Loved every bit of this conversation. Felt like therapy in a way. So inspiring and relatable. It was quiet refreshing to hear someone talk about such subjects. Thanks to Shantanu and the entire team at the Barbershop. You guys saved the best episode for the last but we hope to see many more conversations soon. Cheers!!
Shantanu please speak in the mic. When you speak, I press the headphones deep in my ear with full volume and then Vinita starts speaking and I almost go deaf.
So agree to the evaluative criteria of consulting designed for men. Not just that the entire model has been designed by and for men. Diversity is important but its the easy part. The tough part is inclusivity and weaving that into your culture. You cannot have diversity and not be ready for inclusivity... then diversity goes for a toss. This episode is so close to my heart ❤️
I had to stop midway my run to write this. Stellar conversation and just soooo powerful. Something takes me back to a personal event where I bought a car with my husband giving the down payment and I would hear him say ‘my car’ while I would still hang on to ‘our car’. Women definitely need more airtime. So much love for this. And I was also thinking you need more women on the chair in the podcast :)
Absolutely same story with me! I started a business with my brother and while he always referred to it as ‘my business’ I also called it ours. This whole video and thread is highly cathartic!
Don't you think you are taking "My car" extreme level. Take it casually... What's wrong.. has he ever stopped you to Drive that car.. ignore your maternal family to sit in the car... Oh these days
She's probably the most authentic and grounded founder we have in the Indian startup ecosystem. Thanks a lot shantanu for arranging this talk, this is something which almost all women and men not only in India but around the world need to hear. Looking forward to a lot more such content from you !
Time stamp 39:13, it's so true. It's in majority of cases the woman who relocates for their husbands under the pretext of the hierarchical superiority or he earns more etc. We want women to take stand for themselves and their ambitions and of course more supportive men/husbands. @Shantanu, @the barber shop, please crop this portion of the video and make this a reel. We want more audiences to listen to this.
Dear shantanu, I can’t thank you enough for this podcast. It’s been long time I am planning to watch all episodes but I started with this last one and it’s the best finale. Thank for letting her talk, flow, asking amazing questions, no breaks, focused and free ! This is the best thing you have started with and I am so looking forward to gain such valuable lessons. Vinita, is absolutely a human. Imperfectly perfect human. As a women, from second tier city, trying to build something, this is an eye opener season and I have recorded few pieces to keep reminding myself again and again and again.. to unlearn few things ! More power to you and Bless you.
In most of the videos where there is a talk going on female empowerment or the problems they face as a women , the comment section is filled with 90% of females and a few males in which most of them write something negative .But I am pleasantly surprised that in this comment section more than half of them are male commenting something positive about this podcast.
Vineeta, you are a GEM. You have made me feel less alone and validated so many of my feelings that I am struggling with. So true when you say "Women go with the flow and do not have a structure/plan for their career" and " women have no time, their breaks go in viewing nanny cams than in networking". I absolutely aspire to some day be mentored by you and be taken to the next stage of my career!
I find this so relatable having same journey of every student who suffers form mental breakdown and selfdoubt u feel worthless you start cutting people and maybe I'm in this fase too
Hey! We all are in same phase now! Please talk to your close people. I'm in process of becoming psychologist. I'm ready to hear you. Will give some references of good psychologist if you need.
Hats-off ! Vineeta has so much to share, which comes directly from her heart, and everything is so contented and relatable...thanks Shantanu for making this forum open.👏👏👏
Must say, most impactful episode of Season 1. A perfect finale episode! Vineeta has been phenomenal in her story telling. Each word from her is 100% full of her conviction. Thanks for doing this interview.
It is so nice to hear Vineeta Singh talking about the day-to-day challenges women faces, such as focusing on their professional life as well as handling household things and they do not get time for their social life. It is no surprise to me if there are no part-time working options available for women in her organization, wherein they can focus on their professional life and will be able to handle their household things along with extra time for their social life.
She is absolutely right about women having extreme doubt and always feeling that what we achieve was merely luck, completely ignoring all years of hard work that went into it. So good to hear it from her. This podcast made me a bigger fan than watching Shark tank!
Randomly saw one of the short where vineeta got the life advice from her son, it intrigued me, what else I can learn from this podcast, & what a discovery, I'm so impressed with her thought process, such a genuine personality. I am woman in my mid 30s recently got into makeup, and when she spoke about wear time of a lipstick it makes sense to me that why only sugar lipstick in my collection (wch is not huge though) met my expectations. Going to buy more stuff from this brand now.
