We had a lot of fun making this video - it was a spur of the moment song choice that I think we ran through about 3 times before we recorded this - in fairness to Rob I don't think he'd ever heard it before :) - 100% we'll revisit this in the future, but isn't it crazy how affordable gear is for bands that are just starting out!
Never, in my years and years of binge watching chappers and the captain, did I imagine I would see Rob and the guys smash out a Harry Styles cover. And it sounded fantastic too!
I'd love to see this become its own series in different styles with more guests and a bit more budget if needed for a given episode (Band for Two/Three Grand). I think the videos should start straight away with the cover with the gear rundown and maybe a short interview with the guest at the end. E.g. Band for A Grand Covers: [Song Name] featuring [Guest]
Shows how important the sound engineer and talent are! I'm not at all surprised it sounded far better than a lot of pub gigs (with guys playing US fenders). Also, I love the content and Andertons is a great shop, but I bet you could get a band with twice as good equipment second hand for £500!
Rob was obviously taking.the piss... But he sounded bloody great ,his singing as well ,,,they all sounded great, very inspirational for young players ,it was happy and fun and entertaining, made me laugh and smile ,,,,not in a condescending way
This was so much fun to watch, thanks guys...seeing Pete on keys was fantastic, everyone looked like they were having a blast! Needs to be a feature moving forwards perhaps, maybe with different price points etc.
That was the most enjoyable thing I’ve seen all week! Been on the road away from the family this week and watching y’all made all the chaos just disappear. Thank you all so much for doing what you do best. Making music and making everyone just smile. Hope to one day be able to visit the iconic Anderton’s Music Co. Best wishes to all from the Russell’s in Northwest Tennessee.
You guys brightened up my sleepless night. I've never heard hairy styles before.. I might have to check that out. I cant wait to get back over to London to hit your shop! You guys make my day every time.
That is a nice short video, very fun to watch. I like the concept, thanks for sharing ! A serious keyboard-related remark for those interested, though : unless you barely need a simple synth line on one or two songs, you may not want to underspend that much. At least, try to get full size, velocity-sensitive keys, and a sustain pedal input. That's the bare minimum. Line outs would be nice, but pretty much non-existent in that price range. There are decent offerings by Casio and Yamaha at/under £150. If you can push a bit more above £200, the Roland GO:KEYS Pete is holding at the end of the video seems to be a good choice for the money. Now, in regards to the base concept, either : - extend the budget to £1200, - go the electronic route for the drums, to save ~£200, - get the drummer a volca drum or an SR-16 to save a lot more 😁, - try your luck (and patience) on the second hand market, you never know
WOULD LOVE If you put together a similar video with (not cheap, but affordable/entry level) PA- amps, and all that, how to set it up in a practice space and tweak the knobs so it sounds the best.. we have a pretty big practice room, with 2 gtrs a bass and drums and everything is either to low (volume) so the vocals can cut thru, or loud, and we can't hear the vocals, or feedback galore ...
Brilliant,! Thanks Andertons for another greatly entertaining video. When I was a teenager many years ago, the quality of beginner 'affordable' rock instruments were absolutely awful, and sounded terrible . It is amazing how good they sound these days.
More videos like this please. Really good to see gear in a full band context and not just in a silent room. Could do "Band for 5 Grand, Band for 10 Grand etc"
This was one of the funnest dang videos y’all ever done did! Could and should be a series: Go 2 grand and 3 grand. Do a power trio for a grand. Do an all acoustic band for a grand. Do a “band for a grand by brand” (Gretsch could be cool).
Fun to see so much more of the shop.. Oh, yeah, and the song as well. Keyboard player was a bit sloppy, but what can you do? I've heard that song done in various Styles now.
That's a load of guitar and bass for that price! Don't know enough about keyboards or drums so I don't have a strong opinion on either of those. If you went second guitar, I would say hollow body electric or acoustic would be good as an alternative to the keyboard. Edit: nope, hell of a lot of keyboard too. And 500£ for a full kit of drums? I know it can be a lot worse
Surprisingly okay for the money. The biggest standouts for me were the keyboard (the specific sound, not the product) and drums. Also you know it's a day ending in Y when there's wholesale unnecessary hate for Chappers flooding the comments rather than anything about the actual content.
Did I miss the keyboard amp? Also, did the amp mics and mixer cost get factored in? I'm curious what the sound would be like in just the room with no mics other than vocals. If that little guitar amp can compete with the drums in a live setting, that's the true test
at first i thought you were recreating a song from aha..or channeling them heavily! only weak point honestly was the cymbals but thats how it is always with entry level drums, good stuff!
😊❤
I would pay to see your gig, not gonna lie!
Band for a Grand should be your next video series with various artists. Looks like hell of a good time 🤘🤣
100% behind this idea
I agree with all of Pete’s note choices, even the spicy ones in the middle of the Rob’s guitar solo. Especially in the middle of Rob’s guitar solo
A while back, they did a very similar video with Pete killin' it on the bass.
He is a sorcerer, that one.
Never forget the original Grand lineup, where the best guitarists in the band played bass and drums
3:15 ... Pete wonders what other cool sounds the keyboard has, so goes hunting through the settings whilst playing. Love it!
i think he was adding clap sound
Never, in my years and years of binge watching chappers and the captain, did I imagine I would see Rob and the guys smash out a Harry Styles cover. And it sounded fantastic too!
Pete's applause at the end is what sells it, frankly
The Pensioner Patriots!!!
Their debut album “4pm dinner” drops at 7pm this evening (because their bedtime is 9pm).
Pete was just born to be a musician. Best guitarist out of the lot of them and he's playing keyboard instead. Can play the bass great as well
This was a lot of fun guys. Rob getting sent for coffee was outstanding. Made my day!
I'd love to see this become its own series in different styles with more guests and a bit more budget if needed for a given episode (Band for Two/Three Grand).

