.

Your high ceiling would be perfect for a studio lighting grid. That way you can have your lights pre set up and just have to turn on the ones you need for that angle you're shooting at. Just a thought 🖤
I actually prefer The Switcher III: Wild Hunt to the other versions. The necessary sacrifices to get it running well on Switch made for a softer presentation with environments that have almost a watercolor look to them. I prefer that to the way the other versions strive for realistic environments but don't quite get there.
This. Also Hogwarts Legacy, I didn't like how weirdly bright and fuzzy the XBOX One version was, but the Switch one has had me playing for days, sometimes less is more.
By now the Switch has such a good library NL really should be doing a Top 50 or even Top 100 ranked list. Make it 2 hours long and I’d still watch it. Also get some shoot ‘em ups in there, the genre has had a massive resurgence recently and a huge number of great ‘shmups’ are available on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
I like the fact that midway through the video you popped up, and I could actually see who it was that was narrating. With so many AI videos and clips out there it’s nice to know human is still doing this kind of stuff.

I didn’t know much about Portal 2 when I got it on PS3 (years after it came out) except that everyone raved about it. I got addicted to that game and finished it, and I bought it immediately when it was ported to the Switch

Even big fans of 3 houses admitted a big flaw in the game that hurts replayability (and even first playthrough): the daily stuff you almost "have" to do in the monastery, not very inspired tasks for the most part. Also it's a 31 top list, many games can't make it. For instance, DK tropical freeze is almost as good and fun as Mario bros Wonder, but is not in the list. F-Zero 99 is crazy good too, but is not in the list. Etc.

Ori 2 -- the only game in my Switch library that I was sad didn't make it on here. I'll admit it took a little while for the game to rev up, but damn, every boss fight, every power-up, every chase/escape sequence is so satisfying and fun, plus it's one of the few games whose ending made me truly cry. No I don't mean moist-eyes "🥺", I mean like waterfall-eyes "😭" crying.

Why do so many people now consider Super Mario 3D World an “absolute classic”? I remember when it came out and got SO much hate. Most people considered it the low end of 3D Mario games, while I constantly defended it. So, why is it now a classic? I hope that’s how most people feel now. The Galaxy games are by far my favorite 3D Mario’s, but I’d put 3D World next, then Odyssey, 3D Land, 64, and Sunshine last. I just don’t get why 3D World was so looked down upon, when it released.

@Paul_McSeol when I bought Kingdom Battle, it was right after I got my switch, and it was the deluxe version. I was sold, simply off the concept of mario with guns. And Sparks of hope ended up being one of the bigger releases of the the year for me personally when it was coming out due to how much I liked kingdom battle.

A genuine crime that Three Houses isn't on here. I don't like putting last gen ports on lists like this but since you included Portal and 3D World then Tropical Freeze should absolutely be on here too.
My favorite Nintendo Switch games have to be Super Mario Odyssey, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars, Miitopia, Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario RPG, Kirby Star Allies, WWE 2K18, and Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe those are my favorite switch games i played on the Switch.

Skyward sword has a love/hate relationship. It's decent but not top list worthy compared to others.
A fellow skyward sword enjoyer in the wild! But yeah it’s the fourth best Zelda game on the switch. I would put la over it.

Metroid Prime Remastered was ultimately garbage, but somehow it ended up on this list. It has modestly superior graphics to the original, and the original was not a great game. Nintendo fanatics don't know the difference between a good game and an incredibly boring game

Best Nintendo library all titles considered? FS but best Nintendo published library? Fat chance, that's a damn high bar... It has to be a SNES or 64. GameCube might even be better than the switch. Half of the best Switch Nintendo games are actually Wii U games. It's definitely the best console ports from 3rd party's Nintendo has ever had no question tho

@@alibabaschultz352 eh. Paper Mario, Metroid prime 1 +2. Never played them but Pikmen 1 +2, best Mario kart until 8 which is a Wii U game... Sunshine > Odyssey IMO but maybe not Wonder? Idk I haven't played it yet. Animal crossing crosses out animal crossing and TP and WW are roughly equal if not slightly less than BOTW and TOTK but unlike BOTW TP is arguably better on the older hardware than it was on Wii. Which is a W for the Switch but not as much as it is for the GC. I much prefer the switch and didn't even have a GC growing up but most if not all Nintendo's game franchises outside of Mario and Zelda really were firmly established on GC. For the sample size I think GC exclusives had a higher batting average than the Switch.

I would add 13 Sentinels, Nier Automata, Mario Maker 2, Ori 1, Ori 2, Fire Emblem 3 houses, Rayman Legends, DKC Tropical Freeze, Sonic Mania and Portal Collection.
I would not play Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal at Switch. I don't think Switch versions are good representations of those games. They are just functional.
Good list! Definitely some stuff I would put on that list:
* Towerfall - my absolute favorite multiplayer experience on the Switch. The fun and replay-ability of this game are indescribable.
* Limbo - it's old, and it's on every platform imaginable, but it's my second favorite game of all time, so it deserves to be here.
* Into The Breach - probably most of my actual, non-idle hours on the Switch were sunk into this game. Brilliant strategy game that is infinitely replay-able.
Oh and Luigi's Mansion 3!!! How could I forget?