Vineeta is brilliant and so real and relatable. I often thought that she was only perfect and always a super achiever. but, through this interview, I was able to value the grit, resilience, and perseverance that she has along with humane vulnerabilities and self-doubts just as all of us do and that which no one openly accepts. I am in even more admiration of her after this podcast for the stellar leader and visionary that she is. loved this podcast and am In awe of this incredible leader. ❣❣❣❣
One of the best podcast I’ve watched in a while. Vineeta is so raw and authentic. I could relate to her at so many levels. More power to you Vineeta. You inspire so many young women out there! 👏
I am not a podcast person, but a little youtube short gauged my attention- Ranveer giving life gyaan to Vineeta! And I took my time to watch this entire episode. As a woman, I can relate at so many levels with Vineeta. And Shantanu how organically allowing the converstaion to flow. The Barbershop you got be subscribed to your channel❤
This episode was just so amazing. Watching vineeta on shark tank is one thing, reading about her another but hearing her story was just beyond beautiful. You are a role model for all women out here. You are doing amazing and we wish that all your wishes do come true soon. Would love to watch Sugar get listed with hefty premium... Also, Shantanu , I have purchased products of your company but didn't know it was yours. I must tell you that you are doing amazing as well both in your company and in this channel. This is so much insightful and helpful. Hoping to see the brilliant content you want to put out.
Shantanu, i have heard almost all your podcasts and i think this one is your best. You let the interview flow and let Vineetha express herself so well. Loved this podcast. Keep creating great stuff like this. All the best bro.
Thanks Shantanu for this ground breaking finale!!! What an amazing choice of guest!!! Vineeta Singh: My goes to you. You are the leader what every young ambitious girl can look up to. Each and every word you spoke, the experience you shared, i was able to relate to it on another level. And your thoughts and judgement about women in corporate, and how they should be encouraged and promoted are incredible. And hats off to Shantanu who not only helped to bring this out but also navigated the entire podcast in a manner that each and every aspect of women entrepreneurship was covered! This by far has been one of the the best Podcasts I've had the privilege of listening to. 🙏 Thanks a lot guys!!
I thought there will be so many misogynistic comments under this video like social media always but I couldn't find any, cheers to all these understand men out there 👍 and as always it so nice to hear her speak, so many insights also very inspiring
I really love how you engage your guests Shantanu. To keep an hour or two hour long conversation going with very good open ended questions eliciting interesting responses from your guests, thats awesome! That for me is the second take away for me over and above the guest's story.
This was such a good podcast. And Vineeta is such an inspiration. I always admired her after watching Shark Tank, but her take on women empowerment has won me over.
I am waiting for a channel who bring founders who are not from these sexy colleges but have run businesses far more big without any funding and with humble roots. That's when it'll connect with the real lower middle class folks.
Watching this video today was the most refreshing thing. So many key things Vineeta ma'am talked about, were so so so relatable and some so enlightening. There is so much to learn from her!
Shantanu , really liked this podcast. Your way of allowing the speaker to just 'be' and in the flow , just makes it more interesting to listen to. Vineeta..RESPECT!!
100 % true Shantanu - when a women is evaluating a women they are absolutely hard -“ I carried 100 kg bags so yes you should carry 100 kg bags !!! It’s a case in a majority of the organisation - I have been an HR Leader with more than decade of experience and the amount of issues crops up when women leads another women is 5x more !!
Absolutely incredible.. Vineeta is authentic and has amazing clarity on everything that she spoke about. Thank you for hosting the episode and for the format that you have created. Best Wishes
Happy diwali everyone at barbershop ❣️ UNESCO has declared Season 1 as best entrepreneurship podcast☝️ We want 100 more seasons in coming years. Thank you for taking the effort and time for this Shantanu🥃
When i see these episodes it exudes a lot of positivity it gives you a high that India is entering into such crucial period and Start Up is everywhere , i don't know but i hope all these big Start Ups along with creating jobs are also actively putting their hands in their pockets and helping the poorest of our country it could be through just getting food, education, etc that is needed to help our poor fellow human beings
The real creative innovation gets shadowed by the VC in india just because ideally small college/drop out founders aren't encouraged by the VCs who themselves are from big colleges and are on the lookout for them readily.
I have become a huge fan of Vineeta after watching this.. Hats off to your resilience and will power.. It's certainly gonna motivate a lot of women out there.. Keep inspiring!
Came here after a short clip of life where vineeta shares advice she got from her son.... But what a podcast Vineeta is something..... Especially for women be it from any sector and not just Entepreneurship
This is so so true, I loved this conversation. And this, women leader will be more harsh on women. I faced this, i faced this in the very start of my carrer i got fired by my female boss. And the way she used to talk to my male colleagues and us(females) in the same team, same profile was so so different. This is happening, if you are saying that this does not happen then you haven't faced it. But this is true, it happens. Thank you so much for raising this point, atleast somebody is talking about it.
Vineeta is a very grounded person , and a three time comrades ultra runner , I am also running my first comrades next year & sure I can reach out to her for some tips .
Hi Shantanu.. This podcast made me subscribe to your channel.. Vineeta's opinions and experiences are very inspiring. I could relate to a lot of her experiences. Thank you so much for bringing her to your podcast and for her being so candid and honest
An inspiring and honest podcast. We need more conversations like these and women leader stories from a woman’s pov on a platform that reaches not just women but also (and especially ) men. This is also a podcast that all leaders and decision makers should listen to. This podcast really helps women who have entertained the idea of entrepreneurship (like myself) get a sense of the journey a female founder has to go through. Hopefully in another few years when we listen to a female founder story again on this podcast we can see how the story has changed for the better. Congratulations and Kudos to Shantanu and the team on a successful season of podcast series. Other episodes have also been very enlightening and thanks again to Vineeta for an inspiring conversation.