You could have called this “the one grand band”. Just throwin it out there. Didn’t know Pete could play keyboards, his talents are endless
Pete is a musician through and through. The guy runs circles around everyone he comes across.
Never heard Rob Sing, never heard of this song. But you guys made it sound great.
Very nice video! Did not know that Robs voice developed so good! Good stuff!
Rob was obviously taking.the piss... But he sounded bloody great ,his singing as well ,,,they all sounded great, very inspirational for young players ,it was happy and fun and entertaining, made me laugh and smile ,,,,not in a condescending way
Rob your singing voice was excellent
Thanks dude I really was just messing around - LOL at me reading the lyrics all the way through! 😂
Surprised by Chappers voice. Real Glam Rock sounding. You've got to do a cover of Roxy Music's 'More than this'. He'll nail it.
That was fun! Thanks for the smile/chuckle.
You guys ROCK!! 🤘🤘🔥🔥
This was so much fun to watch, thanks guys...seeing Pete on keys was fantastic, everyone looked like they were having a blast! Needs to be a feature moving forwards perhaps, maybe with different price points etc.
That was fun! The little Alesis gave it a cool 80s vibe. And I've always said that it's not the instruments but the drive that makes a band.

That was AWESOME, so now I'm going to sell all my premium gear and get a set up for under a grand for my band, Cheers! 😍❤👍🎸
My band at college covered As It Was so I’m definitely happy to see their rendition and I also did a lot of the same riffs that Rob did
Roy Orbison goes hard rock. I hear a hit single cover.
You guys brightened up my sleepless night. I've never heard hairy styles before.. I might have to check that out. I cant wait to get back over to London to hit your shop! You guys make my day every time.
Love how Pete and Lee are having so much fun!
That is a nice short video, very fun to watch. I like the concept, thanks for sharing !