LM3 and chain r superb. Rabbids not as great imo. List is good, altho the switch library is so vast and has so many good games it is tuff to choose.
Suprised Tunic gets slept on so much and wasnt included. Definitely my GOTY of 2022, and now it has a switch version! Amazing game would definitely recommend.

Dragon Quest XI, SMT V, Luigi's Mansion, Astral Chain, FE Three Houses, Nier Automata. I know it's randomized, but if I could I would put all of those in the top 20 of an organized list. DQ XI and SMT V in the top 10. Any of those should replace Super Mario RPG. Astral Chain should replace Bayonetta 3.
I would make a Switch exclusive list, because the fact that these downgraded mulitplats got on this list above Luigi’s Mansion 3 is criminal.

I actually prefer The Switcher III: Wild Hunt to the other versions. The necessary sacrifices to get it running well on Switch made for a softer presentation with environments that have almost a watercolor look to them. I prefer that to the way the other versions strive for realistic environments but don't quite get there.

Also Hogwarts Legacy, I didn't like how weirdly bright and fuzzy the XBOX One version was, but the Switch one has had me playing for days, sometimes less is more.

Wii U game
By now the Switch has such a good library NL really should be doing a Top 50 or even Top 100 ranked list. Make it 2 hours long and I’d still watch it. Also get some shoot ‘em ups in there, the genre has had a massive resurgence recently and a huge number of great ‘shmups’ are available on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
What I love about Nintendo Life is that you guys make me appreciate the switch a lot more and make me want to play it so much more than other consoles
I like the fact that midway through the video you popped up, and I could actually see who it was that was narrating. With so many AI videos and clips out there it’s nice to know human is still doing this kind of stuff.

I didn’t know much about Portal 2 when I got it on PS3 (years after it came out) except that everyone raved about it. I got addicted to that game and finished it, and I bought it immediately when it was ported to the Switch

Even big fans of 3 houses admitted a big flaw in the game that hurts replayability (and even first playthrough): the daily stuff you almost "have" to do in the monastery, not very inspired tasks for the most part. Also it's a 31 top list, many games can't make it. For instance, DK tropical freeze is almost as good and fun as Mario bros Wonder, but is not in the list. F-Zero 99 is crazy good too, but is not in the list. Etc.

Ori 2 -- the only game in my Switch library that I was sad didn't make it on here. I'll admit it took a little while for the game to rev up, but damn, every boss fight, every power-up, every chase/escape sequence is so satisfying and fun, plus it's one of the few games whose ending made me truly cry. No I don't mean moist-eyes "🥺", I mean like waterfall-eyes "😭" crying.
My favorite experience on the Switch were Bioshock 1&2

Why do so many people now consider Super Mario 3D World an “absolute classic”? I remember when it came out and got SO much hate. Most people considered it the low end of 3D Mario games, while I constantly defended it. So, why is it now a classic? I hope that’s how most people feel now. The Galaxy games are by far my favorite 3D Mario’s, but I’d put 3D World next, then Odyssey, 3D Land, 64, and Sunshine last. I just don’t get why 3D World was so looked down upon, when it released.
I kind of thought you'd stick to Switch exclusive games but, then I guess there are decent titles that are available on everything.

I'd put Cult of the Lamb at 32, it might be a simple game but everything about it is amazing, and perfect for a console like the Switch.
Its missing Astral Chain, Three Houses and Triangle Strategy for me. I wouldnt include Doom Eternal and Witcher 3 which are everywhere and run better on other platforms.

There's alot more great switch games such as Dragonquest 11, Astral Chain, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Luigis Mansion 3, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Sea Of Stars, Dave The Diver, Triangle Strategy, Octopath Traveler 1+2, Live a Live, Bravely Default 2, Nier Automata, Etc.
And this game is over 3 hours old but it holds up to this day! And then this game is 2 years old and it still holds up to this day!

@Paul_McSeol when I bought Kingdom Battle, it was right after I got my switch, and it was the deluxe version. I was sold, simply off the concept of mario with guns. And Sparks of hope ended up being one of the bigger releases of the the year for me personally when it was coming out due to how much I liked kingdom battle.
How is Mario 3D world the only Mario platformer. Did you forget about Odyssey and Wonder?

I don't have wonder cause I didn't know the release date and bought CoD and I've only played odyssey. Didn't buy it cause I didn't like what I played so wouldn't have a reason to be on MY top 10.
A genuine crime that Three Houses isn't on here. I don't like putting last gen ports on lists like this but since you included Portal and 3D World then Tropical Freeze should absolutely be on here too.
My favorite Nintendo Switch games have to be Super Mario Odyssey, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars, Miitopia, Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario RPG, Kirby Star Allies, WWE 2K18, and Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe those are my favorite switch games i played on the Switch.