I am a fan of vineeta Singh now. It was so heartwarming relieving empowering to listen to whatever she has to say about women working, her brand and her struggles. I had never thought of wanting to be an entrepreneur untill this video. Can't wait to see Sugar grow to what vineeta is aiming for😁😁😁
Being a working woman in a male dominated field, all aspects of conversation around challenges women face are so on point and authentic. This single conversation touches on every issue relating to women in workforce, even those not even acknowledged as issues. Just a happy feeling, listening to two incredible business leaders talking about them.
What is Vineeta's solution to relocation problem then ? husband should not take better opportunities? One of the two will take a hit, how to decide who that should be?
Thank you Shantanu for an engaging conversation with a high potential for the people to get associated with following their own path. Thank you Vineeta it was great listening to you. Thank you!
Was a great series to listen to ( almost all episodes )....but then on the startup front, my key takeway from all the interviews is that the startup game is essentially a funding game. None of the interviews focussed on profitability while most of them went into the depths of the funding ocean. Doing business in India continues to be hard unless you can network your way into some deep pockets.
Thank you so much for this wonderful interview. The questions you asked were on point and relevant, and Vinita's answers were so insightful! Her charisma blows my mind
Really an empowering conversation, thinking about working with sugar some day, listened to the whole podcast and was compelled to write a comment that i learnt so much from it and will take action upon the learnings. Best learning is to Overestimate yourself. 🥰
I have faced the same harrasment around clothes and personal space and felt guilty about reporting it to the managers or senior leaderships because everyone then creates a perception that women can't handle corporate pressure and since I have also cried multiple times in office due to harrassment, everyone stopped talking to me or delegating me work even though I'm the last person to leave the office
This was such a powerful, knowledgeable podcast- this podcast had 1 of the best conversation about building a brand, operating a business, struggles of getting money to operate. Beautiful podcast
You mentioned one name Shriram Kalyanram from IIT madras , where can I get his videos, pls also confirm the name I could not hear properly. If any link is available pls mention
What a beautiful podcast. Not an entrepreneur but I have been the only woman in board room with men of all kinds ( flirty, aloof, patriarchal, condescending, supporting) and still made my presence felt and voice heard. As a mom influencer, I whole heartedly support mom owned businessess and as a HR Transformation consultant, I focus on creating a diverse yet inclusive culture for men & women to work together with equal rights. Vineeta, you inspire, I live in Dubai and I just added 5 sugar cosmetics products in my Amazon cart
One of the best podcast .. such a smooth transition between business and women leadership and challenges .. so relatable My lookup to person is Vineeta :)😊 as a leader and consciously not stating women leader
It has been an amazing experience for me to watch this podcasts. Aftee watching the podcast I feel that she is such a humbel, honest and sensible person. I can completely related to her when she said women always cheer up incase u are doing good and men are harsh and brutal on your face. Because my

This was an amazing interview. Super candid conversation.
Superb, so inspiring. Thank you Vinita for sharing your journey
Thank you Shantanu for an engaging conversation with a high potential for the people to get associated with following their own path.
Thank you Vineeta it was great listening to you.
Thank you!
Really enjoyed the whole episode. It gave me so many important insights, eagerly waiting for the second season!
There is no progression but regressions from. Upper middle class to middle class and from middle class to lower middle class
it will take some time to process the HD version, pretty long video and might have been uploaded just a few hours ago I guess
This was such a powerful conversation
You are inspiration for women💕💕💕👍
Was a great series to listen to ( almost all episodes )....but then on the startup front, my key takeway from all the interviews is that the startup game is essentially a funding game. None of the interviews focussed on profitability while most of them went into the depths of the funding ocean. Doing business in India continues to be hard unless you can network your way into some deep pockets.
Wonderful conversation. Thank you vineeta for being so open and so generous.
What a beautiful episode. Thank you! Loved it.
I have faced the same harrasment around clothes and personal space and felt guilty about reporting it to the managers or senior leaderships because everyone then creates a perception that women can't handle corporate pressure and since I have also cried multiple times in office due to harrassment, everyone stopped talking to me or delegating me work even though I'm the last person to leave the office
worth watching .....i didnt even realise how 2hrs passed ....amazing podcast ....
Who is Raj - Time stamp: 01:06
This was such a powerful, knowledgeable podcast- this podcast had 1 of the best conversation about building a brand, operating a business, struggles of getting money to operate. Beautiful podcast
Super like for the section on crying and battling gender bias..! Kudos!!
5:47 - 11:47 favorite part of all the interviews on this podcast.
Agar IIT mein Jaanewale Academically best nahi hote toh hum kya hai? (Student not going to IIT or IISC or IIM for that matter LOL).
Oh my god i loved fab bags!! It was a very cool thing!!
You mentioned one name Shriram Kalyanram from IIT madras , where can I get his videos, pls also confirm the name I could not hear properly. If any link is available pls mention
Thankyou for posting this!!!
She is very honest ..very inspiring
Omg love this. Can relate so much to this. Such a good interview
Every word she said...was relatable. She's an inspiration