Go with an in ear setup. If you don't mind being hardwired, you can do it for less than $300.
I second that! Please incorporate PA's and In-Ear Monitors w/ mixers next time.
Chappers was relegated to Chappuccino 😂 love the Band for a Grand videos!
Its ridiculous how much I enjoyed this video!
Fantastic! You guys should absolutely do more of these.
I like how Lee handed out American dollars at the beginning
genuinely an awesome (albeit cheesy) jam! all the instruments sounded great too, you guys rock!
Definitely need an unlimited budget band video!
Danish Pete on keys is the energy I need in my life!
OMG, I totally dig the song. Just brings back vibes of days gone by. Well done on this episode!!
came for the videotitle, stayed for the band!
Totally love it!
Lovley to hear you have some fun!
Best guitar channel. Always fun to watch.
Brilliant,! Thanks Andertons for another greatly entertaining video.
When I was a teenager many years ago, the quality of beginner 'affordable' rock instruments were absolutely awful, and sounded terrible . It is amazing how good they sound these days.
Wooah. Didnt know Chappers could sing like that!
Love this ❤❤❤
Excellent job, as always!!!
best video you have released in a while. im back to this channel!
Made my day off very differently, especially with Danish Pete. I like it.
That was awesome, yet funny. I loved it especially Mr. Chapman
I sometimes forget these guys are world-class musicians.
Goes to show what you can do with a little coffee 😃
More videos like this please. Really good to see gear in a full band context and not just in a silent room. Could do "Band for 5 Grand, Band for 10 Grand etc"
I think that's a great idea, but starting with some smaller increments - so £1,500, £2,000, and £3,000 before jumping to higher budgets.
The Captain is quite the bassist. I think he may have missed his musical calling. 🙂
The Captain’s pretty decent on bass!
This was GREAT!!!!
Band - $1000
Jamming with your friends - Priceless
Pete sounded like Toto's keyboard. Great talent. Waiting for keyboard reviews on your channel 😅
we need these contents more often.
The jam was actually great.
Lee: "serious bit now"
Sorry, I can't! 😂
i dont know why i enjoy this cover so much
I love these guys! Seems like an awesome place to work.
Yeah i am the biggest fan. This time you actually got a drummer 🪘and good cover.
Yeah man Taylor’s an awesome drummer!
This was one of the funnest dang videos y’all ever done did!
Could and should be a series:
Go 2 grand and 3 grand.
Do a power trio for a grand.
Do an all acoustic band for a grand.
Do a “band for a grand by brand” (Gretsch could be cool).
When I saw Pete looking at keys, I thought ohh most likely some Van Halen. Nope, Harry Styles lol. Still did an amazing job!!
As soon as Rob starts singing, you realise he went to school for guitar.
Wasn’t a good scale apparently
Great video, congrats, it's really fun to watch these budget gear covers!
Kinda think the 40 quid keyboard was the MVP here!
Now that's an Ad worth watching.
well done 👍🏼 sounds good, perfect job 😃
Well thats a cover i never knew i needed... untill now!
I so am a low-budgeteer, and this gives me hope again...😁
That Alesis sounded brilliant.
Literally getting the band back together. Chappers and Tay Tay in da house 🙌🏻
Lee’s time feel on bass needs some more appreciation. Bro was holding it down!
And the new record Shitkickers Deluxe now available wherever fine albums are sold. Great job gentlemen. Next, a car boot challenge
If this doesn't get you to 1mln subs, IDK WHAT EVER WILL! Love y'all, it was a very grateful laugh :)
dig it -more please 🤘...... and the whole gang together 💪
Maybe there should be a series - a band for £1,500, a band for £2,000, a band for £3,000?
Fun to see so much more of the shop.. Oh, yeah, and the song as well. Keyboard player was a bit sloppy, but what can you do?
I've heard that song done in various Styles now.
This is f*cling hilarious 😂 well done 👍

so cool guys! rob your voice was very good!
Nice. I really like that tune and you guys had fun beefing it up.
Brilliant lads.
All I need now are three friends 😅
Damn, Pete's wildin' on that keyboard!
A Harry Styles song never sounded so good. Love the 80s Europe/Journey feel to the song.
If these guys can do this with that Instruments: everything is said
Thanks guys that was fun & well played !
Can't you do a video like this every week? Alternating a teen song ('Anderteens') and an very old song from the 1920s/30s/40s ('Anderthens')?
Love the videos, love the channel, but if you're gonna play live you need a PA!! as well as backline and instruments.
oh boy Pete, I have a Korg RK-1 Keytar from 1985 that would have been perfect for you there.
Introducing………. “The hip replacements”
Surprisingly okay for the money. The biggest standouts for me were the keyboard (the specific sound, not the product) and drums.
Also you know it's a day ending in Y when there's wholesale unnecessary hate for Chappers flooding the comments rather than anything about the actual content.
Andersons have the best goddam infommercials on the planet 👍
You're looking at Guilfest '24 headliners right here!
Okay that cover was badass!!
GREAT JAM GUYS !!🌿
More of this! 😁
Did I miss the keyboard amp? Also, did the amp mics and mixer cost get factored in? I'm curious what the sound would be like in just the room with no mics other than vocals. If that little guitar amp can compete with the drums in a live setting, that's the true test

Always upvote Chapsters. 😎
Now we need one by busting the bank!
Yes! More of THAT
Great cover boys!!! 💪😝🤟🍻
